I recently bought a 4070 and i am still waiting for it to arrive in the mail. 1070 was a 1440p card back in the day, and in some titles it still is, like overwatch 2. 1070 can easily max out my 1440p 165hz monitor on low settings. I have seen benchmarks where 4070 can get 500fps+ on 1440p low, absolutely insane. Only bad thing is spending a lot of money on a new monitor lol.

    The Pascal cards were definitely pretty solid cards for their time, and still holding up pretty decent now as a result. Honestly, any of them other than the GTX 1050 and GT 1030 seem to have held up pretty well. Heck, people were even getting away with light gaming on 1030s for a short time, which is pretty impressive for a basic display card. Looks like the 1060 unsurprisingly is starting to fall behind. Might be ok for light gaming if you get one cheap enough, but the 1070 and 1080 are clearly coming out ahead for newer titles while the 1060 just struggles. I actually just upgraded from a similar performing card, RX 480 8gb. Still pretty good for some older titles in 1080p, but just doesn't compete with the newer more powerful cards in more current titles. My replacement card is actually an RTX 3060 I bought for $200. Saw some benchmarks of it compared to some other cards for around $250-300, which did come out a little better than the 3060, but costs a little more than what I paid. Honestly the only thing that made me regret paying $200 for my 3060 was picking up two more 3060s for $300 a couple weeks later. At $150 a pop, I think I'd take that over the 1070 or 1080 any day considering it comes out ahead in most titles, is gonna have better ray tracing performance, and will more than likely hold up better to newer titles as well. All 3 of them also happen to be 12gb models so running out of VRAM shouldn't be an issue for me with any of these cards.

    I've been absolutely surprised by my EVGA GTX 1070 that I got for 70€, an old mining card. Sure, no Starfield and probably no UE5 games or Cities: Skylines 2 either, and definately no Alan Wake II, but everything else has been working very well. Especially fun is to buy all those 3-7 year old games at big discounts and be able to play those with no worries. Witcher 3 at 1920x1200 on mostly high/very high settings stays at a locked 60fps. BG3 was fine. Prey, Dishonored and Dishonored 2 all ran perfectly just about maxed out. Kingdom Come: Deliverance works really well at 1080p high/very high, only dipping a bit at nighttime with plenty of light sources and shadows. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (with the 2021 graphics update) has been running perfectly at 1080p high as well.

    I just upgraded my 1080ti to 7800XT. It was a trusty workhorse for many years, but in newer games it started losing steam so I finally pulled the trigger. I'll still keep it in my home server for occasional CUDA tasks. I recently took part in a cybersec CTF so I had hashcat ready to go. 1080ti+CUDA still beat the 7800XT+openCL by about 20-30%. Obviously in gaming it's not even a contest, the 7800XT wins by a wide margin.

    I have rx 580 and im getting close performance to 1070, theroic perf is same 1060 but nowadays its between 1060 and 1070. In cod mw2 rx 580 so close 1070 at basic settings and if you play it on ultra or extreme settings you will see the similar performance :D 1070 or 1660 super might be choice for 90 bucks but if you have 60 bucks for it you should get rx 580 or 590. Good video btw we want more with old gpu videos thanks.

      Better for 2021-2023 that are vram heavy, EX cyberpunk and last of us. it has 128 more cuda cores so it proforms 7-15 percent better and with the more vram there sould be less stuttering and frame drops. But i wouldnt really say it wouldbe great. I'd say just stick to Medium settings. Oh and DO NOT EVER TRY TO ENABLE RTX ON 10 SERIES CARDS, IDK WHY NVIDA LET US DO IT. @@jeangunnhildr3765

    It's been a fantastic card. I only sim race, but I only race in VR..........It's run a Rift CV1, Acer WMR, Rift S, Quest and now Quest 2.........It's struggling now with the Quest 2. I have to tweak the life out of everything to get around 72 fps, and I'm looking for a 5700/6700 xt for a decent price to upgrade.

    What he's forgetting to factor in is longevity. Yes the 1070 gets you the best bang for your buck right now, but the 1080 will last you longer. 1070 stands to become more or less obsolete in like a year, at least in terms of newer titles. Meanwhile the 1080 will probably be able to hang on for a few more years.
    So if you're fine with upgrading in a year's time then by all means, go for a 1070. Otherwise if you want to be able to keep your card for a while longer and not spend any more money, you're probably better off with the 1080.

    • @NerfCraft
      @NerfCraft 10 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly, seems like the 1070 was doing pretty much anything the 1080 could. I don't think the 1080 is really gonna outlast the 1070, especially with both of them having the same amount of VRAM at 8gb, which seems to be kind of a minimum requirement nowadays from what I've been seeing. Maybe some newer games will come out ahead on the 1080 just cause it has slightly faster VRAM or something, but honestly if you're looking to "future proof" your build at all, I think you'd be better off just getting a newer RTX 3000 or 4000 series card, or one of the Radeon 6000s or 7000s cards. Most likely gonna pay a little more for it, but I think that's where you're gonna find something that will actually hold up for many more years to come. The 1000 series as good as it was, I think is just starting to get a bit dated. I don't expect it'll be long before something makes the whole series obsolete all together.
