Hi Jake I'm sure I spotted a big cat on the A171 on the 7th of this month its was about 06:30 and I was travelling from Scaling Dam to Egton. Might be worth checking that area out.
Very interesting Graham, what type of big cat was it would you say? And roughly where along the road did you see it? I am in the process of finding somewhere to leave my trail camera for an extended period of time over winter and then posting what it captured (hopefully big cat related). I may leave it on the A171 and give you a shout out in my next big cat video 👍🏻. Cheers for the comment Graham.
Hi Jake I'm not a cat expert unfortunately but it was black and had a long tail. I was on my way to the Malton Forest Rally, it was about 06:30 and I was heading towards Egton from Guisborough at first I thought it was a fox but when I got closer and my headlights shone on the animal it was bigger than a fox and the way it leapt onto the verge made me think it was a big cat. I have watched a video on RUclips of someone driving on the A171 and I have two screen grabs to show the area.
@@TheRaceSpace very interesting Graham, it is ok my friend I think I know roughly where you mean. I can’t think of a place in that area that I can safely put up my trail cam. Sounds like u had a big cat sighting though mate 👍🏻
If it helps there was a road sign just before the area I spotted it and the road sign had a turn off to the left for moorsholm, the sighting was actually on the turn off for moorsholm. On the turnoff there was also a advertising board for a hotel or pub something arms
Can't wait to see what you discover....you been down the 'cover up' rabbit hole yet? I have family who farm near Thornton le Dale , not far from Malton. i'll have to ask if they know of any local sightings . I also knew a forest warden who worked in the Wyre forest, they would sometimes find deer carcasses up trees 😕 Have you thought about collecting stories from locals and documenting them? not sure if anyone has done it. Great vid , and all the best with your research .
Thank you very much for your kind comment Twysted Systa. Yes I know Thornton le Dale very well, I have actually documented a sighting near there not too long ago, the video is in my catalog. Yes, I am up to interviewing and collaborating with others in my videos just waiting on people to contact me lol. I have heard that deer carcasses are in trees around golf courses too but I have never seen this myself. I plan to make a full episode researching in Dalby forest which is very close to Thornton le Dale. Thanks again for your kind words and I appreciate your input on my channel 😄. Have a great week.
You mentioned Heartbeat country. I'd say that's a much better shout than my a mainroad. Big cats aren't going to want to mix with people; Heartbeat country is open moorland, with plantations and so few people.
A great episode nonetheless! In my opinion I think you'd be better off going to the place where you say you had 'beginner's luck' in Episode 1, simply because there was so much other wildlife (i.e. prey) there. By the main road, any big cat would just be passing through, like when you saw it. In the first place, it might be in more of a hunting mode.
Thank you very much for your comment my friend and kind words. I did place my trail camera back in that same area many times but never caught anything like that again unfortunately. I will be making more episodes this year trying to find evidence that big cats roam Britain 😊👍🏻.
Not so lucky that time, have patience & look out for other animals too, possible prey items & hunting spots, drinking water & ponds ect, wildlife photography doesn't deliver immediate results.
Thanks for your comment, yes I was very unlucky this episode and I was certain in those areas where I put my trail cam, I would get a few shots; even of another potential big cat. Oh well, I hope in my next episode I will be more lucky 👍🏻👍🏻. Have a great week mate.
I live in the north of the uk i uploaded a video on my youtube channel of a dear carcass i came across on a dog walk, i think a big cat jumped out the bush (ambush) dragged it in the bush and ate it, take a look please tell me what you think
Good documentary, but I think you will lose your trail cam before you see a big cat in those locations as they would be most likely just travelling through and they cover a huge territory, like a 100-mile radius or something. Have you tried bating the area? I heard calling the same night I threw cooked chicken in the garden for the foxes. I would go back to where you saw lots of wildlife activity as they need a food source. You will probably see foxes or domestic dogs, but you never know... The best way I reckon would be to go out at night with night vision and they will find you! Lol, I would not go alone though! Good luck. :)
Cheers for the comment Matt, yes I am always worried someone might take my cam lol. I have thought about bating the area but I don’t want to attract dogs etc and I think a big cat may sense something is not right with bait out. I will put some chicken or something out in my next episode mate 👍🏻. Have a great week 😀.
@@JakeYorkman You don’t need much or to litter the area lol. It’s the smell that attracts them, out of curiosity as much as anything. I had an encounter while out photographing on my own at night and I reckon the smell of urine attracted it. Like marking territory or something. Something to think about if you are going out at night lol. Cheers. 😊
@@MattBlytheTheOne I am going to make a bating video this week Matt, due to you giving me the idea. Do you want me to mention you in the video or would you be offended?
So a _"possible"_ big cat sighting on Episode one and a definite sighting of a cat in this one. Just a shame it's a _domestic_ moggy. _"This is MY woods. No big cats taking over MY territory!"_ Shame about the positioning for this camera. Seems to be pointed too high. However. You need to start to look for animal trails going through woodlands. Even little used paths made by humans. Cats, regardless of size, _WILL_ always use paths like this because they're less likely to be heard by their prey due to the ground being flattened and branches, twigs on trees are less likely to be disturbed by them.
