I love watching your videos. brings back memories riding with my dad back in the 80s as a kid in his 362. I took my last trip in the truck in 1991 after he died. before my mom sold it, I drove it from Oregon to California to my uncles house. I was 18 and no cdl. I miss my dad and his Peterbilt 362
I am glad you have those memories. Dave
I am very sad for the loss of your dad !
Me too. I was driving then, k100
Great scenery, great camera work, the last couple of videos on this trip thru the fog have been great. Its why i watch Orwells travels.
Man the cabover was my childhood, and I became a trucker too. I'm the last of a long line of truckers. They're all gone now, but you remind me of all of em. Thanks for the ride down memory lane
as i said unless you where there it means nothing to noone but you and me
THE GUY GAVE YOU THE LIGHTS, I LOVE TO SEE THAT, IT TAKES ME BACK WHEN I ENJOYED TRUCKING.
nobody knows that signal anymore
here in sweden and in the EU in general a passed truck gives a flash with high beams to the overtaking truck when its safe to get back in lane. very common here..
@@tomwolf2603 it used to be here too. but not any more for some reason
Steve what a beautiful views and video thanks for sharing thanks always enjoying watching your videos blessings to you family
The D.O.T. just wanted to tell you he was a subscriber and give you a personal "Thumbs Up"!! Be safe.
be funny if true.
Iwas a trucker for 30yrs and this video brings much memories thank you and God bless you from the Puerto Rican kid 🙏
I drove a 362 in 1992 working at a garden supply company in Visalia,CA. It was one of many different trucks I drove there.
You definitely know how to drive in the bigger mountains. Drive anywhere. After 38 years of driving one thing I can feel AND its making me laugh a little is that feeling of keeping yourself "" back"". I would get kinda itchy wanting to go faster even though I knew better! I enjoy riding along and looking through that big windshield. Be safer than you think and God bless you.
Even though we have many mountains and valleys where I live in Norway, it is fun to see a bit of the landscape you have in the USA. Amazingly good filming Steve!
My grandmother was Finnish. The scenery there is so beautiful, much like Norway.
My wife and I watch many of the videos of Railcowgirl, a railroad engineer.
First tractor I ever drove in 1966 was a Kenworth cab over. Always liked the Kenworth and Peterbilt cabovers.
Enjoyed the video
👍👍👍👍
Years ago I was driving a new company truck, and the colorado scales kept brining me in only to green light me across the scale. One day I stopped for some reason, and I asked them why they flag me in even if I'm empty. They told me my vin number wasn't displayed on the side of the cab and they need to have me close to get the info. Next time through the shop I had them put the vin number and colorado no long bothered me.
Boy...you made us wait right till the end for that one! Beautiful drive though....I like to pull my map out and follow along your route with you when you post it.
Thanks for the ride along Steve this was nice seeing this again it was my old route I used to go this way all the time yep retired driver for almost 10 years.
One of your best, thanks for the drive. 🇦🇺
Thank you Steve for the badass veiws of the Colorado and Utah mountains
When i was in my teen years, we had two Crown Victoria Country Squires station wagons. One was a 1983 model and the other was a 1988 model. Both were set up with the heavy duty tow package. Great cars! One of them ended up doing its last run in a demo derby and the 1988 one i think is still going. 😊
Real good production value here. Can tell you're really leaning into it
Hey Steve. It's never a good thing to be brought around back. But on the bright side, they do help you find a problem. Now did you hand him a grease gun while he was down there anyway, to grease the brakes and the driveline? 😂. No seriously great show. You know most of the time the back highways are way more scenic than the freeway.
Utah never gets boring... so much to see no matter where you are.
Steve first time seeing your vids.Awesome memories for me as well.went from northeast to Cali 3 times .Also once to Williston oil fields then from there to gas wells West Virginia. Trucking is a real great way to see the USA .Glad I went as a ride along. Learned a lot. My driver was my landlord and I lived and took care of his property and home while he was on the road his appreciation for my work were the trips. Just so memorable. We went in a Pete with the condo on her back. All the bells and whistles u could add.800 horse cat no load to big. I believe it was a 95 I helped with everything loads fuel safety checks wash mirrors and windows and most importantly .The mileage state to state . He was fun to ride along with . Vietnam vet . He hauled the artillery to the front lines He was their target. I could tell he was happy doing what he loved.Driving the big rigs and being an American doing his American duty to be a productive citizen. A great man. For shire. So Steve be safe out there enjoy the ride I know I did and thanks.
As a Brit I really enjoy your videos.
The distances are insane to us.
I used to drive in to CO. and they used to pull me in every time. I asked the scalemaster after about the 50th time why? He said, Well, you need to put the last part of your VIN on the side of your truck where we can see it, that might help you. I did, It helped, a lot.
Thanks for the beautiful scenery. BTW, a cup or two of a good herbal tea ( like a Bigelow blend) will take away that cough. I just learned that in january.
Hey, When it cools down, don't forget the RAW honey. ( You won't be sorry.)
Be safe out there driver!
Thanks for the ride-along thru some beautiful country Steve. - Your videos & editing just keep getting better & better !
Orwell sounding better & better also ! 🤠- You're getting closer & closer to the 100k Subscribers.

Wow! Cabin over. Haven't run one of those since about 81. Drove a cab over frieghtshaker from the midwest to the western states back then. That road back then weren't as truck friendly. Kids started piling up so I got a local job. Good job on the video and thanks for helping me take a trip back in time!
Great video you deserve 100 grand subscribers I am sure you will get there soon.
Watching that cab shimmy and bounce takes me way back, I drove an old Mack and I’ll tell ya, they’ll beat you senseless. Lots of folks have asked me what’s so hard about driving, I said you give her a whirl starting at 4-5am and I promise come 5-6 of the evening you’ll be more than ready to park her down. I respect the work all you truckers do, I’ve been there and a day at the park it ain’t. 😆 oh, and thanks a bunch Steve 🐾✌️🇺🇸
truck sounds good. thanks.port of entry refers to the scale house near state line.in and out of calif. is in and out of forien country.
Watching this video going across soldiers, summit Utah on us6 in the snow brings back good memories of trucking 20 years ago. Keep the videos coming.
I got curious, and since I have the engineering books, did the math. Couldn't find the specs for peterbilt 362 but general measurement for cabover front area would have around 10x10 frontal area or 100 square feet. The formula to determine air resistance is Air resistance = (.0025 x MPH squared x Front Area).... Air resistance is given in lbs, front area in square feet. So your truck going 60 MPH against static air would be .0025 x (60 x 60) x 100 = 900 lbs of air resistance. You can change the speed, say if you go 50 mph, it would 625 lbs of air resistance. Of course if you are driving against the wind, it would be greater, so it's not chiseled in stone metric..
I had one for a few years. It got about 4 mpg. Driving into a 25 mph headwind in NM one day I was getting 2 mpg. They truly are an aerodynamic marvel!
@@tracyobert5811 they are likely best used for local and short distance hauling. I can't see them as being very economical for long distance, if you plan to do cross country it's better to drive the most aerodynamic truck you can find.
Absolutely beautiful footage of the Wasatch Mountains!
THANK YOU!
Blast from the past nice cabover pete, ol detriot powered by the sounds of her, jake that ol girl and watch every head in the area turn to check her out! Love seeing the older rigs coming back ! Brings back alot of memories !
🎶 track? It’s *4th Down* by *Ballpoint* - and yes we are THRILLED to be your trusted provider.

Orwell is a beast.
Real pretty but I don't miss driving in that kind of weather at all!
Quite the mountain pass…by the look of the railway grade I assume Helper, Utah was named because extra locomotive power was added there to climb the pass.
Ogden, Roy my old neighborhood. I see that inversion is alive and well.
Wish I had the technology 20 years ago when I drove, so many interesting things happen on the long boring road of truck driving.
Thanks for sharing
Very well done video Steve. Keep up the good work & stay safe. Dave
I traveled over Soldiers Summit several times . loading in Dallas with stops in Portland & Seattle that was the way to go. take 287 to Amarillo, 40 to Gallop. 666 hwy north in to the 4 corners. go over Soldiers Summit to 15 to Salt Lake,, then up into Idaho & Oregon. yep from Dallas to Portland that is the way to go
Yeah, at the 45-min mark the loaded coal train would be heading east from the mines directly west of Helper, which were once served by the Utah Railroad, now part of Union Pacific.
Thanks, born and raised in Utah, Drove truck for 22 years, retired in Buckeye Az. Goog to see utah again.
Beautiful mountain views Steve. Be safe out there.
I had a couple of those old Caprices. You could put a 4x8 sheet of plywood in the back. I called the Wonder Wagons because you always wondered if it would start.
the scenery is so beautiful, I don't know how much work I'd get done! thanks 4 the video!
Interesting to see the USA through your windscreen, nice work thankyou 😊
*Thanks for continuing updates 👍🏻 I'd rather trade the stock market as it's more profitable 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻was owning a loan of $47,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery (Oscar), Now I'm no longer in debt after lI invested $8,000 and got my payout of $120,500 every months,God bless Angela Christine Derle* 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸..
Hello , I am very interested. As you know, there are tons of investments out there and without solid knowledge, I can't decide what is best. Can you explain further how you invest and earn?
Same, I operate a wide- range of Investments with help from My Financial Adviser. My advice is to get a professional who will help you, plan and enhance your management skills. For the record, working with Angela Christine Derle, has been an amazing experience.
Hello how do you make such monthly?? I'm a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down 🤦♀️of myself because of low finance but I still
believe in God
Wow that's nice She makes you that much!! Thanks 🙏 I will try to reach her services, I work 3 jobs and trying to pay off my debts for a while now!!Thanks for the help .
A lot of good news about her even on the news today and so many recommendations on RUclips. She must be a great person, I’m willing to work with her
I have never been out that way and I may never get there. I liked seeing the countryside. Great video. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for the ride today. Enjoyed it!
GREAT SHOW keep up the great work ,love your truck
Love it , had my cab over in the 70,s.
Great video Steve and very awesome views!
Beautiful shots of the mountains in Salt Lake City Awesome camera work keep them coming
That scale pulls in anyone that does not travel that direction frequently. paperwork driver check and OFF YOU GO!!
I think Colorado and Wisconsin are the 2 most beautiful states.
Beautiful shots of my home state.
I’ve been really grinding away at getting my ‘85 cabover on the road lately. Lots of little things to fix and get ready for inspection. You & Orwell have been a good inspiration👍
Keep up the good work. I really appreciate your time and effort to take us along for the ride.
been thru there once when i worked for heartland to take a load to grand junction and then got to deadhead to cheyenne wyoming to pick up a lowes load
At 44:44 on a day just like this I got to test my front bumper on a Cadillac. Two of them full of Japanese tourist stopped side by side on the road. Many years ago I drove that highway several times a week, thanks for the memories.
Love them old Peterbilts big cats 6x5 trans the good old days I sure miss them trucking was fun back then
All I ever drove were cabovers. But I ended my trucking career about 40 years ago!
Back in the70s I ran a Dodge 1000 COE two axel with 318 Detroit a 4 and a 4 no sleeper. Pulled 27 FT high cube trailers. Ran California / Nevada/ Oregon/ Idaho/Arizona and New Mexico.
1989 to 1991 drove cabover Petes. Smooth video. Never drove one with good shocks for that company. Like riding a Pogo stick on the zipper.
Love the videos!!!!30 years driving, had to stop to use phone etc!!!no GPS!! ALWAYS BOUGHT new McNally truck issue😅😅😅😅😅 old days!! Now days it's hard no one uses cb anymore!!
Blessings my fellow truck driver!!
Love the ride Thanks
I had a 95 Caprice Wagon with the LT1 I put flowmasters and Impala SS wheels and a tint on it. Loved that car but the frame started rotting at 150,000 miles of Cleveland, weather.
Reminds me of the country side used to see when I worked western states for my old company.
Great content Steve, great views also!
That is beautiful country! I would love to see it in person some day!!!
@9:37 - know exactly how you feel - luckily you're out west and there is some room - I use to live in MT and have driven that area many times. I now live on the east coast and been doing day work hauling end dumps in and around the Boston area - since traffic is so much more congested they cut in even closer - I "politely" call them Dipstick Drivers and have posted numerous videos of their lack of driving skills. Love that COE - be safe and keep posting the videos - they bring back good memories
Yes pie did shut down and there is a new PIECE started up last I knew it still going on the west coast
Good evening Steve
Used to travel that area back and forth from Salt Lake to Albuquerque,NM.
Thanks for the ride. I enjoyed it; and subscribed
Been over this grade many times in both directions. Texas to Salty and back to Texas. Last time I came over this hill two years ago they were still working on the new chicken coop on the NB at Helper.
i RAN THAT ROAD FOR 35 YEARS IN A TRUCK. DOESNT LOOK LIKE IT CHANGED VERY MUCH. LOVED THEM PETE CABOVERS.
Nothing worse than having to go inside the scale with your paperwork.
Yup, those jitters are the worst !
Thanks for the rembers went threw salt lake City many times just like your doing right there even the cabin over set of doubles Americans express out of great falls mt the rembers from back in the day 😅
What you need to find is a 1977 Dodge wagon like we had for the State. Talk about a land barge. Under the hood was either a 360 or a 440 depending on which one you ended up with that day. The 360 equipped one was easier to drive as the one with the 440 had full time power steering which meant you had to steer it full time. It was easier to drive the 69 Dodge 5ton than that wagon. Finally gave up my CDL 3 years ago with no tickets or at fault accidents after having that sort of license for 40+ years. Enjoyed the video.
Maybe you were the random check they need to meet a quota. Perhaps they just wanted to check out Orwell as not many COE's around., see if had tire chains, or figure old truck - possible problems.
Thanks for the ride. I haven’t been there for a few years.
Yep, late 70's for me.😅
Anytime out in the west for semi's chains are required to be carried from September 15th to April 15th. Used to run for a company out of Albuquerque,NM.
My old stumping grounds with C.R ENGLAND 😅!!LOVE THE STACKS PUTTING BLACK SMOKE 😮...I STARTED WITH A FREIGHTLINER CABOVER 93 I BELIEVE
It get pretty sketchy on soldier sometimes. I'm glad you had clear roads. Be safe out there. DOT want your money!!
Took them long enough to tell you to go inside
That's the worst feeling when you're waiting for the green light, and they pull you around back.
Dang I’m I. The 4 corners area. Honk as you fly past 😂
Sounds good 😊
U and tim gentry got to be the best truckers in the world😂
Like the cab over. Nice camera work.
Truck sounds nice
Steve is heading into the BOMB CYCLONE! lol -Cheers!
"We're all gonna die"
The pot like that's in the lens you got like the pot like back up in your turn signal 😅
A real truck driver never plays his am\fm while the truck is moving or rather I never have been driving 44 years never a wreak or a mechanical problem that i didn't catch before it was to late
Salt lake city look so small compare to the mountains, looks like a small town city. 41:00 got to love everyone trying to do the mad dash to the front to get ahead of the truck or ahead of the line. XD
First time seeing one of those weight station with the viewable sign to see your weights.
that wall you were asking about was just a retaining wall to keep rocks off the road
Like your video had to retire due to heart attack 16 months ago i had 89 peterbilt my 2 boys loved it they got mad when i sold it few years ago to trucking friend his went down wished there were more cab overs out there and big ol hoods
Love seeing that engine blowing little bit of power out of the stacks
