You are a Viking Ambassador? Well done, Viking. Finally, someone I can relate to, who considers cost, who watches what other people do on RUclips, who learns and shares, and gives credit when an idea is not original, but very useful, and thank you for that. I hope you do lots more videos. I subscribed.
Just a little advice. On the Husqvarna machine, there should be a "FIX" button, which allows you to affix the fabric to the tearaway. This ensures that the material does not shift position whilst being embroidered. Once you've found the center of where you want to place the design, push the FIX button and start.
Beautiful, I bought that design also, but haven't stitched it out yet. A little advice, in between thread changes, cut your jump stitches. If you don't they will get covered by other stitches, but not completely and can show through. Ask me how I know, lol
If you embroider on fabric that has a nap, like towels or fleece, use a topper stabilizer that is "wash away". You will still use a stabilizer on the bottom of the fabric, but the wash away stabilizer on top will prevent the nap of the fabric from sticking up through your design and "distorting" the image. Once your stitching is done, simply wash the fabric or run it under water in the sink and it will simply disappear, leaving your embroidery design looking great. To "float" stabilizer on top of fabric (which means you don't hoop the stabilizer, you just lay it on top of your fabric) I've seen people use sewing pins at the corners and pin the stabilizer down to the fabric. Obviously, you would place those pins well out of the way of your stitching area. I've been told the best designs on knit t-shirts are less densely stitched designs. Those embroidery designs are ones that are similar to your elephant design, as it had areas that aren't filled with the satin stitching, like the flamingos. The flamingos are of a more densely stitched design, which is more suitable for woven fabrics. That's not to say you can't use a dense design on a t-shirt, you just have to have the right amount of stabilizer to support that design on stretchy fabric. Stabilizer is a key component in machine embroidery in order to have a design stitch out properly and not become distorted. You're off to a fantastic start!!
Don’t be afraid to stitch out the unicorn again, it looks as though your hoop bumped it to something. I have had that happen to me. The egg carton thing looks interesting. I am going to try it. Congratulations on being a Viking ambassador, with your enthusiasm you will be a good one.
I love Urban Threads. I'll have to purchase that elephant. It's beautiful. One suggesstion. When choosing your stabilizer use a cutaway stabilizer for clothing. It helps the stitches stand up better to laundering. Tear away eventually will fall apart causing the stitching in the design to collapse. For knit fabrics there is polymesh stabilizer.
Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestion! I actually have some cutaway so I'll be sure to use it for my next clothing project!!! Thanks again!
One other thing I love about an embroidery machine. You can add small touches. I’ve added tiny motifs under a collar and inside on a facing just to make me smile.
Hey Brittany: There can be several reasons why the unicorn design did that-firstly-I would do another test stitch. If the horn, etc...still does that, contact the digitizer-sometimes things are not digitized correctly. Another reason is that the fabric wasn't straight and taut in the hoop. Another reason can be your choice of stabilizer's. Sometimes I have had problems with the stitch outs because of the thread. Those are the first four that I would check. I have bought designs from reliable digitizer's-and occasionally there is a problem. If you think that is the problem after a second stitch out- contact them and give them all the info of: fabric, thread, stabilizer, etc...that was used-and send them photos of the stitch outs. They are more than happy to help you! :+) I hope this helps. I have been embroidering for 20 years, and also own a Viking.
Love the elephant. Always check you have the right embroidery needle as you would with sewing. Your fabric needs to be “drum” tight when you frame it. Sometimes it helps to attach your fabric to the interfacing with a little 505 spray. What a fantastic machine. I have a brother and Janome, both a few years old now but still going strong,
I would advise against pulling the fabric too tight, this was advice I was given when I first started to embroider, but it can leave the design looking puckered when you release the tension on the fabric when you take it out of the hoop. The stabiliser can be drum tight as it is non stretch, but the fabric needs to be smooth but not too tight. You appear to be using a jersey fabric, I would suggest using a cut away stabiliser rather than a tear away to stop the design stretching out of shape and threads popping as you wear the garment. An iron on stabiliser might be best. Make sure to enable the trim command, or manually trim the jump stitches in between colours, you appear to be stitching over the jump threads which will be very difficult to remove at the end of the stitch out. I love Embroidery Library designs but they can be very dense, verging on ‘bullet proof’ for some of their older designs. I always open them up in software and check the density before attempting to stitch them out. It is easy to reduce the density, in the Premier Plus embroidery software.
You’re doing great! I taught myself to machine embroider 6 years ago. Back then, there weren’t any You Tube videos or FB groups for this! I have thousands of designs and lots of Urban Thread designs! My favorite! I own the Baby Lock Spirit. Please, feel free to ask any questions. For this elephant, try slowing down your stitching. I agree, I use Pellon tear-away for vinyl, burlap, denim, etc. I use Pellon cutaway for most things! Be sure your stabilizer and fabric is tight! Have fun!
Brittany. Thanks so much for showing the embroidery portion of the machine. I have a sewing/embroidery machine and it terrifies me. I have everything I need just need to try it. Thanks again for the motivation
Corey Fisher is correct with her suggestion of trimming the jump threads. It's easy to do between color changes. The egg carton idea is something I wish I knew about years ago when I was doing more embroidery. I found that some of the FSL designs have so many stitches they need to have the density decreased. Get in touch with Embroidery Library, they may have some helpful suggestions. Something I did when I purchased new designs is stitch them out on muslin. I then put the finished product in plastic sleeves in a notebook. That way I knew exactly what it really looks like, what size it was and could preview it on a garment.
Hey Brittany I just saw on a Bernina embroidery tutorial that if you have a power surge it can cause a hiccup like that. And that sometimes you can turn your machine off and back on and it does good they suggested make sure you have you're machine plugged into a really good surge protector.
Loved seeing this! The designs you did were awesome! Justice is just cute as a button modeling her very special bag! I really liked the position of the elephant-which came out fabulous-on you shirt. I love all your videos. You have such a wonderful personality and your presentations are always clear and well produced. Keep them coming!🙂
Yay for this one🌹🌹Got the newest HV machine but ended up having to move & with the renovations needed my machine has been in storage! Won’t be long before I need to relearn embroidery & I will start here! Thanks
I fell in love with the Epic when you did a video using gold thread and embroidered an elephant, which you put on a denim jacket. I'm making up my mind whether to purchase the Designer Topaz 50, although I've dreaned of owning the Epic since I saw your first video. I presently own 2 Viking machines and love their product line.
Pretty, also make sure that your fabric is taught but not over stretched in the hoop. Sometimes it can cause your design to get out of alignment when the fabric is not secure and flat. Can't wait to see what you stitch next!
Love the idea for putting the threads! I have the Designer 1 USB, an older one but still going strong! There is tons of free designs you can get on line, you have to register your email and you have one for free.... I have thousands by now.... after 10 years! Super nice machine, you are a lucky lady! tFS Christine
I know this is an old video. But I used the cheaper stabilizer. Midway, the image would shift and not embroider right. I got the stuff Viking sells, and it took care of it immediately!
Hi Brittany! Great video! I have the Viking Designer Brilliance 80 and a lot of the designs that are on the Epic are on mine! Love that elephant! I need to start embroidering, but like a lot of people, I'm afraid to get going! I don't know why, you make it look very easy! Thank you! Love and many blessings😊❤👍
Oh dear! I just visited my Viking store this past weekend and they told me about this machine. I insisted I DID NOT NEED this as I am just learning to sew. Now here you come showing me how great it is. And with an elephant design, too! One of my sons LOVES elephants. I’ll watch you learn and embroider and see if that satisfies me. (My bank account hopes so!)
Brittany, congrats for your new embroidery machine. I tell you what happened to your little pony design. The embroidery arm was hit by accident while the machine was embroidering. Also make sure the machine is far enough from the wall, if you are using larger hoops, and embroidering on the bottom of the hoop the top of the hoop will hit the wall, decalibrating the embroidery arm, and messing up the design. Ask me how do I know? I have a Viking Diamond Royal, I learned the lesson on my own.
Your enthusiasm is so wonderful!!! I do not machine embroider myself but I enjoyed this video & would like to see more. Love the elephant & I liked the placement of it at your side rather than the typical spot being directly on the chest. I think it adds interest and was a little surprise! Omg Brittany. You are really inspiring me to want to learn to embroider. Now, I realize that this method relies solely on that fabulous machine. Hhhhhhhmmmm. This may take some negotiating and compromising. LOL.
Hello thank you for sharing!! quick question if I have my own drawing that i would like to transfer on my fabric, how do I do that? can I just transfer a file from my laptop or I need to pass through a website? You just made me fall in love for this machine!!!! Thank you
I think you are inquiring about doing your own digitizing. Am I right? While I am not all that familiar with the Epic, when I purchased my Designer I, my recall is that it came with a digitizing program. After a few years though, it become obsolete and I purchased an more current digitizing program. If you are an artist and can draw beautiful designs, with the programs, you can digitize them yourself. However, there are so many sites online which sell various designs at very reasonable prices, that I decided it was not worth my time to try to digitize my own designs. I found it to be very time consuming.
I have a Designer Ruby Royale and love it. So glad you are branching out with new things. Suggestion would be to get a thread stand. I had problems with thread getting caught and then ruining the design or breaking a needle. With the thread stand I have not had a problem since. I got the 20 thread stand and it helps to organize like your egg carton. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UQTHUTO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Another saying is "If you wear it, don't tear it" Use cutaway for clothing. For some dense designs I layer tear way then a layer of cutaway no show mesh. For doing designs directly on t-shirts I float rather than stretch in the hoop. Make sure to use a ball point needle for t-shirts or anything that is knit such as baby onesie.
hello ! great video thank you. i bought the same machine last month. it's all new to me. so i will be happy to see other videos about your work. can you tell us you experience about a type of needles and down threath that you use? or stabilizator thicker or thinner for whic type of fabric. thank you ! 😊
Hey, thanks for the video. I'm having trouble with the MySewMonitor app - I'm getting phone notifications, but the app itself is not showing the progress or alerting me within the app. Any suggestions?
Great energy! Just to help your screen credit. Em-BR-oidery not Em-BOR-dery...and Li-BR-ary ..not Li-BARY. Nice demo at the end! Love Elephants. Please don't take offense. The main subject of your video is mispronounced...I'll be back when I get my new machine!
Pull it out! I'm having so much fun learning embroidery and finding new ways to create! You'll love it! The pattern I used was McCalls 7630 View B and yes the fabric was 100% cotton.
Love my Epic, bought it when it first came out but haven't used it much as there is no support where I live. I'm not interested in upgrading to the Epic 2 but do you know, being an Ambassador for Husqvarna, will we be able to purchase the ribbon unit attachment to fit onto our Epic 1's?
Call my store in Kansas 1 913 345 1908 ask for Charlie, the manager. He's off on Wednesdays and closed on Sundays. He'll be glad to answer your questions.
Hi Brittany, I'm Marina Barrera, I would like to buy one machine like this, Where do you bought your machine and how much it is, please, I live in York, Pennsylvania, USA. tHANKS
If you use stretchy fabric then float so not to stretch...if you test a design to make sure how it sews then use cotton..so it dosent stretch...floating you will find on you tube
im trying to embroider a Roman numeral 3 but it keeps coming out sloppy, its an image I found on google its not one I bought online for embroidery because cant find a Roman numeral 3 anywhere online for embroidery. any tips I need help! haha
I find that some embroidery designs I download off of various sites might be too dense or even have a glitch or two. Usually if there is a problem it’s I haven’t picked heavy enough fabric for the design cause it is so dense. Some embroidery software will allow you to change density. But for those dollar or two designs why bother.
You are a Viking Ambassador? Well done, Viking. Great video. Thanks for introducing me to Urban Threads. I love the Flamingos on your bag. Where did you find that design?
Yes where?
I am very interested in that elephant design behind you, look so cool
beautiful...enjoyed your videos!
Great video! Congratulations on your Husqvarna Viking ambassadorship. I just tested the Designer Epic at the Sewing and Quilting Expo and loved it.

I love Urban Threads.
Please tell me you are going to add a few rhinestones to your elephant.
Oh my gosh, that is a fantastic idea! I didn't even think about rhinestones!!!
Urban Threads vs R Anton
What’s your thoughts
Danita Gainey Urban Threads is a website where you can purchase embroidery designs.
Robison Anton is a thread company.

I’m a new embroidery novice too. I bought a Baby Lock Spirit
I've been thinking about getting an embroidery machine . I'm glad I saw you video. was the machine expensive? thank you for the tutorial.
I have tried to embroider but I have been getting nesting in the back. What have I forgotten to do, or what went wrong?
Hi Brittany,
Did you use prewound bobbins?
Katrice Farrar hi! No I did my own! I’ve wound a couple in white and I plan to do some in black just to have ready.
What is a good embroidery thread to buy? Is there a good deal on Amazon that I can trust?
Girl you’re going to make me pull out my embroidery machine that I’ve been sitting on. What pattern is your shirt? Is the fabric cotton?
Pull it out! I'm having so much fun learning embroidery and finding new ways to create! You'll love it! The pattern I used was McCalls 7630 View B and yes the fabric was 100% cotton.
to keep jump threads neat, I trim at each color change
Thank you for that tip!
My Husqvarna embroidery machine epic I need to know how to change colors on a design because my machine is not doing that what do I do

Which software will allow me to convert pictures into embroidery files? I don't want them to upload automatically to their sewing network.
Hi Brittany, I'm Marina Barrera, I would like to buy one machine like this, Where do you bought your machine and how much it is, please, I live in York, Pennsylvania, USA. tHANKS
If you use stretchy fabric then float so not to stretch...if you test a design to make sure how it sews then use cotton..so it dosent stretch...floating you will find on you tube
im trying to embroider a Roman numeral 3 but it keeps coming out sloppy, its an image I found on google its not one I bought online for embroidery because cant find a Roman numeral 3 anywhere online for embroidery. any tips I need help! haha
Omg now I have to get an embroidery machine.. ???Are they very expensive ??
I find that some embroidery designs I download off of various sites might be too dense or even have a glitch or two. Usually if there is a problem it’s I haven’t picked heavy enough fabric for the design cause it is so dense. Some embroidery software will allow you to change density. But for those dollar or two designs why bother.
What is the name of that embroidery thread, New ____?
Emboidery libary?
