    There's no point to the 100 mA fuse. The 50k resistor will limit the max current of the whole thing to under 5 mA anyway, so the fuse would never blow, even in a dead short. For better safety, you should put the resistor on the hot line instead of the neutral (it would also be better to use two resistors in series instead of just one, and cover the hot conductor and the resistors in shrink tubing so they're all insulated and you can't accidentally touch them.
    Reducing the resistor to 4.7k will allow it to charge up faster, but will not increase the maximum amount of voltage or charge it can reach. For that you will need more multiplier stages (for more voltage = longer spark), or larger capacitors (for more charge = brighter / longer-lasting spark). Also note that using a 4.7k also makes the circuit *considerably less safe* as it allows enough current to pass that you can actually cause sustained electrocution if you touch across the lower stage of the multiplier circuit by accident.
