This is the first large scale operation I've seen show abs in use for years, good for you to share this! I'm sure your US viewers will question this but people don't understand how much more PVC costs in Canada since we don't really use it in house construction - everything is abs. I feel like I've spent more on pvc then tanks, fish or coral. Always one more valve, one more elbow and the fact that 10 feet of pvc these days is $30-35 when it used to be $10-15. I started using 3" sewer pvc for drains for many tanks since it was actually cheaper then 1.5" sch 40pvc. This also allows the tanks plumbing to just drop into the larger drain and be removable vs having everything glued together.
Lol ABS for plumbing is fine as long as you don't have to use/live in the water passing through it. ABS is not a good plastic for carrying water or for using water that has been stored and passed through it. There are multiple problems from shedding of micro plastics to the volatile organic compounds release to the fact it degrades in water, form UV and ozone.... The same reason you should not use the standard white plumbing on your tank.
A lot of the aquarium industry at your level is DIY. Sometimes it may not be pretty but if it works…it works! I like seeing this side of the industry keep up the great work!
I've been Sicce for returns pumps & Tunze for wavemakers for over 18 years. Over those years I've tried many other brands but I always end up going back to those 2.
Hi March, It would be a great comparison if you could use Sicce and Tunze pumps for the returns on the macro tanks, esp. as both come with 5yr warranties... Cheers, Rich.
Abs is stronger then pvc. Only coni know of is contact with sunlight. What we dont want in our aquarium. I dont know the effect of our led units, t5 or hqi. But most pipes are away from that as well
don't forget the fact it realises volatile organic compounds and sheds micro plastics and is not permitted for storing water for consumption or supply and is oxidized by many other compounds like H2O2, so why would you use it to carry water for your aquarium (unless it is a drain to sewage)??
you should at least get in some of the Jebao DMP pumps --- they are a decent alternative to the Ecotech MP series at a fraction of the cost and they would SELL.
Your plumber has no idea what he is talking about, do not use ABS in water for drinking or for animals.... There is a reason why in the majority of western countries the use of ABS is restricted to waste drain water only and is not permitted for Potable water! P.s. Who trusts a high school drop-out plumber on what plastics are safe for aquariums 🤣🤣🤣
@@fragboxcorals Each to their own. Just be aware as a company you likely to be in breach of the building code in your country (certainly in Canada you are), as well as in breach of animal welfare act using products that are stipulated not to be used the way you are using them.... And heads up, despite the plumber recommending and installing, you as the company get the fines, not them.

You sent us a tank at DNA Aquatic last year now and this is by far a nice video to see coming from a store just like yours😂
