Gorgeous area. I'm driving out to Radium next weekend and I might need to swing up north and take the long way and stop at Herbert Lake. Thanks as always for sharing.
I drove to this road couple weeks ago and it’s such a spectacular place on the earth. I had tears in my eyes watching all these beautiful places. I would go back again for sure and explore more . I can’t still stop thinking about my drive .
It really is! I find myself out there almost once a year and never get tired of it. There is endless amounts of exploring you can do. One of my favourite places. Beautiful!
Thank you so much for sharing your trip and for disclosing when you took the shots you included. I can't get over how beautiful the sky is. 11:13. I hope the weather holds up when I go.
Glad you enjoyed it! It wasn't the nicest weather on that trip but as you can see, it's still beautiful. Just be prepared for bad and cold weather in the mountains even in summer. Very unpredictable up there in the icefields.
We can see why this is one (if not the) most scenic drive. That Mistaya Canyon area looks really cool and the Bridal Veil fall looked massive. Crazy that the glaciers have receded back as much as they have. Wilcox looked expansive and would love to see hike footage from that one! Cool skywalk and overall amazing area!
Thanks for watching! I really like Mistaya Canyon also. Yes some of the glaciers are getting smaller and smaller every year. Wilcox is unreal and I do have some action cam footage from when we did the hike and more photos. It isn't the best quality footage but I might try and see if I can make a raw type of video to at least share even if it's not the best quality. Have a great day!
I live in southern British Columbia and my brothers live in Grande Prairie Alberta so I take this drive every time I go visit them. It's pretty awesome, not gonna lie.
The weather on our trip was not the best but Herbert Lake still looked great. The water is like a mirror when calm. Most people just drive right by the lake. Great spot though. Have a great day! 😀👍
Yes more times than not I encounter some bad weather when driving along this road but weather in the mountains is unpredictable and I can't control that unfortunately haha but it still looks great regardless. I appreciate you watching. Take care! 😀
Stunning scenery, hard to choose a favourite (The raging waters of sunwapta falls looked especially impressive). I would like to visit them all. Great highlights video 👍👍👍
That is great. I never get tired of the drive. There is so many nice places to stop along there and too many for one trip. Some great spots I didn't document in the video but maybe the next time I go through there I can do an update on some of the others. I always find new areas every time I visit.
That is a beautiful area you get to explore. Awesome views and landscapes. I would have a blast exploring this area. If we could only travel again. Take care and keep sharing your area. Have a great day, Wade.
Love that stretch of park highway. I think my favorite drive there was winter 2006 I had just got a new mustang in the fall, it was snowing and beautiful the entire drive!
@@ExploringwithWade I was lucky I had a brand new set of studded ice tires on the car. I was ready for the drive and there was fresh snow, the road was white from shoulder shoulder the whole way from Banff to Jasper 🌨️🏔️
Totally agree, it is a must see! And not just to be driven through, you have to stop to truly appreciate the absolute beauty...thanks so much for sharing as living here on the east coast I sure miss the years I lived in BC...
It also takes multiple days or trips. I have been through there a few times and still find new places to stop. I had to stick to what we had time for and the main areas I recommend. I miss the ocean when out here but then I would miss the mountains if not here haha. Have a great day! 😀
Alberta is really amazing, lots of mountains, source of fresh water. You have made a great video my friend, with lots of details about the places, drive tour, and still and video footages. 💙💙👍🙂. I will watch this video again before I going to Alberta trip for sure.👍👍👍
Beautiful Canadians Rocky Mountains.I was going to visit Going to the Sun Road ,Glacier NP US .Now I have changed my mind .I m going to visit this beautiful place next time. From California US.
Glacier NP is on my list of places when I travel across the border next it looks beautiful there too. The Icefields Parkway and Banff and Jasper are so beautiful you won't be disappointed. I never get tired of the Rocky Mountains. Take care!
That is great that you were able to visit. I know so many people that have never had the chance to experience this drive so I always recommend it. Have a great weekend. 👍
I will never get sick of this drive! Hopefully my family and I can make it again sometime this winter and do another trip to the mountains! :) Great job!
Thanks for the tour it was enjoyable! I’ve been through that area as a kid, will have to visit it again as my memories have faded away. Take care be safe🍻
Such a beautiful place! I added it on my list of must sees for when I'm in Canada. I can't pick a favourite, but the skywalk caught my eye because it looks scary and beautiful at the same time 😂
Stunning Wade. I want to live in Canada sooo bad. Stuck at home atm longing to be in the wilderness, this video really cheered me up. Thanks for sharing bud. 👍👌🍀
If wilderness is what you like we have lots of open space and wilderness for sure. You can always get away and spend time in nature easily here. Glad it cheered you up. Have a great one and take care. 👍
Hi Wade, there are so many beautiful places along the way. So beautiful. Couldn’t stop watching. Stunning landscapes and water ways. Breath taking. Thank you for sharing these amazing places. Have a wonderful weekend, cheers ~ Joseph.
Yes it is amazing and the colors are not edited to look better. It truly looks that way in person. It is almost unbelievable when standing there. Have a great weekend. 😀👍
Great driving tour. I remember most of the places. it is one beautiful drive and if you can hike great place to do this. once you visit you will see why this is one of the best places on earth to visit. Great job showing all the major places along the way. enjoyed.
I seem to find a new stop each time because there are so many places to see. There are so many incredible hiking spots also that hopefully next time we can do a new one. Thanks! 😀👍
2021 is the year, I’ll visit Canada for the first time and this NP is up in the top of my list! Beautiful footages! The lake is serene! What a stunning snow capped mountains! Big thumbs up 👍
Very beautiful Wade. It reminds me of a trip we made to Whistler and Kelowna a few years back. Also driving up the Frasier river was particularly nice. Nice video 👍. Have a great day 😁!

What an awesome tour and beautiful images, Wade. The colour of the Peyto Lake is unbelievable. Unfortunate that the area was closed at that time. But I loved the waterfowl lake, too. And I always love your very instructive and refreshing narration. You live in such a magnificent country, my friend.👍👌
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much! Peyto Lake is incredible. You almost can't believe it is real even when seeing it in person for the first time. Some might think the color is edited but it isn't. Late season it is that bright turquoise. Have a great weekend and thanks again. 😀👍

Hi Wade. Wow, amazing scenery! And your informative commentary is greatly appreciated. I love all your stops along the way of course, but even just your driving segments are a pleasure to watch with the incredible scenery rolling by. It's been so long since I've been to Alberta and I can't wait to go back, although I guess I'll have to wait for a while longer. Your video reminds me of my road trip from Banff to Takakkaw Falls just across the border into BC. Beautiful Canada!
Yes it is amazing through there. I never get tired of it. I wanted to really give as much of a full experience as possible with what the whole drive looks like. Most videos I have seen they don't show glimpses of everything. Hopefully you can visit one day soon. The drive through Yoho NP is great also and Takakkaw Falls is very nice. Have been there once. Have a great weekend. 👍😀
Excellent video and I am from India and it is my dream to visit these 2 national parks. Also would love to go on a road trip on this scenic route. I love Canada because of its natural beauty. I am sure I will visit Canada next year. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the tour. I can relate to your idea of getting away from the busy places as I do the same. 🙂 I could suggest a few more places in Jasper National Park that are not visited by masses of people, that are unique and with your drone capabilities you may have incredible views that I can only imagine! Here’s a couple of them to see if they interest you…. there’s quick sand in two places, one right off the parkway & also Athabasca falls. It’s fun to play with. Horseshoe lake has people cliff diving, amazingly coloured rocks & water, big fish, underwater caves and even scuba divers there! I have many, many more but won’t rattle on and on. Just an interesting thing to share about Tangle Falls… they actually cut the falls in half when they built the road. If you were to venture down by the parking lot you’d discover more falls but smaller. It’s beautifully mossy and lush down there. There used to be an old cache around that area in the trees. Above the major falls, somewhere upstream, is supposed to be an old abandoned cabin/shack but I haven’t made it up to poke around to try and find it. Anyways message me if you are interested in knowing more and maybe we can exchange emails or something to communicate. I hope I didn’t offend or step over a line. 😊 Happy Adventures!!
I go out there pretty often so I am always trying to find some new to me places. Thanks for the suggestions and info on a few of these other places. I will try and check them out next time. I appreciate that. Not sure why you would have offended me haha I always enjoy hearing from people that have some extra info or ideas. Take care!
I want to do Parker Ridge because I haven't been able to do it yet but it looks great from the photos I have seen and you can get a look at a glacier up there. Wilcox Pass is awesome though and would love to do it again. You can't really go wrong with any hikes in Jasper. I would spend a day and do both if possible since they are around the same area.
August 2020. Even though the weather was mostly gloomy through parts of this trip it is always beautiful through there. Thanks and hope you can do the trip. You won't be disappointed.
Awesome video! Getting ready to book a trip and looking to travel in early September. When was this video taken? Any thoughts on early September? Thanks!
Hi Wade thanks for the excellent video. I am going to Banff this year but as I have arthritis I cannot hike. Would I be able to access the views you showed of Wilcox pass from a car park? That was my favourite view. What camera do you use? The quality is outstanding
Thanks very much! Most of the spots I showed along the parkway are easy access but unfortunately Wilcox pass is a moderate hike and has a fairly steep incline especially at beginning to the first lookout where the chairs are. It is hard to get that view above the treeline anywhere else without hiking unfortunately. As you can see in the video though there are amazing views and plenty of awesome stops along the road and all around Banff. Possibly the Banff Gondola or Mount Norquay Chairlift or if you go to Jasper the Jasper Skytram might be something for you to look into to get those high up views without much walking. For all the footage in this video I used a Sony a7 iii and gopro for driving footage. Take care!
I hope you enjoyed the tour of this amazing stretch of road in the Canadian Rockies. Which location was your favorite?

Take care!
thanks for sharing, if you had to choose between Wilcox Pass or Parker Ridge hikes?
I want to do Parker Ridge because I haven't been able to do it yet but it looks great from the photos I have seen and you can get a look at a glacier up there. Wilcox Pass is awesome though and would love to do it again. You can't really go wrong with any hikes in Jasper. I would spend a day and do both if possible since they are around the same area.
What time of year was the video or pics taken? Trying to get a trip planned for next year.. Amazing video. Thanks
August 2020. Even though the weather was mostly gloomy through parts of this trip it is always beautiful through there. Thanks and hope you can do the trip. You won't be disappointed.
Hi Wade, great video!!! Thanks for making it. What month did you film it?
Hi there thanks! I filmed the middle of August 2020.
@@ExploringwithWade Thanks Wade!
Take care!
Nice video , i really like it , which month was it ?
Thank you! This was filmed in middle of August of 2020.
