    I feel like they could possibly find a way to make it work because go karting is one thing I feel like the majority of the community would agree that needs to be a part of iRacing

    I race karts myself, it's also important to note that a LOT of karting comes from the feel, as without suspension, all of the forces go through you the driver and the seat

      I think, if they do intend to start introducing go karts, and different sizes/powers of go karts, that they might then start splitting up the road license between a GT/Production car license and a open wheel license.

    IIRC, and it's a really old forum post I can't find anymore (also don't remember if this was said on an older video of yours) but afaik the suspension model HAS to exist or the sim will crash. Karts don't have a suspension. So even if they made the suspension as HARD as it could be, it would, well, drive like junk
    It's why I think rather than random small system updates and focusing SO hard on the tire model like everyone does, I think we should push iRacing to rebuild the suspension model. It would SUCK i'm sure, but they really do need it for the NDM and other cars to expand outward, imo.
    Eg: Dirt trucks actually properly handling bumps.

    Wow, you really did a lot of digging into the history of this. It's cool to see the old snapshots from that video that was released. I just wish I had downloaded a copy before it was taken down. It didn't dawn on me that it would disappear so quickly after I saw the clip.
    I definitely think they should include go karts in iRacing, but only if they can do it as well as say RF2 or AMS2. If they drive like junk, then there's no point. I love racing karts in sims that do it well. They're the best form of wheel to wheel racing IMHO. I hear people ranting about how they don't simulate weight transfer as drivers move their weight around the kart, but I don't really care; they're still fun even though they don't imitate that aspect of karting.

    F1 Outdoors was one of, if not the best kart track in the country that was kind of a hidden gem. The track itself was meticulously manicured, featuring multiple layouts, a high banked monza corner, and a fountain inside the track. They changed the name to X1 Outdoors in 2018 after the FIA took notice. The problem was. all of the attention went to the track and there was very little infrastructure in terms of pits, garages, buildings, etc. The biggest issue, and what likely drove the demise was the sound ordinance from the town and neighbors. The most strict place I've even been to. (a lot of lawyers in Boston) Everyone had to run extra silencers on 2-cycle engines, and they would do decibel checks as part of tech.
    Overall it was an amazing track, just wish it would of been built somewhere else, and promoted the right way.

    • @aaronthomas6155
      @aaronthomas6155 11 месяцев назад

      It's not that it's too hard.....it's that it's nearly impossible to accurately simulate the physics of a go-kart. There are hundreds of variables to consider. How the driver sits on the go-kart. Whether the driver leans in corners or not. The chassis design. The chassis flex points. The chassis flex rate. Chassis weight. Weight placement on the chassis. Tire size. Rim size. Tire brand. Tire compound. Tire pressure. Tire position. Engine class. Track surface type. Track configuration. Weather. A/F mixture. Various gearing combinations. Different exhaust pipes. Different exhaust pipe lengths. Chassis adjustability. Karting series even has to be taken into account.

    I karted competitively for years in the UK (Rotax) I don't think sims are made for karting driving style. It's a lot of bumper to bumper stuff, incredibly close quarters racing and I just don't think it'd work with how sensitive/powerful go karts are. It'd be cool, but I don't think the racing would be good at all. Perhaps lower CC karts would work, such as your typical go kart you'd drive at a work event or with family

    I my personal opinion as a real karting driver, the current batch of Kart Sims is not great, I have tried them all, and they all have issues! I would not mind paying like 20$-40$ just for one kart, if it was up to the current Iracing standards. It would provide perfect practice for karting outside of the track, saving expenses...would love to see them implement a kart in the furture!

    • @aaronthomas6155
      @aaronthomas6155 11 месяцев назад

      Given all the different chassis designs on the market for kart racing, it would be a far cry from providing the "perfect practice"..... Every chassis design has it's own unique characteristics. If you're stuck with a Rotax DD2 in iRacing, it's going to be completely useless for someone that runs, say, a Phantom ReCon or Ultramax Rival. It would even be useless for someone running something like the Coyote Free Roller.

    • @heymansmotorsports
      @heymansmotorsports 11 месяцев назад

      I meant chassis wise, as they are pretty similar. But just getting practice with the race line and feel of the tires, or anything. It saves tires for when you actually have to race. and yeah, if you normally race something that noone has every heard of, it is tougher to practice, but if they just had something like an X30 kart, it would be a great help, even if the engine is different the feel of the chassis throughout different engines is similar, not the same, but anything karting wise at iracing standards is much better than everything else, cause you can't really fell much.@@aaronthomas6155

  • @Mikelaw709

    Its time to bring it back. They would kill it in Karting. No one has been able to create good experience in Multiplayer and karting. KRP is fun but organizing an MP session is nearly impossible. Kart Kraft, has lost its way integrating Sierra karts instead of digging into the work of actual asphalt sprint race karting. And Rfactors offering is light at best. Iracing could open up an entirely new customer base with a kart offering. AS this video said, and I agree, Karting is the most prolific motorsport there is. Seems like a no brainer to give this a second shot.

    • @aaronthomas6155
      @aaronthomas6155 11 месяцев назад

      With dozens of different chassis types and designs and the unique characteristics of each, as well as all the variables to consider, it's a monumental task to get a go-kart racing sim even remotely accurate. You also have to figure out who you're going to alienate. If you follow KartKraft's lead, you're going to alienate most US go-kart racers since Rotax isn't nearly as common in the US as it is in the UK. Sure, it'd be fun, but sprint kart drivers in the US would see zero benefit from it. If you add US sprint karts, you'd alienate Rotax racers in the UK....who would see zero benefit from it. To do go-karts properly, you'd have to devote hundreds of thousands of man hours to collecting tens of thousands of data points to cover every possible variable for every chassis type.

    I sooo wish iRacing would come up with proper kart racing category, with real chassis flex, set ups, and everything.
    I drive rental 4 stroke AND Rotax 2 stroke racing karts - and tried most of the mods and games available - and pretty much all of them are complete garbage.
    The closest I managed to get is the FIA F4 on iRacing - which is very similar in feel to the 2-stroke karts dynamics from handling perspective.
    It's funny to think - how much info goes into developing a proper kart-racing-sim. many things are very different from conventional cars (also the possible setups available for pro kart racing).
