I love watching your videos. brings back memories riding with my dad back in the 80s as a kid in his 362. I took my last trip in the truck in 1991 after he died. before my mom sold it, I drove it from Oregon to California to my uncles house. I was 18 and no cdl. I miss my dad and his Peterbilt 362

Watching that cab shimmy and bounce takes me way back, I drove an old Mack and I’ll tell ya, they’ll beat you senseless. Lots of folks have asked me what’s so hard about driving, I said you give her a whirl starting at 4-5am and I promise come 5-6 of the evening you’ll be more than ready to park her down. I respect the work all you truckers do, I’ve been there and a day at the park it ain’t. 😆 oh, and thanks a bunch Steve 🐾✌️🇺🇸

I used to drive in to CO. and they used to pull me in every time. I asked the scalemaster after about the 50th time why? He said, Well, you need to put the last part of your VIN on the side of your truck where we can see it, that might help you. I did, It helped, a lot.

Years ago I was driving a new company truck, and the colorado scales kept brining me in only to green light me across the scale. One day I stopped for some reason, and I asked them why they flag me in even if I'm empty. They told me my vin number wasn't displayed on the side of the cab and they need to have me close to get the info. Next time through the shop I had them put the vin number and colorado no long bothered me.

Great cars! One of them ended up doing its last run in a demo derby and the 1988 one i think is still going. 😊

You definitely know how to drive in the bigger mountains. Drive anywhere. After 38 years of driving one thing I can feel AND its making me laugh a little is that feeling of keeping yourself "" back"". I would get kinda itchy wanting to go faster even though I knew better! I enjoy riding along and looking through that big windshield. Be safer than you think and God bless you.

That weigh station was my nemesis . Guy jumped under the truck and wiped every brake line clean until he found a little chaffed line. Out of service. Always inspected paperwork at a minimum. Being that theres a couplec10,000 foot passes ahead the brake line was a fair catch but I'd never seen such an aggressive move getting under the truck.

I got curious, and since I have the engineering books, did the math. Couldn't find the specs for peterbilt 362 but general measurement for cabover front area would have around 10x10 frontal area or 100 square feet. The formula to determine air resistance is Air resistance = (.0025 x MPH squared x Front Area).... Air resistance is given in lbs, front area in square feet. So your truck going 60 MPH against static air would be .0025 x (60 x 60) x 100 = 900 lbs of air resistance. You can change the speed, say if you go 50 mph, it would 625 lbs of air resistance. Of course if you are driving against the wind, it would be greater, so it's not chiseled in stone metric..

    • @catfeline1530
      @catfeline1530 3 месяца назад

@@tracyobert5811 they are likely best used for local and short distance hauling. I can't see them as being very economical for long distance, if you plan to do cross country it's better to drive the most aerodynamic truck you can find.

Trucking is a real great way to see the USA .Glad I went as a ride along. Learned a lot. My driver was my landlord and I lived and took care of his property and home while he was on the road his appreciation for my work were the trips. Just so memorable. We went in a Pete with the condo on her back. All the bells and whistles u could add.800 horse cat no load to big. I believe it was a 95 I helped with everything loads fuel safety checks wash mirrors and windows and most importantly .The mileage state to state . He was fun to ride along with . Vietnam vet . He hauled the artillery to the front lines He was their target. I could tell he was happy doing what he loved.Driving the big rigs and being an American doing his American duty to be a productive citizen. A great man. For shire. First time I checked you out. Learned how to drive a big truck, in 1963 at age twelve to thirteen, in southern California, yep unbelievable, but worked with owners of a highway fruit stand, with ranch, and other farming lands they owned so my first experience we were hauling watermelons in the summer, the old man knew I was interested and allowed me to drive in the fields, after education, they were all two stick shifters then. So at sixteen, I rode with the owner's son to Texas, and a lot of watermelon farms. in a 1962 Kenworth conventional. And did this, and received my first cdl learner's permit, and license at eighteen. And guess what ruined that? I was drafted, but to avoid Vietnam I enlisted in the Marine Corps, ended up with four years and still shipped to Viet Nam. Hahaha was tricked. Things changed in my four years away, so fast forward to 1973 couldn't get a job, so took an over-the-road, and from then until 2019 I was on the road driving hauling everything from bull racks, tankers, reefers, and plenty of flatbeds and permit loads. I loved flatbed because I accepted all deeds as exercise, tarping strapping, chaining, etc. But my 46 years on the road was back and forth reefer, flatbed. I did everything but never had parking lot experience. The only thing left out in my history. I been tuning into trucking videos, and this video caught my attention. I like your Peterbilt cabover, in 1975 I got my Marine Corps bro a job because he worked transportation in the corps, but I was in the sleeper with a load of grapes and he flew me off the bridge heading east in downtown Indianapolis, up the I-65/70 ramp split. We both survived but totaled that cabover Pete out. No more, I mean never team-driving for me after that one. I have been off the road since 2019 after hauling reefer had a 2014 Volvo (almost wrote vulva) with lots of room, got lazy just sitting on my large growing ass. I really miss the road, but my wife put her foot down, and I even thought I would divorce her just to hit the road one last time. I have seen the industry change, electric logs, even when the Mississippi states were 73,280 weight limit in the 70's. No more CB talk, reckless as hell, nobody wants to chain up, but the view is always beautiful. Been on your trip highway many times, know that last weigh station well, (been into those I-70 weigh stations a ton of times) and they did the same to me, I think just their boredom and wanting conversation because I was totally legal. I am 74 years old now, I keep a freight shaker in the yard right now, just for personal use, to haul my hay, once in a while haul a trailer house to help a homeless family, I slapped a trailer hitch so I could do that. Sometimes I go out sleep in the truck, take naps in there Sometimes they are looking for me because I snuck away, I hear the grandkids "GRAMPAS IN HIS TRUCK SLEEPING", hahahaha My wife makes them bother me just to make sure I am still alive. Hahahahaha But thank you my friend "Trucking forever, forever trucking".

I’ve driven lots of Cabovers….the worst was an international transtar with spring suspension. Next to worst was a GMC ASTRO with a screening Genny two stroke 15 under. Next to that was a slab faced Hayes, no bunk and 10 speed with deep reduction. Top speed was a little over 70 mph.
Then I got to drive a stretched out cabover Pete with a double bunk and new way air ride suspension. A 5 1/4 cat with a really smooth 13 over transmission.
I hated cabovers until I got behind the wheel on that one. It’s was roomy, smooth riding, nice and quiet and lots of power with 3:31 axels. Cruised easily at 85 mph at 2100 rpm. Really good visibility and absolutely zero chop.
    Sweet Ride.

What you need to find is a 1977 Dodge wagon like we had for the State. Talk about a land barge. Under the hood was either a 360 or a 440 depending on which one you ended up with that day. The 360 equipped one was easier to drive as the one with the 440 had full time power steering which meant you had to steer it full time. It was easier to drive the 69 Dodge 5ton than that wagon. Finally gave up my CDL 3 years ago with no tickets or at fault accidents after having that sort of license for 40+ years. Enjoyed the video.

10:30 You want the bubble Chevy wagons. They are a much better car than the square ones. Wagons didn’t get fuel injection until the bubble ones anyway, 91 thru 96. Plus you can add Impala SS wheels, grill, emblems, seats and chip up the engine

Years ago they called them ports of entry because you had to stop and get your stickers for that state when you bought them for each state you went through. If you remember the days you had a plate that held all your states stickers. Thankfully that all went away😅

US 191 between Helper and Duschene is a hella ride. There’s a primitive road between US 6 and US 191 I forgot the name of it. It’s passable during the summer months, it cuts off the miles between Vernal and Soldier Summit.

Man I hope you get your "stuff" together soon. The out of sequence videos are a product of disorganization. Hopefully when Chris starts you can get back on track. Orwells problems emphasize need to prioritize getting another truck operational. Critical that you establish a plan based on priorities. Channel first if you want it to grow. Get Orville right. Get trailer up to snuff. Get 2nd Rig operational. 2nd driver. Etc.
