How American Tent Came To Be?
The owner of the company, Tony Ehrbar, had purchased a tent rental company and ran that for a year. Then the person who we purchased it from also had the tent manufacturing company and said, hey, do you want to buy this one as well. We make several different kinds of tents. We make pole tents, frame tents, clear tents, party tents, wedding tents, etc. We make them in regular 60 oz. vinyl. Basically, anything that has to do with vinyl.
Why Did You Choose Miller Weldmaster?
When we purchased the company from the previous owner, they had an older model T500, in which we're still using to this day. Knowing that's where that machine came from, we liked that machine. We just needed to upgrade to a newer model. That's how we ended up at Miller. The first machine we purchased from Miller was a T600. We have three of them so that tells you they've done the job for us. The operators really like using them for our smaller tents and sidewalls. We use the Miller machines to weld all the seams together. The RFlex does the flat welds wielding the alligator clips and the weldable webbing on to the tents. Purchasing the 112 has decreased our production time on our large tents by about 40%. It's also been great ergonomically when we're making 30 and 40 wide tents. When I went to the IFAI show, now ATA, I discovered the Moduline displayed at the Miller booth and fell in love with that machine. In fact, I text the owner of the company with a picture and said I'm in love. The Moduline actually does cut, hem and grommet the sidewalls as it's coming off the machine. It's a nice flow of how it goes from one Miller machine to another to get the product made completely.
Would You Recommend Miller Weldmaster?
I recommend Miller. It's a very cool place to work from what I’ve seen. The salespeople are amazing. They've done a great job of meeting our needs and making suggestions that will help us purchase the correct machine for what we needed to do. We've purchased a small machine in the past that then didn't end up doing what we needed to do. Miller is excellent at saying hey, we're going to trade that in for something that will be better qualified to do what you need it to do. Our maintenance guy can call up and get technical help right over the phone many times they can answer the questions that they have in no time. I just can't say enough about all the customer service that Miller provide to us.
