As much as I wish them all the success in the world, I love having great bands that I love to not be huge. I love seeing my favorite bands in small venues. I’ve sen Doves 5 times in small clubs here in the States. I’ve seen Starsailor and Soulsavers with Mark Lanegan in small venues as well. They’re always better than large outdoor festival situations.
What a beautiful song , they were truly one of the best bands of the 90's/00's , they didn't get the credit they deserve, a tragedy in that respect, they're absolutely brilliant
WOW! As a leftie who was forced to learn how to play right handed guitar, I am THOROUGHLY impressed with the singer/ rhythm guitarist! It is extremely difficult to play a right handed guitar upside down. My hat is off to you, sir!
Depressing songs are powerful...they relate to the hardest parts of our lives, and the parts that most people don't want to face. Although this song isn't entirely depressing...the chorus starts off with a major chord, the realization that moving on is possible and doable...but holy crap is it difficult. That's what this song is about to me, about having your heart broken whether it be through breakup or death, wanting to move on and feel better....but coming to grips with the reality that it can seem daunting and impossible. Like how everything reminds you of those times, and you can't see how that will ever stop. You look at everything around you as a part of that decay, and not for what it is in the big picture.
I really miss doves. Incredible band. I was truly obsessed as a teenager in 2005 onwards. Living in Inverness meant i didn't get to see them until years later. Whe I did, it was at Warrington Town Hall, the band played an entire gig pre-release of their album to a very small crowd and didnt talk much. Just incredible music, some of which we had never heard. Shortly after followed the Manchester Central gig, which was an incredible experience. Then a couple of weeks later I went to see them locally in Southampton. A totally mainstream undreatred band with a huge following. Music so very chilled out but very well composed at the same time.
they are phenomenal live (i had the pleasure a couple of times). Good news for you is that rumour has it they will be announcing a tour on 3rd Dec 2018 (this coming Monday)
I hear a sound A sound above my head Distant sound of thunder Moving out on the moor Blackbirds flew in Into the cooling towers I'll pack my bags Thinking of one of those hours With you Waiting for you My god It takes an ocean of trust In the Kingdom of Rust I long to feel Some beauty in my heart As I go searching Right to the start The road back to Preston Was covered all in snow As I went looking For that stolen heart For you Waiting for you My god It takes an ocean of trust Takes an effort, it does My god It takes an ocean of trust It's in the Kingdom of Rust In the Kingdom of Rust I long to feel That wince in my heart As I went looking I couldn't stop Now I'm Waiting for you I know It takes an ocean of trust In the Kingdom of Rust
God they were good, I was fortunate enough to see them on their 'Kingdom of Rust' tour in 09 at Southampton and I travelled 80 miles to see them, it was well worth it.
Simply awesome. So much of their music is timeless. Thank God they were never really part of a 'scene' so never 'uncool' and could just keep on producing the music they wanted...we wanted...hope for more someday!
Top Gear showed me this song, and I've loved it for a decade and more. That music video is absolutely beautiful. To see my home area represented so artistically, yet so realistically, touches me. It's my own little Déz Vu experience, driving in a car, with this on, driving past Saddleworth or on the country roads between East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, to Todmorden, or to Burnley, or to Colne.
I said this about Hanoi Rocks in the 80's... This is another band that is criminally neglected... so much more talent than their more successful peers... Doves and Gomez and Elbow... So incredible.
Superb performance of a superb song. I knew that Jimi played his right handed bass upside down, I've just noticed in this video that he's playing his 6 string acoustic upside down as well! How?!!
I've been asking myself the same thing. I saw them in Montreal years ago and he blew my mind. Asked him about it on twitter but he simply reply with a wink emoji ahah
I'm sure they will be back in the future. Jimi is well worth seeing solo / with his new band as some of the tracks are just like Doves classic tracks. Instant classics.
I can see Jodrell Bank and Winter Hill from my bathroom window, which gives me a weird connection to these guys. Looking forward to seeing them at Bearded Theory later this year! X
Anyone in 2023 still loving this song as much as I?
No am in 2024. It's class.
I just discovered that song 2024. It's Masterpiece.
My God! 2024 here
Yes! love it whatever the year 🎉
Jimi Goodwin. Absolutely fantastic.
So, these guys are responsible for all the heartache I've been having?
Hell of a song.
Right? Only few bands can do it
Muitas horas de replay ouvindo a mesma música.
Sou viciada nela❤
Jimi's a criminally underrated bass player. Guy's got feel for days. This band should be so much bigger than they are.
And Jimi plays a right handed guitar, strung the right handed way, flipped upside down. Bonkers.
Exceptional song from an exceptionally underrated band. I really really miss them...
Same. But good news, they're getting back together for a bit :-)
Miss no more, they are reforming, so wish I was in UK to see them! And I miss them too.
New album dropping this year once this Covid bullshit fucks off
@@jyames1 Second single Prisoners out on Friday (10/07)
New album September.
this song is haunting my mind throughout the years in a good way
don’t care what anyone says doves are one of the best bands ever, not just in britain truly class group
Damn right they are.
My God it takes an ocean of trust
I remember saying to Jimi when he was 15 that he should be a lead vocalist and he shyly just laughed at me ha ha Nice one!
What a beautiful song , they were truly one of the best bands of the 90's/00's , they didn't get the credit they deserve, a tragedy in that respect, they're absolutely brilliant
I'm right with you there Will. Still hoping they may get back together, but it's becoming a very long 'hiatus'... :(
PROPER MUSICIANS! -------------SHEER CLASS, THANKS DOVES!
Top performance quality vocals
10/10
Since losing me mam this songs means so much more to me..it makes me cry but the good memories always come up too.
This belter of a song should have more views
most emotionally raw rustic version of this song those acoustics harmonise beautifully blown away
9 years, damn. Still one of my favorite songs.
This song never gets old.
WOW! As a leftie who was forced to learn how to play right handed guitar, I am THOROUGHLY impressed with the singer/ rhythm guitarist! It is extremely difficult to play a right handed guitar upside down. My hat is off to you, sir!
As a lefty I have had several “righty’s “ but always strung them left. To just pick up a righty and inverse all the chords and bars is phenomenal!!
Even when he plays his Fender P
Pure class.Music for grown ups...I love it!!!
Not long discovered doves love them
This is real music! 💗
This version is better than the album version for me, can't believe the little amount of views it's had!
Bump.

This song makes me want to go on a trip while it snows. Hoping to find someone whom I can travel with...
Come back guys, we need you!😢
I really miss doves.

Music so very chilled out but very well composed at the same time.
Spot on
Jeez, I could sit here and listen to there melodic music forever. I haven't had the privilege of ever seeing them live... beautiful

Drove a '77 Triumph Dolly 1850 round most of the country in the early 90s. Happiest time of my life.
Jane Baldwin I crashed my mums when I was 15 it was brown then scraped... she still holds it against me now
Most underrated band ever!

Funny, I was thinking of a yellow Hummer to Hollywood..
exceptional song period. Love from canada
I hear a sound
A sound above my head
Distant sound of thunder
Moving out on the moor
Blackbirds flew in
Into the cooling towers
I'll pack my bags
Thinking of one of those hours
With you
Waiting for you
My god
It takes an ocean of trust
In the Kingdom of Rust
I long to feel
Some beauty in my heart
As I go searching
Right to the start
The road back to Preston
Was covered all in snow
As I went looking
For that stolen heart
For you
Waiting for you
My god
It takes an ocean of trust
Takes an effort, it does
My god
It takes an ocean of trust
It's in the Kingdom of Rust
In the Kingdom of Rust
I long to feel
That wince in my heart
As I went looking
I couldn't stop
Now I'm
Waiting for you
I know
It takes an ocean of trust
In the Kingdom of Rust
Edoardo Mustacchia he sings "I long to feel that winter in my heart"
Still love this song like it was written yesterday
I love the acoustic version. Rocking the fuck out man.
Love this acoustic version.
Seen doves bout 6 or 7 times live, always amazing, but this acoustic version is simply brilliant! 👍

God they were good, I was fortunate enough to see them on their 'Kingdom of Rust' tour in 09 at Southampton and I travelled 80 miles to see them, it was well worth it.

Great to hear those guitars sounding so good outside. Love it.

Timeless band / timeless music.
Hope the next Doves album is not too long away.
I said this about Hanoi Rocks in the 80's... This is another band that is criminally neglected... so much more talent than their more successful peers... Doves and Gomez and Elbow... So incredible.
Underrated band, for sure.
Awesome. I love these guys. So down to earth. A brilliant performance too

This sounds so good! It's like a top studio session but it's outside with two acoustic guitars! Wonderful song

Loved this song for so many years, I’m going to give it a go and hopefully do it justice 😮
Superb performance of a superb song. I knew that Jimi played his right handed bass upside down, I've just noticed in this video that he's playing his 6 string acoustic upside down as well! How?!!
