    Update: with this method the interior lights will stay on, so I ended up hooking up a toggle switch which will temporarily ground the circuit to turn the alarm off when and if it activates. I have since sold the vehicle, however I believe the issue lied in the drivers side lock cylinder due to the alarm not going off if I unlocked it pressing the key harder than usual. Best of luck everyone!

      Never take apart your dash unless you are installing a new head unit for an aftermarket car stereo. lol But guess what, you don't want to do that anyway. Keep your stock OEM head unit in the dash, and buy either a Kicker or Recoil Line Output Converters (or Audiocontrol if you can afford it). It allows you to connect your EOM in dash unit to your new amp, while filtering the signal and boosting the signal. Why only those 3? Because they are the only 3 that perform properly, and do not "distort" the signal to your amp. 95% of all LOC's are junk. Most pre=amps on head units only generate a 1 - 3 volt signal, and you are looking for a 5 - 6 volt signal. The Kicker and Recoil are $25, and that will be "the best" $25 you can spend on your car stereo upgrade. A LOC is the best investment for your stereo if you want great sound quality regardless of which amp you purchase (it's a game changer). Plus, it will allow your amp to run cooler improving its performance. I can say, you won't be disappointed. In fact, you may be amazed. And up to you if you want to tell your friends or not, that way keeping your stereo system the best one out of all your buddy's car stereos. lol. Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out these stupid Jeep car alarms. Wish I could add something other than not too sure what is presented is being "complete" and "accurate". I think I'm just going to bypass the whole damn Jeep Anti-Theft system, and run the horn on a seperate circuit. Nobody seems to be confident on what to do, and not just this channel either. It's a 2001 Cherokee, who cares right? Please steal it so I can get a newer vehicle that doesn't have 240K miles on it. lol

    I was having the same problem, but it also would go off in the middle of the night. I found my purple and yellow wire in the bundle right next to my bonnet opener. I soldered a piece of wire to the purple and yellow wire then removed a self tapping bolt from the bonnet opener's mounting bracket and put the other end of my wire in the hole to make contact with the body. It has stopped the annoying alarm going off at 3.00am, but the vehicle still locks automatically with the fob, drives fine and no mad alarm that doesn't want to shut off. It turned out that the boot glass was showing it was open even when the glass was shut tight, this was causing the problem. There was no parasitic battery drain at all. The cabin lights worked properly as well. Thank you for your video!

      You can't reconnect the cut wire without it reconnecting the circuit. using the same ground point. lol ????? Except to reconnect the circuit. Electricity 101. If you want to bypass the alarm, the owner's manual says to manually lock the doors. Reading. It's actually good for you. They didn't print the owner's manual for no reason.

    Great information! I lost my transmitter, and was able to do the passenger door method to disable the alarm, but now thats not working. Maybe I can try the liftgate.
    The only way the alarm stops is if I let the it sound for over 3 mins, and that is annoying for me and my neighbors. I will have to find someone to do this or take it to a Jeep dealer.
    Thanks!

    update: for the interior lights to shut off you don't ground both separate sides of the purple/yellow wire, only one, i'm pretty sure its the one running away from the door. You cap off the other wire and now your alarm won't go off and your interior lights will automatically shut off

  • @paulnicholson1906
    @paulnicholson1906 2 года назад

    A lot of times it is the little switch at the lock cylinder. For a long time I had to unlock the hatch to disarm the alarm. The first time it happened it clarified a comment the guy made after I bought it. He said something about unlocking the back if the alarm went off and somehow I remembered this. Anyway today it wouldn’t work and I was thinking of looking in the front door for the wires and realized that the same wires go to the back. That was easier than taking the door apart. Anyway I took the little red switch off and moved it with a little screwdriver and it started up. You could either replace the switch or spray it with some contact cleaner probably.

  • @brucemaddox5744

    This was a fix. Also I had to lock all the doors and unlock the passenger door with my key. I locked the passenger door and went to the driver door and unlocked it and now the engine will run. That will reset your security system. Also be careful not to cut your rear windshield wiper fuild hose. This is from experience 😅

      01 Grand Cherokee with chip key. Needed a new ignition. Attached the original chip key to the security box in the steering column. The original key fob works for the doors & the security was hit or miss on whether it would lock out when you would try to start it. Cutting the wire & grounding only the one end going down under the floor fixed the security issue & the interior lights did not stay on once I lock it with the key fob.

      You're security anti theft feature is likely active. You need to change the battery in your key fob, then press the unlock button and try to start it up after that. It needs to read the frequency from the key fob to see if it matches the frequency required to allow the vehicle to start.

    • @roobetaffiliateonlybypass9756
