Okay so first I want to apologize for all the editing errors, I edited this video on a flight to Asia and did a rushed job. With that being said, I didn’t have time to look for the dress pictures from 2 years ago because I am simply tired & working but I promise I will put it in my community tab.
The other thing is, I agree it was rude but I think the way he reacted made me become stubborn and not see his point of view because he came off too harsh in my opinion. In America, we are use to everyone answering their phone anywhere anytime so I projected my POV on to him.
I agree with you about how the way he acted towards you . Regardless of custom norms within their culture(s) vs ours , we’re still taught a level of decency such as when you told your mom you couldn’t stay otp for long. He should’ve took that into consideration because I do not think u were rude at all when u expressed your pov to him . The miscommunication was mainly on his part for assuming that you were automatically going to understand what the cultural norms for him were . He most definitely could have did a way better job explaining without projecting his voice & catching an attitude .

As a Muslim girl, the 1st red flag is the fact that he was Muslim. Dating isn't even allowed in Islaam so some (Muslim guys) know they most likely cannot get a Muslim girl to date them. Therefore, they look for non-Muslim women, knowing they probably can't marry her (see clarification below) - they only want a bit of fun before have to go with someone who is also Muslim/their parents and community approves of. 😔

1. I'm talking about Muslim men who show no commitment to marriage - Muslim men can marry women from the Abrahamic religions (Jews and Christians), but there are strict rules on this. But as with Muslim women, they should not be dating them. It should be a case of approaching her family to get to know her and for her hand in marriage.
2. If they are not doing the above, please just stay away from them! For both yours and their future wife's sake because they are most likely not sincere in approaching you!

I think it was a clash of cultures more than anything. Many ME men place lots of emphasis on family/community opinion of their significant other. When going out with them, it would be best to dress feminine but modest ie: no cleavage, shoulders exposed,back out or dresses above the knee. Men are supposed to remain chaste until marriage as well. Since their “dating” is really vetting for marriage they tend to be quite forward about expectations. As far as the phone, It’s technically rude to answer your cell during a formal dinner. I think this is just a non western thing. It would have been better to excuse yourself to the ladies room and take the call or call your mom back. ME men tend to be excellent providers and will make sure you’re secure and comfortable however, some have a domineering personality, expectation that you’ll 100% fall in line with their plans and trust them. I absolutely don’t believe in any kind of abusive behavior but, them wanting you to be modest is also their form of protecting your virtue as well and they are strict about social manners. It’s really just their upbringing. ❤

It is rude to take a call when you’re at a table with someone. Cell phones shouldn’t even be on the table. Your phone should be turned off or silenced. If you need to field a call or text, excuse yourself from the table and go to a location away from the dining area. Remember, if your phone is out, this indicates that it is more important than the person(s) you are dining with.
I am someone who cares about decency and etiquette but this is just reaching. It's not that deep. If that's the tone we're setting just on the first date then don't be surprised when you don't develop much closeness during the relationship.

Muslim men love their own women and that's all you need to know about them should you date another. They are very religious and marry within their religion. You would have to become Muslim for one to ever even consider taking you seriously. So, for the most part, they approach women outside of their faith hoping to get an easy lay.

My cousin has been married for over 25 years to a Muslim man, and she never converted. She is still Baptist. He doesn’t have a problem with it. He actually raised her son and daughter, even though they weren’t his kids and treated them as though they were his own. He looks out for her. While they were dating he tried to be controlling and she shut that down with the quickness. He thought he was gonna tell her what she could and couldn’t wear, and she told him he didn’t have a problem with it when he was pursuing her and dating. She let him know she wasn’t going to change the way she dressed for him either he accepted or he don’t and move on. She’s always had her own job and he told her her money was hers. He covers all the bills. He changed his occupation to better be able to provide for her and her kids even though she told him it wasn’t necessary. He has been in the military here in the states for most of their marriage. He’s actually about to retire out. He loves her and her kids immensely and it seems to works for them. In the beginning, I did think he was suspect, but he’s proven him self over the years. Do I think he’s the norm? No.

No maam. They especially use black women for an easy lay 95% of the time. He lived with a brother or something but he had to keep me like a secret or whatever cause i am not Muslim. He would tell me that I couldn't speak mind you he had headphones on. anyways he would text while we on video call via whatsapp. And he would direct me to take my shirt off and clothes off and all this stuff. Telling me that we are married because in bis culture when a couple gets married the bride asks the man to teach her something and cause I asked how to say something in Urdu which was his language that we are married now and I have to obey him. Hi , Asia ! I have just finished watching this story time , and I loved it btw ! It was very entertaining , interesting , comical , and also eye opening ! I have a few things that I would like to point out . The first thing is this: time . I did not like the fact that he was very demanding of your presence ( video calling ) & I do not like the fact that he was “ projecting “ his voice on the first ( and only ) date, given the fact that first impressions matter.
He should have respected the fact that you told him that you were not going to be able to be on the phone with you 24/7 while you were going to be on vacation . I feel as though since this man was new to your life , he should’ve respected that he WILL NOT be a priority so soon . Most non muslim women are infatuated with other ethnic men but Islam has strict rules, yes he can marry Christian and Jewish people of the book however you must know the kids must be born Muslims and must pray and do all the obligations. Yes the wife doesn't have to convert but she must be a virgin and religious. Second he should tell you your future kids must be Muslims too.
