For $500 sister got married in dance studio which looked like a beautiful ball room with a chandelier and a foyer. It even had a warming kitchen. It wasn't normally used as a wedding venue and that was why it wasn't expensive. My step mom and the groom's mother catered the turkey dinner. She got 2 bottles of wine for every table and there was beer. I think it was a genius idea to throw a wedding there. The wedding was $5000 for 200 guests.

A caution for people looking into venues like parks and fields, or even private homes- workout how much things like catering, hiring tables, chairs, plates, glasses, lighting, generators etc is going to cost and add it on to the ‘cheap price’ of the venue.
I wanted to do a field wedding but after I worked everything out it was the same price as renting out a nearby winery venue that already included catering and furniture and I didn’t have to go through all the stress of organising all those extras that you need in a blank venue that most venues just include.

I feel like we are forgetting one major inexpensive venue: churches. Some churches require you to be of the same denomination as the church you’re wanting to get married in, but not always. There’s gorgeous glass chapels, churches with stained glass, old rock churches, etc. I personally got married in my own church, so they didn’t charge anything since I was a member (and luckily for me, my church is a pretty one!) If you’re not religious and getting married in a church is a no-go, I totally understand. I just wanted to point out that they’re a beautiful option and adding a bunch of petals to an aisle is always a nice touch :)

I don’t know if anyone has said this yet, but my fiancé and I are doing a cruise wedding! The actual wedding part (ceremony+reception, does not include the actual cruise) is $3,000 and it includes the ceremony and reception venues, hors d’oeuvres (you can choose 6 different types!), drinks, officiant, bride’s bouquet, groom’s boutonniere, DJ, decor, a wedding planner, day-of coordinators, cake, and even an OPEN BAR. And as an added bonus, they let you be as involved as you want in the planning process! Customize it to your heart’s content or leave it to the pros and enjoy the ride, whatever you decide to do!
Unfortunately I have not seen much information on cruise weddings outside of what carnival told us, so if you know anything or are interested, Jamie, I’d love to see a video on these!

Our wedding venue is only costing us $150 for the whole day, it has a prep kitchen, and all the tables and chairs. Plus it's right across the street from my grandmother's house where the bridal party is getting ready. It's like a community center. The only "drawback" is no alcohol of any kind, which we are ok with because I have some alcoholics in my family and we didn't want that to be an issue. Now we can blame it on the venue and no one will be the wiser.

To be honest I looked at a bunch of "Non-traditional" venues and they were all just as expensive as regular venues :( the 'cheap' venues had a lot of restrictions to them, too. We looked at a few national/state parks and while gorgeous and super cheap, they had a lot of issues solved by spending a little more on a traditional venue. Issues with decorations, parking, rentals, etc.
The biggest issue was TIME. Tons of those venues have time constraints for setup tear down. We looked at 3 different state parks in Northern FL, Southern GA that all only gave 4 hours total from start of ceremony to cleaned up and out of the venue after reception. Lots of them don't allow set up of anything until 1-2 hours before ceremony start time.
They are gorgeous and great if you don't want a big budget, but my fiance and I realized at least for us that spending the money on a venue that knows how to handle a wedding was PRICELESS when it came to our peace of mind.

I looked at a bunch of “inexpensive” wedding venues with my husband and found them not to be such a great deal. You really need to look at what is included and what is not included. We fell in love with this one location.. $750 rental fee. Sounds perfect right?! Looking at the fine print, it literally included nothing. Not even the parking lot to the building!! You want to use the parking lot? That’s an extra $500. Table and chairs? An extra $500. After adding it up, we decided to go with another venue that was more expensive at first glance, but included a lot of necessities like an onsite bathroom, ice, tables/chairs, etc.

We had our wedding at the Coronado Community Center, didn't sound the most appealing but hands down gorgeous. Our biggest cost was catering/bartending, then photography, venue fee, videographer, etc. In that order. @@christinadipinto6109 sorry for the late reply, I didn't see it until I responded to your comment on the other video! I used Holly Ireland photography for our wedding and engagement photos. She is a great photographer, but a bit on the pricier side depending on your budget. My recommendation would be to search around and find someone whose photography style you like, whether it be dark and moody or light and airy or somewhere in between, and look through galleries on their website. There's also a San Diego photographer, Cavin Elizabeth, who is my favorite, she does youtube videos as well, but she has written a book called A Bride's Guide to a Picture Perfect wedding, I think it retails for $29.99, and it might be a helpful starting point for helping you choose a photographer? Good luck!

It was VERY DIY (we had to go get all of the reception stuff from my parents' hotel room right after the ceremony, bring it to the reception space, then set up in about 30 mins!), but we kept it super simple and friends were super happy to help out! We had friends pick up the food, ice, and cupcakes and meet us at the space. It ended up working out perfectly for us!

I just got married 2 weeks ago in an old movie theater that had been redone all gold and emerald and it was gorgeous and made the perfect old Hollywood themed setting. My husband and I had gone on one of our first dates there to see Casablanca and we only paid $150 ($160 if you count $10 for popping enough popcorn for all 96 guests). It also was an amazing place fpr photos because of the balcony and our names on the marquee. Plus everyone said they were the most comfortable seats any wedding had.

Yesss! We rented a beautiful lake house on Airbnb for our wedding! For the low price of $150 a night! Yes super cheap 🙌 Beware though, with Airbnb you run the risk of the host CANCELING your event. In the event this should happen to us. Which, *knocks on wood* I hope not 🤞 lol we’ve come up with a backup plan!

Some of the other commenters have mentioned this, but just because it’s on this list don’t assume that’s it’s cheaper compared to more “traditional” venues in your area. Still shop around and make sure you’re comparing the costs and restrictions so it’s apples to apples between venues. Also even if a venue is cheaper you may be getting way more bang for your buck at other venues. Depends on your priorities and what they offer

I’m getting married next April! I work for a big church so I am able to get our community center building for our reception absolutely free. We’ve opted to have our ceremony at a beautiful public park down the road which is also free! I’m SO excited for my wedding day because I can put my money towards entertaining my guests instead of worrying about the places.

I love your videos and I've been watching since the beginning. I grew up in Lakeside and I remember when I was like 8 yrs old my family would go out to Julian for a day-cation. I haven't been back since around 1995, so it was a blast from the past with you bringing it up. ♥️

Hello Jamie. I just want to say thank you so much for all of the amazing videos that you post. My fiancé and I are getting married in two days, but we have been engaged for two years and seven months! I am planning everything myself and was even in the UK for grad school for a year and your videos helped so much with the whole process. It felt more like a team effort when I was alone in my flat searching for floral inspiration photos and listening to all your advice. Your channel became an excuse for "me time" this past year when I would just relax with some hot chocolate at the end of a long day and immerse myself in wedding planning. So thank you again! I am sure I will keep watching your videos even after this Friday.

HELLO BEAUTIFUL. We have about 17 days left until our wedding! I hit the "We should have eloped" phase about 2 weeks ago... But we worked thru it lol anyways, we rented our venue, a beautiful, tree filled, private park in Pa, & it was only $400!!! Tables, chairs, 2 buildings, & a pavilion included... for the whole weekend. U just have to think outside of the box.

Another avenue to explore in the same vein as community centers: Event Halls belonging to fraternal organizations like Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, VFW, etc. these can be hit or miss as sometimes they are on the dingey side but some are beautiful! They tend to be cheap and usually even have a bar & bartender included too.

My boyfriend and I have already discussed what where gonna do. My church has a school that goes with it, (it's not in use anymore but my church still uses it as our family center for bible studies, banquets, etc) And church members get a discount for renting out the gym, or room. I think my parents only spent $300 to rent the gym.

I will be viewing a Peerspace location Saturday for $102 an hour, which is honestly the best deal for a venue that holds 120 people that I have seen in my search. I truly recommend Peerspace. It is going to save me over 4k from the "average venue cost" in Los Angeles.

The most elegant wedding and reception I've ever attended was in an art gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Very few chairs & benches (just for older people), no kids (a stipulation of the gallery), wonderful huge cold appetizer table, wedding cake (made by me, a pastry chef), champagne, soft drinks, water, coffee & tea. It took place in the late afternoon, didn't last overly long, and was really fabulous. Sometimes less is more.

I've followed you for years and appreciate all the advise and ideas you give out! Your uploads on Tuesday evenings spark so much joy for me. I think I've watched most if not all of your videos, but if you ever run out of ideas, can you delve into a restaurant reception? Especially for restaurants that don't regularly host wedding receptions? I'm thinking about a public park wedding then going to a restaurant for dinner/lunch (haven't decided timing yet), but wondering what logistics are involved. Ballpark costs to rent out the restaurant? I assume it's more than just adding up the dishes you want from their menu. I know some of these are probably difficult to answer accurate but I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you again for all that you do!

A great place for a small reception could be a restaurant that the couple loves. We got married on a beautiful public Bridge that was used to access ski hills on the other side but since it was in the summertime they didn't charge us for that space at all. And then we talked to the owners of the pub at that Ski Resort and asked if we could do the reception there. We had to push our reception time back a little bit further than what we would have liked but it made the whole perception incredibly cheap because the pub already had a DJ so for a wedding with 30 guests we paid $1,200 in total

When we started venue hunting I really wanted the whole barn wedding dealio with an outdoor ceremony. Sadly a majority of the ones in our area were out of our price range. So instead of having the whole wedding at a barn we just found one to take our photos at! So it still looks like I had a barn wedding when we really just borrowed one. And my husband was happy because we ended up going with an indoor ceremony and reception that was in our budget. Compromise!

Maybe as not an “inexperience” but definitely as a great unthought of idea a cruise would be a cool place or even looking into the idea of getting the restaurant as a space to do it, half of the infrastructure is already there and if it’s on a time that they don’t normally have much people coming in that will be a win-win situation

What are the pros and cons of an "all inclusive" venue (venue comes with service staff, food, bar, possibly even a space for the ceremony) vs. Going piece meal with a venue and vendors (venue is just the space and all other vendors are arranged by the couple). Thanks in advance!

    • @sadieann1036
      @sadieann1036 4 года назад

Make sure to ask about vendor agreements and limitations. Some that do food will also require the cake from them. So if you have a vendor you really want to use or don't want to do something totally traditional, they might now work with you. They might charge a lot more for the amenities they provide versus average cost in your area. The big pro is it's easier to coordinate with one big vendor than many individual vendors. They probably offer a wedding coordinator as well. Probably handled clean up

This helps solidify what i have already looked into, I am having difficulty deciding on location due to estimated attendance. Our date is set for Halloween, which is the day we originally met. We dont want to budge on it. So it has been an issue with available plumbing at my local parks because they shut the bathrooms and other water sources off by October.

Where we live there's this beautiful Victorian cemetery that's essentially in the middle of a woodland and they have a wooden structure in the middle of it where you can get married. If was magical! A bit different but was definitely able to add a lot of personal touches and make it our own!

On top of it we have day before set up and day after (providing no one else books the Sunday) for tear down. All included in the hire cost.
