THANK YOU for watching and THANK YOU Mom (LouAnn) for letting us see your pantry transformation! Here's the video I mentioned: How to declutter WITHOUT making a mess! ruclips.net/video/7yQqvQ99MVw/видео.html I hope you have a great day! - Dawn
I have a question: You know how alot of stuff you were bringing down off the shelves was covered in dust etc., but say you want to donate it, did you/does everyone clean that stuff b4 donating? Or bin it to avoid that job? or spend hours cleaning summat your going to get rid of?? I never know where best to put my time, .......? xx
LouAnn, on God's word, your pantry was not even close to embarrassing. The fact you have so many activities going on, hosting, I would have thought there would be WAY MORE wasted food and way more chaos. You really are quite organized, far ahead of most of us! So gracious to let us see the really fun before/after! May some of us release old guilt-inducing items and food to make room for calm and organization thanks to this video.
I love you Dawn!. Thank you for reminding us that we can forgive ourselves for having had to attend to other things in our lives and let certain things go. Your mom is awesome!!!
Once I started hosting the whole family on holidays, I used crock pots. Each side would go into a crock pot. One each for mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and even carve the turkey and keep warm in a crock pot. Then when guests arrived I could visit with them as cooking and clean up was done.
I just watched another American declutter and she had 5 OMG- and she only got rid of 2- 1 because it had no lid and 1 small one and kept 3 humungous ones!!!!!!
That's just total overwhelm tho. I need to figure what's worth arranging by our basement utilities, personally, because I'm realizing as this carries on that my kitchen area closet has too much basement section items on its shelves.
At age 60 I started to downsize and declutter, I figured if I didn't start now I might not have the ability in 10 years. Long story short I'm 72 now and I live by the: "If I don't wear it, use it, or touch it once in 365 days It's outta here." The system works because everything in my house has to be cleaned once a year in order to stay, so even the highest shelf gets emptied, dusted, decluttered, and then reloaded. So far so good, my system is working for me. Oh yeah, I also do the one in, one out rule that way I'm not accumulating stuff.
To Dawn's mom...thank you so much for allowing us into your home and basically saying "It's ok. Messes happen even to organized folks." We are not judging you and if anything, you've given me the gift of knowing that anyone and probably everyone can get overwhelmed and a little disorganized throughout the process of life. That's a gorgeous pantry! 💜 Great job Dawn!
I really enjoyed seeing this "real" video as most of us can really relate to your mom. You did a great job and the painting was the icing on the cake. Thanks for sharing!!
Loved that your parents are still in the home you were raised! My parents are still in the home they raised my 7 sisters and me. And that is the same home my grandma and grandpa raised my mom and her 10 siblings! So much history and love there! 💗
I did an overhaul of my mum’s pantry last week too and the oldest prize award went to chocolate flavourings that she had from 1987. I have been trying to help her let go of those for years now, and I can confidently say that she finally said it was time. I’ve been amazed at the emotional journey it has been for her to get old things out of the house. It’s not just “stuff”, it’s memories, emotions sometimes a connection to a point in time that was hard or happy etc. there’s a lot of healing to be had when letting go of old things. And some of the things don’t even seem to make sense, but they’re still hard to let go of.
Your mom has nothing to be ashamed of; there are times in our lives where the pantry or whatever takes back seat to more important things. The pantry looks fresh/organized/clean & probably blesses her every time she goes into it!
I know you hear this a ton but honestly I play your channel constantly while I’m doing housework. Your voice is lovely to listen to, and you give us all so much grace and space to let go of not only things, but also those feelings of overwhelm and shame! Thank you so much, you bring a lot of joy and comfort to us out here in the world!
Dawn, you have my son's wife's family decluttering now. His mother-in-law ordered a dumpster for the week. It's rubbing off from me telling my son and him seeing me de-clutter for a year!
"It's okay, it hasn't been your number one priority." Those were the most empowering words you said at the end of your video. It validates why it's difficult to keep things organized and under control when we are managing many other things- work, school, children, helping parents, illness, unexpected emergencies, children's sports and recreation activities, holidays, birthdays, projects, plus just the day to day daily housework/ routines/ grocery shopping... the list goes on and on. Hearing those words stopped me, and I had to replay that. Thank you, Dawn (and Mom) for helping us see that it's okay and the path we need to take to make things better!!!!
That was encouraging to see. A space acctually needing to be decluttered and organized. Thanks to your mom for letting us see that pantry. And great job Dawn for even freashing it up too😍💕
No judgement! That is how all pantries get when you are busy living and enjoying your family and having illnesses and stress and big family events and LIVING to the fullest. The freshen up at the end was perfect. Not every pantry has to be expensive. Just touches of paint and cleaning made it look sparkly.
We all have our “Monica’s closet”! Your mom is going to feel so loved every time she opens her pantry now! Instead of all the negative thoughts she probably had and all the I should self talk, now she can smile and think of how beautiful it is and feel the love.
I'm a senior citizen woman, so I hope you'll excuse my mistake: When I first glanced at your video title, I thought it said, "Massive Panty Declutter (20 years in the making!)"
Dawn, I love how you end your posts with "I love you..." It feels really true. We love you too! And it's awesome how you and your Mom are such a blessing to each other! Wonderful family!
No judgement to Mom! I love that you shared this, it makes it feel more doable for others. And what a beautiful tribute you made about your parents! We can tell they were/are good parents because they have wonderful kids!!
What a sweetheart your mom is for sharing this to encourage us all. And I'm so proud of you for your respect, love and appreciation of your wonderful folks.
Mom, you raised some great kids and always made sure your kids/family were well provided for! The pantry was always important for avoiding not having enough to feed your family especially if items were on sale. Nowadays things are so much more available but our generation has a hard time changing the way we shopped as younger parents. So do not be embarrassed, just be jubilant that your children love you so much. I don't have any children but a few of my organizing friends did such a job on my place that I'm not the messy person that I thought I was! God bless you all!
The pantry turned out so well. Looks so fresh and organized! And seriously your Mom shouldn’t be concerned about the “before”.. we have ALL been there! That’s why we are all friends! 😀
So refreshing to see a pantry that is lived in and not picture perfect. She was so gracious to let you film and post this. I know I would be self conscious of anyone filming my pantry (and craft closet…*shutter*).
This is super inspiring for all of us with disorganized and overpacked pantries. Thank you, LouAnn, for allowing Dawn to share your decluttering journey as motivation for us all!
What a blessing! Thanks Dawn and Dawn's mom. Your daughters turned out to be lovely women and a true testament to the love and care that you gave to your children, as they are now sharing it with us. God bless. xxx
Awww I shed a tear watching this. I don't know your mom but I'm 1 million % sure she deserved this and MORE lol. I've been a single mom for 31 yrs so my entire adult life has been all about my TWINS since I had them at 19 yrs old. When they were born I kinda buried myself and became MOM and never looked back and now I feel to old to even "think about ME" since they're grown.
💕💕💕 Give yourself permission to do some nice things for yourself! You’ve definitely earned it. Raising good, decent humans is not an easy job for anyone, not least a young woman alone. Well done! But time to stop being MOM and go have fun being Lisa again!💕💕
You are only 50! Seriously, that is young! So many adventures still to come... I was down the rabbit hole of RUclips and found :Sisters on the Fly: while looking for quilt videos... a HUGE Women Only Adventure Club, with all different activities... these are ladies in their 70's even... with Glampers, meeting up all over the U.S. for fishing, quilting hops, cycling, hiking.... looks like every state has a 'chapter'.... married, single, divorced, widowed... with all different types of adventures... It is not too late to start thinking about you...! good luck!
I was in a similar situation. Single mother - three boys. Devoted my life to them. They are off on their own adventures now. So I am on mine - I am retraining for a career in Early Childhood Education and Care. At 56. Most of the girls in my class are 18-20, but they are so supportive. You don't know what you can do until you try.
@@helenebennie3961 Good for you! I’m so proud of you even if I don’t know you!! I did the same when I turned 40. I had been in banking and banks were swallowing each other up at a quick clip at that time - and the major bank I worked for was bought by a Chinese banking firm who moved my job to another city an hour and a half away. Because I technically lost my job to an overseas company, it entitled me to a certain amount of money from the government to retrain for something different. It was, coincidentally, the exact amount of tuition (at the time) at my local community college, which meant I only had to pay for books, uniforms, supplies, lab fees, etc. It covered about 70% of my costs to get an Associates degree in a health related program. And my fellow students were wonderful and couldn’t have cared less about the fact I was close to the age of their moms. I highly encourage anyone thinking about it to jump right in like you did!
Mom please don't feel ashamed or embarrassed and may God bless you for sharing your REAL life w us!!! 🙏 Let's all share a story of our embarrassment... to help mom know she is not alone? Smile 😃 Here is mine. Mom, my sister in law pulled some salad dressing out of our fridge...she said, "Hum this French dressing doesn't taste right!" Eeeekkk it was 2 years old shock 😲😳embarrassed 😳😐and I've never lived it down. Come to find out my husband, daughter and i don't use French dressing ...we had bought it for our sister in law the last time she had come to visit lol 😆😂😅 by the way I found out today I'm a lady bug 🐞 too. Hugs from your lady bug 🐞friend 💖
Thanks mum for letting us into your pantry. And good on you for being so ruthless. Well done to everyone for getting on top and creating a great space for mum to enjoy. I can just see the smile on her face every time she opens that door and takes the ease in. Blessings for all that you do Dawn and for honouring your mum and dad so beautifully. xx
I loved this. You showed your love and appreciation for your parents. That’s a much better gift to them than an organized pantry even though the pantry looks awesome. I would love to hear those words from my grown children.
God bless our moms and all the sacrifices they make for us. What a blessing that we have the opportunities to give back to them and spoil them!!! Thank you (and your momma) for sharing. You are a testament to her kind heart.
I love this video! A big, “thank you,” to your mom for sharing this with us. And there is zero judgement from me. I’ve been putting off cleaning up my pantry and this is just the motivation I needed. ❤️
Yay for your mom!!! Don't be embarrassed-- we all have spots like that in our homes-- that's what happens when there's life in your home!!! Nice that you helped your mom out, Dawn! The little bit of painting and "sprucing up" makes all the difference! Win -win, definitely!!!👍🏻🙌🏼🌸🌺🎉🌼
That’s so refreshing to see good moms out there. Aspirations. If the only issue my mom had was a neglected pantry, but was a hardworking honorable woman, what a blessing that would be. No judgement Dawn and Diana’s mom!!! Hugs!!!! We all have things to work on, and love the 4 burner theory. Soooo much. ❤️😇😇❤️
No judgment for your mom here. Her pantry looked real, and like it was adjacent to a living space that is full of love and life, and tons of great memories. She should be proud of the way her pantry looked, and in the same moment be proud of her daughter that has the ability to make her pantry function better. Dear “Minimal Grandma” congratulations on you beautiful refreshed pantry, and Dawn, as usual, you’re a gem!! ❤️
It’s so encouraging to hear that you got overwhelmed at first with the pantry because I think of you as a minimalist veteran 😮 so this makes me feel better knowing that you occasionally still struggle at projects but push through to the finish line
Dawn, I hope you read this. Please tell your Mom THANK YOU THANK YOU for allowing Dawn to post this. You, mom, are an inspiration! The conviction in your voice to let Dawn get it functional. This particular video moved me so. It has given me hope and new motivation to approach my mom and her kitchen. She doesn't have a walk in pantry, needless to say everything is stacked in the kitchen. Watching this video made my heart SO happy!
Thank you, LouAnn, for being vulnerable and letting us see this process! I just completed our walk-in pantry declutter and it was absolutely crazy how much stuff I had in there that I got rid of - 43 full canning jars of old food we were never going to eat and just kept keeping, my husband’s grandma’s china, wedding gifts of fancy bowls and platters, and assorted party dishes that were passed down to me among dozens of misc. stuff. It’s a huge transformation and now has lots of empty space that I intend to keep empty.
Wowwwww!!!!! That must feel so satisfying for your Mom! I love seeing your family interactions and seeing how close y'all are. I used to love doing these kinds of things for, and with, my Mom. Cherish these moments... they'll live in your heart forever. 🥰
We love your Mom so much!! What a sweetie! The pantry looks fantastic!! I bet it will stay that way now because the systems will do the work. Happiness every time she opens the door. What a wonderful surprise!!
It's nice to see a young busy mom, like yourself, giving back to your mom. I'm sure she loved spends ng quality time with her daughter and the organization was a bonus!
Absolutely no judgement! Happens to all of us. These videos are good reminders of how to have grace for ourselves and start over. That’s all. Thanks for this!
Please, please tell your mom that it happens to EVERYONE! She was super brave to show it and that process will help and encourage sooo many. Thank you! I'm ready to get up and get going. :)
I'm sure your parents are thrilled with their "new" pantry! Your mom seems like such a sweetheart! Tell her again that we have all definitely been there!
This is by far one of the best videos you have made! I just love seeing where you grew up and how real it gets after years (and decades) being in the same home! People don’t realize when they move over and over that they are given the gift of finding things that get buried! Thank your mother for making the rest of us feel more “normal”! I loved this video and seeing the wedding pics and family times together. What a blessing your parents are and what a beautiful family they have!💞. Many blessings to you all!
So helpful to see a space that looks like our situation. I love your home for a model of "after" transformation...AND can you show more homes in your community that are in the "before" state, and how to deal with them?
My parents built their house and lived in it for almost 65 years! I understand the blessing of having that childhood home to go home to. Your parents have built a wonderful legacy in your family.
After a lifetime of living in cluttered glory, I have been decluttering and cleaning up my act. Partly this is so my family to have to deal with a bunch of dirty, useless clutter when I’m gone. It’s a loving gesture
Two winters ago, after my dad retired, he decided to clean up the chaos of a pantry we had in the basement that my mother has never maintained. The oldest expired item we had was from 1990, and many from the early to mid 1990's. 🤯
WoW, I LOVE You Pantry. What a Blessings. Dawn, thanks You for waking me up. My oldest daughter is great at organizing. For any holiday, I ask her to help redo my Pantry. Then when she does it it gets, undone by next month (too many hands in the Pantry.) We are a reg family of 4 but, occasionally grow to 6. Our space is ½ of one of her sides. Now, I will dream of having my freezer in my Pantry. Never thought of where we were going to put it in the garage/basement when, we get the house. Please, Thank you mother for the Wonderful Blessing she is sharing. 💞. I will try not overwhelm my daughter with the task of organizing it.
Your Mama is precious! Enjoy her and your Dad every day you can. I miss mine so much, but we’ll meet again in Heaven one Glorious Day! Your parent’s must be so proud of all their children. You are the kindness and most merciful woman to all of us that need your guidance.❤️🤗🙏🏻 Tom is such a good sport, loves you and your kids so much. What a great family!
This was wonderful. It's hard for us to imagine our own spaces when looking at you're own very minimized spaces. This is much more what my space looks like and it's easier to see that there is hope.
Your mom is such a good sport. Nobody can judge her because we’re all like her! 😂😂😂 lol. it’s obvious that you girls, and your brother were raised by wonderful parents. Look how wonderful you turned out. Loved this video.
I agree with your mom about using cans that are up to 2 years expired. I think I’m a little older than your mom and when we grew up there was never any expiration dates on canned goods. Sometimes I wonder if it’s more a ploy to get us to buy more.😂
I'll usually use expired canned goods but I've had tomato sauce that exploded when I first punctured the lid-that's no good :D. (And that sauce wasn't expired).
The pantry looks great. I love there porch on there house. No judgement,we all have spaces that have gotten messy. It was nice you did that for your mom.
Thanks to your mom for letting us see a real life pantry transformation! I’m amazed and inspired by how much she could let go of... it was great to see the momentum pick up so quickly. Great job all around 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dawn you are such an Amazing daughter! Thank you to your Mom for allowing us into her pantry! There is just the 2 of us, yet we have so much "stuff". He will be 65 soon, so of course he is getting something in the mail almost everyday pertaining to Medicare/Retirement. As you can imagine there is mail all over the Breakfast Bar (Flat Surface). He went today and bought a filing system, until he has time to sort through all the mail!
Bless your beautiful mum for being fearful of judgement & still being brave enough to do this 💖 I think the large majority of us have AT LEAST one area in our home that’s super disorganised& overwhelming & I think it’s so important to see REAL as opposed to perfect. A huge thank to your mum for this 🙏😘🥰
THANK YOU for watching and THANK YOU Mom (LouAnn) for letting us see your pantry transformation! Here's the video I mentioned: How to declutter WITHOUT making a mess! ruclips.net/video/7yQqvQ99MVw/видео.html I hope you have a great day! - Dawn
Thank you Lou Ann & Dawn for giving me some inspiration. We’ve all been there.
I have a question: You know how alot of stuff you were bringing down off the shelves was covered in dust etc., but say you want to donate it, did you/does everyone clean that stuff b4 donating? Or bin it to avoid that job? or spend hours cleaning summat your going to get rid of??

Please make more videos at mom's house 🏠🙏 love love love these before and afters 😃
Doing the touch up paint isn’t just an aesthetic win. Lots of studies have shown that we respect a space more when it looks in good condition.
The fact that your mom has three crock pots is honestly the most midwestern thing ever and I love it 😂
Southern thing too y’all! 😊💕

Me too!
My goal as well.
I try to do the one in, two similar items out guideline, to ease into decluttering process.
Yay! 😎
I feel exactly the same way! That’s why I am decluttering. I don’t know when I will have more energy to do it
How refreshing that you don't belittle anyone who hasn't "arrived" yet with their minimalism and organization skills. You are so sweet and gracious!!!
To Dawn's mom...thank you so much for allowing us into your home and basically saying "It's ok. Messes happen even to organized folks." “Are you interested in it?” “No.” “Me neither.” I love your mom!
No judgement here! More like.....oh good, they're real people with bigger priorities than a spotless house! ❤️
Right. It was only crowded. And an overwhelming job to tackle on one's own.
I love this ❤
So much this . It just makes them even more relatable!
Yes! It shows that relationships come first, which they should.
Yes! It takes the burden of Guilt off me to know that it's normal to have other priorities besides cleaning and organizing all the time!
I feel like this was a “real” pantry de-clutter.
Your mom should not feel bad, at all! So happy we could see the transformation too.
Yeah now I have get decluttering!
I just moved and have to find new homes for stuff😩
A (Dawn ) ting task!
😥 Thanks for sharing🙏💕😀
@@carolblair8336 haha
That is hilarious-(a "Dawn"-ting task. Too funny
I have no idea why it felt comforting to hear you say cleaning out this pantry being overwhelming for you.
I am not alone. 🙂
trust me, you are not alone.
Annette - YES! I was encouraged, too!
Because it proves she is human just like the rest of us.
Her pantry wasn’t her priority…sounds like her family is. What a great mom! ❤️

Good for you!
@@Lucinda_Jackson Good on you too.
Mom please don't feel ashamed or embarrassed and may God bless you for sharing your REAL life w us!!! 🙏
Let's all share a story of our embarrassment... to help mom know she is not alone? Smile 😃
Here is mine.
I LOVE seeing transformations like this so thank you to your mom!!!
Good luck
So nice that she has a functional pantry now. One less thing on her invisible to do list.🥰🥰
No judgement here... I now feel inspired to tackle my pantry.
Thank you Dawn’s Mum! No judgement from Brisbane, Australia. Much love and appreciate to all of you. ❤️💐🇦🇺
Soooo much. ❤️😇😇❤️
I am so glad you got to do that for your mom!! I can tell they have been wonderful parents!!
No judgement. I did want to see her reaction to the painting and the full transformation!
Me too!
What a beautiful way to show your Mum how much you love her. Your Mum must be so proud of her children. She did a great job with you.
Tell your mom, no judgement from us.......what a wonderful blessing for your dear mom.....kudos for a job well done and then some!
Beautiful pantry! Love it...no judgment here either! Grandmother's/Grandfather's highest priority is their Grandbabies!! 🌷❣🌷❣
Aww, that's so sweet from you to do this with your mom. I love how close you are all as a family. It turned out so great!
No judgement at all!!! What a blessing to have such a wonderful family so close! This was great! Thank you Dawn and thank your mom! 🙏🏻💕💕💕
So helpful to see a space that looks like our situation. I love your home for a model of "after" transformation...AND can you show more homes in your community that are in the "before" state, and how to deal with them?
I’d love to do that!!
🤩😍
@@TheMinimalMom That would be awesome! I loved when you helped Diana with her kitchen. It's great to see you tackle a crazy space and make it calm.
My parents built their house and lived in it for almost 65 years! I understand the blessing of having that childhood home to go home to. Your parents have built a wonderful legacy in your family.
Awesome job! Yes mama deserves a beautiful fresh pantry!
After a lifetime of living in cluttered glory, I have been decluttering and cleaning up my act. Partly this is so my family to have to deal with a bunch of dirty, useless clutter when I’m gone. It’s a loving gesture
When I decluttered my pantry the oldest thing expired in 2008 😆 so your Mum doesn’t have to be ashamed of anything!
I was thinking something similar...only 2013? She's an amateur. 🤣
Looks great and no judgment here, we all do it.
Your Mama is precious! Enjoy her and your Dad every day you can. I miss mine so much, but we’ll meet again in Heaven one Glorious Day!
Your parent’s must be so proud of all their children.
You are the kindness and most merciful woman to all of us that need your guidance.❤️🤗🙏🏻
Tom is such a good sport, loves you and your kids so much. What a great family!
This was wonderful. It's hard for us to imagine our own spaces when looking at you're own very minimized spaces. This is much more what my space looks like and it's easier to see that there is hope.
It’s not an expiration date…it is best if used by. 😁. Kudos to your mom for focusing on her family.
No judgement, we all love your mom!!! The pantry looks amazing!!!
Of course We do not hold anything against your mom. You made a beautiful job. And now your mother Can control the pantry 😊❤️
It was really good to see the decluttering tools used on a REAL project. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes I wonder if it’s more a ploy to get us to buy more.😂
It was actually developed to force retailers to rotate old stock off their shelves.
"Lawyer dates" as my dad calls them.
I'll usually use expired canned goods but I've had tomato sauce that exploded when I first punctured the lid-that's no good :D. (And that sauce wasn't expired).
I’ve heard that it’s not the food in cans that goes bad, but all the insect bits caught in the factory machinery that makes it into the cans 😂
In Australia we have expiry dates on things that come in packets and jars but not cans. Go figure!
Thanks mom for letting us she your space. You are a blessing. ❤️😁❤️🙏
Never be ashamed!!! It really is a comfort and inspiration!!! Love you guys!
Hello Dawn. Your mother is right in saying food should never be thrown away. We work very hard to earn in order to buy.
The painting really was the cherry on top!
Relief to have organized. Saving time & money to know at a glance what you have. Fresh coat of paint even better.
Bless your beautiful mum for being fearful of judgement & still being brave enough to do this 💖
I think the large majority of us have AT LEAST one area in our home that’s super disorganised& overwhelming & I think it’s so important to see REAL as opposed to perfect.
A huge thank to your mum for this 🙏😘🥰
