hahaha I just got through beginner (still drooling a bit on the last triplets) for the first time after practicing every day for almost a month. Tried this one and it's a ways off XD but hey a few weeks ago getting those triplets seemed impossible so practice makes progress!
6 months in and I’m almost up to it! Swiss triplets still lose me for a couple of bars. This has been a great inspiration and a solid goal for me, cheers!
Fun tip. If this becomes too difficult around the 3/4 minute mark, you can lower the playback speed to .75 and that'll be at 75 bpm, a good middle point between the beginner video(60 bpm) and the intermediate (100 bpm) . Best of luck to everyone
Thanks for this Jared! I've been playing for over 15 years but those Swiss triplets got the best of me... Good luck to those beginners trying to follow along, never give up!
I'd give myself a 7 out of 10. Fine with all exercises except the last one - I can play it fast enough but I lose the plot sometimes. I'll take that as I'm getting back into drumming after a 10 year hiatus due to having kids and my old studio burning down with all my gear in it! Played a bit the other day and felt like my arms were made of lead so this is my solution. Thanks for a great video!
That's really really strange! I can play the last one really well because I'm used to alternating hands but when I try to do #4 with either just my left or my right playing the flam accents, my arm gets really tense and I can't play it! As of now with 3 weeks of snare drumming like 5 days a week 2 hours a day, I would also give myself a 7 out of 10 for this exercise! Definitely possible, and snare drum is quite interesting and different from the marimba that I played last year. Btw, I'm the marimba player in the "PMSS drumline," which we just start this year! I hope I can hang onto snare for next year! Good Luck everyone!
First time I tried at that tempo so I would have to grade my self at about a 2…. Need to go back to beginner and get better at that tempo. But I have to say it's a BLAST playing along with you. Your a great teacher!
I actually just got better from this video, the last 2 exercises were very interesting. I had to go back to the beginner version to understand, I tried it there and now I can do it. I also pushed myself with the advanced version. the last 2 exercises are still a big challenge on this tempo though. thanks a lot for the awesome videos!
ya know what i love about the comment section of these types of posts? no caustic comments....all friendly folks with kind, or helpful, or funny responses, thank you all!
I've been doing this for a while now and have only just started to play along with Jarrod on this video, solid 7-8! It will be a while before i can do the advanced version!
god save Drumeo!! hahahaha You should continue making videos like this. I just play it over and over again. Who doesn't like to practice this way?? It's so boring when I practice alone :(
dude this is so much fun!! i will probably do every morning when i wake up for the rest of my life... or atleast until i get to the advanced video... and beyond
My left hand often betrays me too....im focused primarily on marching percussion right now so when i do my practices and warmups i try to do left hand strength and precision excersices too. there isnt really sheet music for this type of thing so i make up some of my own warmups. hopefully this idea will help you out!! Also try mastering the "16th note grid".
So I can honestly say that I’ve only gotten through this intermediate exercise maybe five or six times but only two or three of those times did I actually get through it better within the times that I have attempted it but I am getting better I still haven’t been in rhythm with you quite yet but I am working on it. It is still a big challenge for me.

Dude... This is the key to learn ANYTHING on drums. Slowing it down is OP, and needs to be nerfed with how good it is. Slow anything down to like 40-60 BPM, understand the sticking and technique at a super basic and rudimentary level. Then speed it up 10 bpm, and repeat. That is how you learn everything on drums.
1st one on all three i am good at but for the last two, I am kinda good for beginner and intermediate. I give myself 5/10. Gotta keep practicing on both.
I’ve been working on these warmups for a while. I can finally get the beginner done on the first try. The intermediate is a challenging up to the Swiss triplet. The Swiss triplet seems impossible right now. Like I’m not physically capable of doing the Swiss triplet at this tempo.
Day 2 of drum practice, beginner one is pretty good. This internediate though for me is a solid 6 out of 10. The last 2 are tough at high speed. I kind of gotten the idea behind the swiss army triplets. Every 6 counts you double up the flam pretty much, everything is the same after. Harder to do than I thought lol
@@tianovski79 Nah man, never give up. Start as slow as you need to start, and you Will get it right. My left hand betrays me. I worked on this little warm-up about 6 months ago for a warm-up. I starting about 60 bpm, and am at 185. Work the left hand. It just becomes muscle memory after some time. I feel the frustration!! Every drummer does. Oh, also, if you feel Any pain, slow down!! If you strain a muscle or tendon, it impedes your progress. Listen to your body!
I thought I was going to have a little bit of difficulty with advanced but only slightly, boy was I wrong! Swiss triplets were easy compared to the flam accent 16th notes. I have to say I'm at about 8/10 on intermediate because I've been nonstop practicing it! Not all the way there but I'm shooting for advanced speed. BTW if you guys want to practice between beginner and intermediate just put your playback speed at 1.25 on the beginner video. Unless you have a metronome lol
Month ago I would give myself 5... maybe even 4. Now I'm like 9 :D. Just can't get a smooth transition from swiss to flams. Also I use the turnover at the end in #4 to change hands and play the exercise starting with my left. And it is my opinion but I think that the flam accents are pretty harder than swiss triplets while you increasing tempo.
Single doubles and paradiddle was ok to hang on to the tempo, but the last 2 i struggled playing it right by the sheet in this tempo. Need to practice more🙂
@Jamajae Jennings : HQ RealFeel 12'' practice pad. Jared you're amazing, thank you so much for your videos. As for myself, I'll have to (re)start practicing every day before my weak hand can stop burning! (Yes, I do have girly muscles, but hopefully guys experience the same burning sensation.)
So on this time of doing this exercise I actually got through it and it wasn’t until the last part that I started to struggle but I got through it the key for me is teaching my wrist how to relax while I’m doing it because I still feel like I’m pushing the sticks down.
My biggest Problem in drumming is the left hand ! my right hand can do all of this easily and my left hand is a little bit of a problem sometimes but it is getting better as i practice it every day
hey jared I love this exercise and I am using it to warm up for a gig in 1hr! I am just wondering if you have a video to mirror the other side sticking? Also I have a lot more trouble jumping into shuffles for a gig than straight grooves... can you recommend anything to help warm up for triple meter stuff? I am a drumeo edge member too and i love it btw.
Well now that I finally figured out that you’re doing doubles with your left hand from the beginner video I just did the intermediate and actually I would have to grade myself at a high sea or low bee but now that I have the pattern down I can work on it and become a lot better. I’m talking about the Swiss Army triplets by the way. Doing them fast is the hard part.
Lol.Jared talks while he is doing this. I have to use all my concentration just to get the pattern going. This is way too fast for a noob like me. Gonna look for a noob friendly version
Are the swiss army triplets some American thing? I've played drums for about 4 years (3 years in school, Norway) and never heard of them! Or maybe it's just a genre / marching band thing?

Came back to this after practicing the beginner tempo. Feelin good! Grade 8/10

Drummers, stop being stupid! If you can't play a Swiss Triplett at this speed. Slow it down until you have it and build-up tempo!
Good advise, but are you actually a drummer??

I succeded after seeing that comment. I started with 60bpm after than 70-80.. and it’s improving regularly

Nailing it on my snare drum for months! Practise up everyone!

Eric Benjamin I have to do the Swiss triplet with opposite side flams and it made it physically possible.
I'm intermediate on my pillow, having a real hard time with the swiss triplets
Haha
The Swiss triplets is where I’m at on my pads. Killing me

.thank you jarek...
greetings from Colombia

bro the difficulty spike halfway through is wild
I use this warm up all the time
excelentes ejercicios, la práctica es todo
0:53 start
Feel real confident in the beginner bat way off on this, a beginner-intermediate tempo half way would be perfect to get up to this speed
it is very important to start with warm up 1 so u can do the last 2 correctly. But being able to read music pays off
I'm curious on holding the sticks. Is there a certain way to hold or whatever is comfortable?
whatever is comfortable
I will give my self 8 out of 10. I'm terrible at the last 2 exercises.
good lesson for all. thanks!
Doubles are harder then it looks I’m just now getting into learning wow .. thanks I’ll keep practicing.. comment later when I get it
I will just excuse myself and stay in beginner for the foreseeable future 🤣 good to have an idea of where to aim for though 🙏
I got smoked on the advanced.. I’m coming clean with ya’ll. 😂🤟excellent training.
