I like his perspective on his role in a show. He's clear about his job, which I assume makes him easy for writers and directors to work with. There's humility in how he talks about this. Absolute opposite was William Hurt in an interview on NPR, when (among many other unintentionally funny things) he said, "I don't play a part. I release it."
This is a good example of why people shouldn't give all the credit to actors for the roles they play. Its mostly the writers. The actors just read the words as best they can.
