I’m just realising how my horse is quite similar to yours. He smiles loads before putting on the bridle every time. He does the same rearing and hopping around on the way home. And he stamps around when the saddle goes on. He acts more like a mare than all the mares do!
Use a bossy bids mane guard there are soo good. You put theses on under a rug and the help prevent horse manes rubbing. The work better on a detachable neck but work on both. Xx
My gelding had the same issue!! Half his mane gone... I found out the issue with him was I was over rugging!! Sounds crazy but he’s come out of winter this year with a full mane! Not saying that’s the situation you have but that was mine ☺️ X
my 4 year old does the same thing as Vegas where the first 20-30 minutes of a ride she will be spooky, flighty and hot but after that she’s usually amazing...
my horse has sweet itch and tends to rub her mane but since we bought a lotion called MTG which i put in her main every couple days she’s looking alot better
There’s quite a few sweetitch support groups on facebook, there’s a lot of different tips and tricks that work for some but not others, lots of nice people that are happy to give any advice. I’m on my 3rd horse with sweetitch seem to attract them. :)
Vegas is literally the exact same as my mare when tacking up/ putting a rug on etc... But it’s just on of her quirks, otherwise she’s an absolute saint😂
My mare hated being groomed until I sorted out her diet! She has a super sensitive gut by nature and all the inflammation made her hate being groomed, saddled, girthed etc. Even putting the slightest amount of leg on her would make her toss her head and pin her ears. I figured it was pain and partially being a mare but she's really sweetened up with a new diet and adding in mare magic to help her painful heat cycles. I simply feel like mares are misunderstood a lot of the time. You just need to be patient and listen to them - and of course take the 'faces' with a grain of salt! Nothing more rewarding than earning the trust of a mare. :)
Elise Hermann hi, I was wondering what u food u have put your mare on as I have a chestnut thoroughbred mare who is very sensitive like when brushing her she will threaten to kick out in quite a few places and when you tack her up, stoke her nd do her rug she pins her ears nd swishes her tail. We have always put it down to her being a chestnut mare but I have been looking into supplement to chill her out a bit.
Oliver G so I could write a really long confusing reply to this question so instead of that will guide you to the blogs I read that literally changed the way I feed my mare (my riding instructor also feeds all her horses this way after she saw the results I got). My mare is a 17 hand Tb/Hanoverian and I do have to feed her more than some of the hardier horses and we have garage pasture sadly. Also, I learned quickly that the topic of ‘how to feed your horse’ can get pretty heated. At the end of the day do what you think is best, but we have a barn full of horses thriving on this simple feed regime. Dr. Geoff Tucker Is the vet/equine dentist who wrote the blogs (he isn’t trying to sell you a product either). The best part is you learn how a horses gut works then learn what feed he recommends. Aside from his core feed regime I do add in Mare Magic (raspberry leaf) to help with her painful heat cycle and so far I’ve seen a positive change. I also add in a 1/2 pound of copra a day (coconut meal) as she is a thin gal and needs a little extra fat. And occasionally a sugar free electrolyte when she isn’t drinking enough water. It’s a good bit of information (12 blog posts) so break it up - theequinepractice.com/decomplexicating-equine-nutrition-introduction/
Oliver G hope you enjoy it! It really helped my mare. Happy to answer any specific questions or share pictures/more details about my mares journey on a grain free diet (she’s a training level eventing horse in low/moderate work at the moment due to covid)
If your pony has sweet itch I've been told there is this pill where you give it to your horse everyday for a year and the women who told me said her horse hasn't had sweet itch for about 3-4 years and this includes not needing to be rugged or anything.
This might sound like I'm being one of those internet 8yr old trainers😂but seriously be careful wearing lace up shoes while riding I did this and fell off I got my foot caught in the stirrup my horse soon realized he needed to slow down thank god but I still sprained my ankle from being dragged and tbh never again
Idk how u do 2 horses and hack them out also there stables and u only have 1hour 30 mins and it takes me 5 hours to ride 1 pony in my ménage and also poo pick and do hay like idk how u do it so quick like I’m shook. Lovely flat work. Any tips as my pony was a games pony but now is a show jumper and need to work on the grind woek
Hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know if you’re interested in these types of videos❤️

Eventing Melody Thank you!!! 😁💛🤍
We use kill itch lotion it’s a bit on the expensive side but for us it’s helped stop duke rubbing his mane and it promoted hair growth !!!!
Crystal is there like wohoooo let’s go and lily just like ‘ohhh there’s a butterfly’ 🤣love the vid 😍
Hi I'm here 4 yrs later
I’m just realising how my horse is quite similar to yours. He smiles loads before putting on the bridle every time. He does the same rearing and hopping around on the way home. And he stamps around when the saddle goes on. He acts more like a mare than all the mares do!
When she rears that’s exactly what my horse Alfie does when i ask him to carry on 🐴😂
There is literally nothing i can do 😂💖🐴
please do more of these i absolutely love them!! 😻
I love how you can fit schooling AND a hack into an hour and 30 minutes! It’s honestly amazing I could never 😅
Use a bossy bids mane guard

My friend said that coconut oil can help a horses mane grow!
Im not completely sure tho 💖
It works miracles ! I used it on my welshies mane
Livi. EQ that’s what I use
castor oil works BEST!

I love crystals bridle , the purple padding tho 😍😱❤️
I love that you named this “tack up and ride with me” most you tubers would name it “REARING, BUCKING, NAUGHTY PONY RIDE!” 😅😂
OMG SO TRUE LOVE THIS
omg my horse does the same panting and my trainer and I call her a dragon too!!!! my pony also does the hops when she is rly excited!!!!
You can use a Lycra hood like the ones from Horse hoods so it doesn’t rub the mane out,
but to help the growth put coconut or caster oil on daily!❤️
your horse has my name
i feel blessed
Yay a new vid ❤️
I really enjoyed this video 😊I also love your bridle I’m gonna check it out for my mare !
Loved this video so so much!! So great to have stuff to watch at this time!! Definitely want to see more of these🙈🥰
Loved this video kaizen rears and bucks when he’s bored so like Vegas he ha ago be worked as soon as we get into the arena with very minimal walk x
premier equine rugs don't rub their mane out cos of how their hoods are,I only have their rugs now as that's what happened to my gelding
gotta love lil crystal bean and vegas🥺🥺
My gelding had the same issue!! Half his mane gone... I found out the issue with him was I was over rugging!! Sounds crazy but he’s come out of winter this year with a full mane! Not saying that’s the situation you have but that was mine ☺️ X
I use a few different products from thomas pettifer (switch & herbal elixar)
Loved thisss❤️
I used a thing called stinky stuff and stop my mare from rubbing it also helps with growth ❤️

Loved this, you inspured me to make my own 'hack with me' yours is as nutty as mine! xx
Do you keep your horses at someone else's barn/agistment? It looks beautiful!
Yes my horse has sweet itch so we try to use a lot of lotion and fly spray but nothing works.
I've just sold my sweet itch pony and we used d-itch for her which really helped

I love how she just laughs through crystals rearing 😂
crystal is the best xx
How do you keep a nice slow canter with crystal whilst hacking? My pony either either keeps going back to trot or does a speedy canter any advice?
I have horses myself and when they rub their tail or main I uses baby oil, it works for my horses
Love these types of videos!
Vegas is literally the exact same as my mare when tacking up/ putting a rug on etc... But it’s just on of her quirks, otherwise she’s an absolute saint😂
I put a hood on my pony and it usually works pretty well to salvage their mane❤
I use coconut oil for my chestnut pony and it helps her lots, also smells really good.
Sorry this is late lol
I love them!
Yup my horse lulu main omast failed off
