No need to be a dick bud. His 1st fish on the fly doesn't have to be a monster. You gonna go pick on a kid catching bluegills and tell him to chase tuna and marlin?@@UnhingedFlyFishing
@@UnhingedFlyFishing Gophuck Yaself. Man just sharing his new love and positivity and you acting like he can’t enjoy things. Ya mama a large mouth and knows about 14inchers.
Welcome to the cult. I mean. Club. Yeah, the club. Smallmouth are a special addiction. As the old saying goes, "When you hook a largemouth, they are scared. When you hook a smallmouth, they are _angry."_
I never comment on YT but this is the Hugest Huge video on the Huge channel (and I have watched them all) and I just had to say something! I live just a couple hours from the everglades entrance and fish it many many times a year. Finding the fish can be like going to hell and back but it is worth it. It is such a special place and you did it justice with this video. Lets keep the glades HUGE!
Light Bulb is the best saltwater fly I’ve ever used. Tom does a great job tying them. Just returned from Alaska and caught everything from Pike to Grayling on that pattern.
Haven’t caught tarpon on fly but have on spinning gear. It’s counterintuitive but you need to point your rod at them when they jump and give them some slack. You bow to the king.
Awesome. I was down there last week and did only two days. Maybe I saw you out there? :) The rains apparently made the Tarpon a bit more picky was still managed to hook a few. I'll be making that a yearly trip for sure
I’m not anywhere near a pro but I know that you can put your rod tip in the water when you have a lot of slack which will create drag and put tension on the fish. Hope this helps some people. 👍
I found myself laughing along with you as you hooked fish! Such a fun video. You didn't want to touch the tarpon??? I probably would have... Thanks for sharing!
@@bensmithmyer4048 that’s what I’ve heard, figured a 100lb+ tarpon on an 8wt would be the fight of your life and you’d have to chase it down in a boat for an hour
Last week I got my first fly catch it was a dink 14 inch small mouth but it was on of the most exciting fishing experiences I've had
Welcome to the family 🫂
try catching real fish bud

Really good video. Semi normal people doing semi normal things rather than the BS many videos have. Where did you stay?

Bow to the silver king when he jumps!

Late to the party but sweeet video, dude. Brooks hammering it out with some crazy locations!
I love "blank casting" lol! Seriously though, hooking up when you can't see on the strip is such great feeling :)

Gorgeous Tarpon! I'm exhausted just watching you fight it!
Awesome trip! What gear you use?

Alright that’s it I’m booking a Florida trip
Amazing trip, thanks for sharing.
What weight fly rod you using for the big tarpon? Trying to see how far I can stretch my 8wt!
10wt is pretty standard for tarpon… sometimes more for BIG ones

Congrats dude !
Can't deny the joy.
What weight rod are you using for tarpon?

Triple Tail!
Teach a man to fish, and you get rid of him for four days.
….because he’ll sit in a boat and drink beer all day! 🍻
Noice.
Do you reel right in big fish and left when you target smaller fish?
All of my reels are RHR
