The game designers specifically put those walls and choke points in for the player to use. Who on Earth would call using them cheese?

@@richardvlasek2445 I dont think its true. He gets a lot when he plays skaven weapon stacks that using ranged and distrupt with heroes is cheese... For some reason people think the only "real" tactic is to altillery -> ranged skirmish -> beat them in melee -> run down with cavalry... This shows most people actually only played the game on easy or maybe normal and possibly with cheats or mods and now idea how legendary difficulty works (where a tier 4 unit can loose to a tier one in melee :D )

Now this is a rare engagement. Wood Elves never leave their forests in my campaigns. They just sit at home declaring war on whoever they please, without taking any actions against them
In my recent khemri campaign the wood elves have gone on a mad bender, they're strength rank 4 (higher than the dwarfs or empire!), own most of bretonnia and have come all the way down to the desert and are smashing me along with the rest of the inevitable good guys alliance

Yeah I would go and take it all away from them but sadly I cant push up past the badlands, taking up to where you can go west around the ocean always gets me killed because the dwarfs are pretty big and they come from the east whilst tilea and the wood elves come from the west
I might be able to hold that off if that was all it happened but I always have to hold 3 of my armies in reserve on the desert coast because carcassonne, ostermark and talbecland or however you spell it keep sailing across the sea from sartosa at the same time
Think it's an unwinnable situation unless I can manage to drag the dark elves (they're strength ranks 1 and 2) on to my side but they dont like me :(
In the one I'm playing now as Dread Fleet, I have 2 armies in their territory raiding and they will not attack me.

Holding Choke Points and setting up Killzones is considered Cheese? since when is basic defensive strategy cheese? Do people just click on enemy units and expect to just win? (this is in no way targeted at anyone specifically, certainly not the sender of this save) I'm just surprised.

Those same people probably play the game on easy or normal amd crtl a and right click the closest enemy

@@sawsonex3215 How so? That's how a fort is designed to be fought even in real life, way back when. A fort was made expecting to lose the outer walls, so that troops got funneled in to fight in tight corridors to remove any sort of advantage that numbers gave them. That's why only the lowest class citizens lived in the outer wall regions. That's also why sieges lasted for years; no one wanted to just blindly run into a kill-box, like the AI does in TW:W2. Lol
As much as I don’t like cheese strats, I don’t understand how this would be considered one of them. Isn’t this just completely standard military tactics? lol

He was calling a Moot and then he saw Legend killing trees and became triggered.
Nice battle and a solid victory. Empire forts are a lot of fun - you managed to hold the upper square nicely by thoughtful use of the layout. Deployment time well spent, general. Oh, and: GO HANDGUNNERS! They really toasted that welf hero on his "here I am shoot me" mount.
Trying to dodge Woody Lord/Hero arrows is a very bad idea, the Woddies have trueflight arrows. There was no cheese there, you simply held choke points and defended ... perfectly valid.

Learnt so many techniques watching your vids. Used to auto battle because I didn’t know how to command the armies but now is use all the cheese and strays you teach. Feels good not losing my units. Thanks

Lol, I had to create and build a special army to defeat the Wood Elves.
They always seem to get fruity on my campaigns, and i tend to put them down around turn 70-90
And of course Legend smashes them with a garrison

This map is unstoppable in my games.
My strategy is to position your handgunners on the platforms on either side of the main ramp, where they can reach out and shoot units climbing the walls. Then the crossbowmen can sit next to them and shoot units coming up the central ramp or milling about in the courtyard. The 3rd tier is where you stick artillery allowing them to shoot enemies standing outside the fort’s walls (cavalry), climbing the walls, or with manual aim you bomb the bottom of the ramp while your troops hold the middle or top. Your halberdiers and knights need to guard the flanks, and you should cycle out your troops holding the ramp to keep them fresh.
Also the AI tends to send infantry lords and characters ahead of the main army, so while the rest of his troops are climbing the walls you can let your handgunners unload into a vulnerable lord looking to duel your captain.

Holding chokepoints and creating killzones are NOT cheese. They are some of the oldest and most ancient military tactics used throughout mankind's history. Good job, Legend!
Most RUclipsrs are planting Trees while Legends wipe them out.

That Garrison gained a fair few chevrons there :D . Gonna make the next time so much easier eh :D

Metal Shards bombardment spell (Forget the actual name) is really OP on large units (Units like Durthu), just FYI. Unless they patched it up recently. Look it up on one of Turin's videos. It almost "one shots" them.

Gotta love watching rockets destroy everything in sight.
(also, this is by far my favorite siege map to defend on, the perfect placement for ranged and artillery in the front where Legend put his gunners makes it so easy)

At 9:15 it said "The enemy gates are destroyed!"
Is that a bug? Shouldn't it say "your gate"?
No because the enemy controlled the gates, so it's theirs and when they destroy it they're destroying their gates.
@@yaboi5890 makes sense! I didn't think about the fact that when they take control of it it becomes "theirs". I was just thinking of it in the context of the fort

So I have a question. I'm doing a Chaos mortal empires right now and just attacked a settlement with no reserve army. Weird thing was that asides from the normal Empire medium garrison they had two units that had no business being there. A Thane and a Waystalker! It wasn't a bother it just kinda made me think something's wrong! Is this something anyone has come across before?

my boi just met the ubersreik five or four it doesn't matter.
that's the ubersreik special building, the red moon inn if I'm not mistaken, and I think it's a reference to warhammer : vermintide, as the four units it provides as garnison witch hunter, wauwatcher bright wizard and thane in stead of dwarf ranger are the fur playable characters of vermintide.

That's different, those are more then just artillery. Same with a Steamtank or Luminark.
I prefer none or one piece max, you have to protect it, you have to babysit the firing, the game WILL make you hit your own at least once, and if you manually control it you miss what else is going on. Better use the slot for a wizard.

artilery in general "with a few exceptions of course" are a niche unit
but depending on comp on circumstances and MU can make artilery or even artilery heavy armies quite good

Is the wood elf dlc worth buying? Is it fun to play in ME?
I dont think you get the full use of it in TW:WH2 unlike the first game where the DLC gave you a seperate shorter campaign, so if you own the first game its maybe worth checking out otherwise id leave it unless its on a cheap deal or your a fan of the faction.

@@dreamer5234 it isn't that it's poorly balanced. it's that their mechanics genuinely suck and starve them of amber and power until 150+ turns into the game.

@@notaskaven964 I tried something just like that but I failed because 3 army vs 3army we fought and he had 6 rocket. I will try again or force him to peace. I will let dwarfs get rid of him
@@ahmettayyipaydin6925 If you are able to deny them reinforcements the artillery will show up last so you can get some fast cav or whatever to kill and rout them straight off the battlefield before they can fire on your troops
