@@learnfinnishwithfinkingcap minua kiinnostavat ihan erillaiset aiheet. Pidin tästä videosta, koska siinä käsittelet teeman omasta näkökylmästä ja se kävi tosi mielenkiintoista. Ja toki kiitos puhekielestä! :)

No tää on tosi syvää aihe, kiitos ajatuksista ja sanastosta😊🤗
Joo, elämäntapa muuttuu aina ja aikuisille aina tuli mieleen että aiemmin oli paljon parempi. Yritän ajatella ettei se ollu parempi tai huonompi vaan erilaista oli.
Mutta välitän kuitenkaan että kännykät ja semmosia laitteita ovat pahoja monesta tavoista 😬

Totta - ennen ei välttämättä ollut kaikki paremmin, oli vain erilaista. Me itse tietenkin olemme vastuussa siitä, miten käytämme teknologiaa. 🧐 Kiitos kommentistasi!

    Hi,
I got a question about "siinä sattoi tulla vähän tylsää" in 3:28, should it be "siitä sattoi tulla vähän tylsää"? Since in sentences with "Tulla" where the subjects changes should it be in the elatiivi (stA)? is it a puhekieli constructions to use "siinä" instead?
And by the way, these videos are quite good! There is not a lot of content for intermediate finnish learners using Comprehensible Input out there, thanks.

Moi, thanks so much for your question! As I was publishing this, I thought "someone is going to ask me this question" so I'm glad you did!
Your suggestion "Siitä saattoi tulla vähän tylsää" is definitely grammaticallly correct and would fit in this context nicely. However, "siinä" is slightly different, and I would probably translate it as "in that situation", "then" or "in that kind of a moment". I could add a personal pronoun to it, like "Meille saattoi siinä tulla vähän tylsää", which means "We might have gotten a little bored in that situation/then". A bit of a clumsy translation but hopefully it conveys the meaning.
Another example of a similar sentence with "siinä tulee" (but different context) would be:
--> En halua pelata jalkapalloa. Siinä tulee hiki. = I don't want to play football. It makes you/one sweaty.

Thanks for the clarification, it helps a lot :)
If I understand well, "siinä" is when the context or situation gets in a certain way that affects you. While "siitä" is for when the specific subject of the sentence changes. If i say for example "en halua pelata jalkapalloa. Siitä tulee hiki" would be more like football itself becomes a sweaty thing and not necessarily the ones playing it (but since they are running they will likely get sweaty anyway). Would that way of seeing it be correct?
Sorry for being so specific but it is easy to get lost in translation in finnish :)

Actually, I think this could help you: we can forget about the "jostakin tulee jotakin" in all of this. Yes, I could see myself saying "Siinä tulee hiki" or "Siitä tulee hiki", but it doesn't have much to do with the "something becomes something". This tulla hiki, tulla tylsää, tulla ikävä etc. is a different construction entirely that has to do with "someone starting to feel something". For example: "Minulle tuli hiki jalkapallossa" = I got sweaty at the football game / playing football. Here, at the football game / jalkapallossa can be replaced with siinä.
If I wanted to say that football became boring, I'd say "JalkapalloSTA tuli tylsää". See the difference in the role of jalkapallo is in each sentence?

And when it comes to how it's said in the podcast ("siinä saattoi tulla vähän tylsää"), I've left out "meille". It could be "MEILLE saattoi tulla siinä (tilanteessa) vähän tylsää" if I wanted to specify it, but meille is not necessary at all. :)

Thanks a lot! Amazing now I get it :) "Siinä -lle .... tulla..." (during/in the thing it gets/comes....) ja "siitä tulee ..."(it becomes...) are different constructions but they can mean kind of similar things sometimes. The lack "meille" in the sentence got me confused initially. Thanks a again :)
