Aizawa is definitely tough but very caring. At first I thought he is demotivating izuku but he saved his life. Izuku was very reckless with his powers till s4, without recovery girl he would have injured himself permanently. Aizawa may look like apathetic guy, but is very Caring and he believes his students (as seen during hero license segment)

They promised to become pro heroes and have their own agency together but, during a mission, shirakumo died and after that, Aizawa and Yamada split up. In the manga it's revealed that Shirakumo had his body stolen by the villains and now he is the villain Kurogiri.

Aizawa and Kakashi, I swear, I just love seemingly lazy, apathetic, super strict teacher that turns out to be really amazing and devoted to his students archetype.
