The reason why he was so sad is because his girlfriend cheated on him. That's why he made No Respect. "What did you expect" is a part of a text he sent her. His girlfriend was Toopoor or Layla in this case. I don't wanna go to much into detail, you'll figure out yourself man.

It's really heartbreaking, he just has this empty stare during the whole video, and his voice... I'm pretty sure he was high during the making of this

for me i don’t relate to the parts he talks abt drugs in his songs much but instead some of the pain he feels because of peoples views and also the relationship stuff he sings about a lot, so while i dont relate to everything he says there is still a great deal that i do

The problem, espicially now a days is that people react with emotions some times even very deep emotions cause they feel hurted for what you said about someone (example). In they end its a learning perspective that the person who wrote to you needs to work on. Control your own brain and you will find out how nice life can be, have control for once!

Speaking absolute facts. This song was one of his that did not appeal to me at the time, it's sad, depressing, and I couldn't relate to how dark it actually is until after I had been through that. Also for anyone reading this who hasn't been through that, this is not me saying you should because you absolutely should not do these things for the sake of relating more to the artists you look up to.
