I Slapped My Mother-in-law. My Husband Scolded Me And Told Me That I Am Not Allowed To Do That To His Mother. She And He Are Both Racists.
    --------
A woman shares her emotional and challenging experience with her mother-in-law (MIL) and seeks advice on whether she should apologize to her husband after slapping his mother. The woman, who is of mixed heritage with a Puerto Rican mother and a white father, explains that her three-year-old daughter has darker features, which led her MIL to falsely accuse her of infidelity. Despite being in a seven-year relationship and married for five, the woman has faced ongoing hostility from her MIL, who has always been standoffish and made racist remarks.
The situation escalated when the MIL spread rumors that her granddaughter wasn’t her son's child. After hearing this from her sister-in-law, the woman and her husband decided to confront the MIL. Instead of resolving the issue, the MIL went on a racist rant, accusing the woman of infidelity and making derogatory comments about Latinos. The confrontation peaked when the MIL insulted the woman's mother, leading the woman to slap her.
This prompted her husband to yell at both his mother and his wife. Feeling unsupported, the woman left and stayed at a hotel, questioning her actions and feeling guilty. She wondered if she should apologize to her husband and sought advice from Reddit users.
In an update, the woman shared that she and her husband had a heartfelt conversation about the incident, race, and culture. The husband apologized for not defending her sooner and acknowledged his reluctance to see his mother as a racist. They decided to go to marriage counseling and go no contact (NC) with the MIL unless she made significant changes and apologized. They agreed their daughter should not be exposed to such a toxic environment.
Further updates revealed that the MIL threatened to press charges, but the husband countered by threatening to expose his father's infidelities, leading the MIL to back down. The couple informed the MIL of their NC decision, and she reacted dramatically. The husband remained firm, supported by his sisters, who agreed to help clear up any misinformation spread by the MIL.
The story concludes with the woman expressing gratitude for the support they received and planning to celebrate their decision to go NC with the MIL. They also sought legal advice regarding the MIL’s threats about grandparents' rights. The couple is determined to protect their daughter and ensure she grows up proud of her heritage.

1st story: The moment she insulted your mother the gloves were off.

The second story is legit full of people who purely want to make op a villain. Regardless of how much he tries to reflect on his ignorance and how he was mainly communicating openly about his intentions which weren't objectively bad

A man leaves his mother and father and cleaves to his wife. The mil has to know she can't disrespect and attack her son's marriage freely without him stepping in to defend the wife he's cleaving to

The comments on the second story are kind of unhinged. Is the dude an idiot? Of course he is. But he's not really an asshole, he's just a stupid kid who doesn't understand how sex and relationships work. He understands he made a mistake and he's not gonna make it again now. Being awkward isn't a crime and tbh it is really fucked if the girl is telling everyone about it. Imagine you asked someone out and they said no and immediately started telling everyone that you asked them out and how weird and creepy it was.

Thank you for your comment! It's interesting to see different perspectives on the situation. Do you think the girl had a right to share her experience to warn others, or was it unfair to the guy?

@RedditFamilyTales You know... Gossiping and rumor spreading can really fuck up a person's mental health, Espically someone whose not a full grown adult.
The girl and OP were both in the wrong...
The OP was being too forward.
And the girl should NOT have spread the word... Espically in a college setting, As I said, Rumors can really fuck up a person's mental health.
If the OP committed suicide whose fault would it be?
No human gains maturity until 30.
Just some grey areas, both parties are terrible.
The comments are the real ones in the wrong though

Last guy was weird asking the girl that question. He just comes out as someone who wants s€x and nothing more. Glad he’s trying to learn from it. But I do agree it should have been kept between them.

@AidenSmith-li1pi Dunno, That's what the OP believes. You won't EVER catch me doing what he did. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Maybe he just thought he could get into a romantic relationship without it being romantic (If that makes sense)
But honestly, You're kinda right tho, Why do all of that when he could've just asked her out.
She was even close friends with him, He HAD a chance to ACTUALLY date her.
      Bro just fumbled 😭😭😭😭😭😭

God, am, I glad I'm married. You said no to the guy. You don't need to be spreading it on to the rest of the people and s*** I'm not supporting what the guy did to make it clear. What I will say is you said no. Why are you passing it on to everybody else?

Is this OP in Fort Wayne, IN? The Costco and Texas Roadhouse references make me wonder. Yes, they are both in mutual cities across the country. But the racist MIL is a pretty good indicator as well. Otherwise, a similarly laid-out city in Ohio come to mind...Ohio is the sister State to Puerto Rico. (Yeah, there is a SMI from PR living in OH, trying to claim that she is SOOOO unique in the area. I called her out for it).
