Maradona sabia bien que Muller era jugador de Alemania, su molestia fue precisamente porque le parecio raro hacer una conferencia en la misma mesa con un jugador del equipo contrario al lado y en eso tenia razon porque eso no se usa. Luego despues se contradijo diciendo que no sabia que era un jugador (quizas porque eso le aconsejaron que dijera para quedar bien) pero si lo sabia porque antes de irse lo dijo muy claro.

@@razzTOXIC, das war natürlich auch sehr schön, weil die Deutschen so gnadenlos effiezient waren, aber die Dramaturgie in dem Spiel gegen Argentinien war noch besser, was den Unterhaltungswert gesteigert hat. Die Geschichte der beiden Mannschaften miteinander, Maradonnas arrogantes Verhalten und die Tatsache, dass der Gegner hier mir seinem besten Spieler angetreten ist, machen das 4:0 für mich dann doch erinnerungswürdiger. Wobei mir natürlich bewusst ist, dass der subjektive Unterhaltungswert nicht so viel über die sportliche Qualität aussagt. Aber 2010 hat Deutschland noch einen berauschenden Angriffsfußball gespielt. Guck dir die Jungs an, die haben nichts zu verlieren. 2014 kam alles aus einer geordneten Defensive, das wirkte alles in allem erwachsener, aber ein bisschen weniger begeisternd.

In den Jahren danach hat man gegen Deutschland einfach klüger gespielt, da musste man auf den langsameren Ballbesitzfußball umsteigen.

Most Germans regard the 2014 WC as Schweinsteiger's best tournament and I beg to differ. The 2010 WC magnificently showed his elevation from a talented, joyful youngster that was critisized to not have the mentality for the really important matches (a characterisation he often faced as part of a duo with Podolski) to a truly world class player. Yes the image of the bleeding Schweinsteiger in the 2014 final might be more iconic, but this game against Argentina was his secret masterpiece.

I still enjoy this game more than the beating we gave to Brazil. We don't really have a "vicious" rivalry with the Brazilians even though they beat us in 2002. We play Argentina WAY more often than Brazil. I felt kind of bad for Brazil during the semifinal, but if we had done that to Argentina then I would have wanted Jogi and the boys to run the score up on them. I'm glad they showed mercy against Brazil though.

@Time Traveller Just from my memory, they met at least 5 times: 1986(Final), 1990(Final), 2006 (Last 8), 2010, (Last 8), 2014 (Final). Except for 1986, Germany won them all...
One of the best four or five German matches I‘ve ever seen. I started with the 1966 final in Wembley and in a few hours the 2024 EC will be opened playing against Scotland. I dont expect much, though.

I remember this game, were i Germany with my family (from Sweden) and we stayed in an village and went to a pub, and when the first goal came, a lady said to the cheering fans "well just make sure that it stays one-zero!" Then she went away and when she came back the fourth goal was scored and she was like "FOUR?!"
Looking back at this match, its one of the clearest examples of why Messi should've played for Spain. Argentina don't deserve him. And it's clearer by how humble he is in defeat compared to his teammates. Such a contrast.

Say what you will about Germany vs Brazil and Germany vs Argentina from 2014, both were wonderful matches, this match from 2010 is my favorite Germany performance.
This German team (2010 & 2014), on their 'good days' used to play like a menacing & well-oiled machine.
Brazil, in 2014 should have remembered this match after conceding their early goal & strengthened their defence. Maybe they would have conceded less than 7. :)
