Thanks for asking. The hammer pull is very smooth and easy on a Taylor Tuned Smoke Wagon. The Short-Stroke Smoke Wagon truly has a different feel as that hammer just doesn't come back the same way and it's a very short hammer pull back. That said, it doesn't feel quite as smooth because there isn't that range of motion - the polishing is done on a short-stroke, but the Taylor Tuned actions on a standard Smoke Wagon are very smooth and traditional.
The Gambler has a fancier checkering pattern on the grip based off of an original 1873 Single Action. The Gambler grips are a standard width - where the Smokewagon grips are thinner in the hand, and the hammer on the Smokewagon is seated lower at the rear sight where the hammer seats onto the frame in a resting position.

Is the Taylor & Co. Gambler pretty much the same as the Smoke Wagon? I can't find any info on the gambler... even on the site.

I tried on at a local gun store today - it was very nice indeed. Nit Pick here - it is .45 Colt, not .45 Long Colt.
get some double and single action pistols. I like them but a single action only sucks.
