- Welcome to today's video. I'm going to install the turbo oil restrictor for my turbo. At the previous drift event, a couple of guys told me they saw smoke coming out from my exhaust. It's a known issue and I have to replace the oil restrictor to prevent smoke from coming from the turbo. It should be an easy installation.
A bonus, I decide to install the HKS Special Fin for my BOV to whistle louder.
Both parts were purchased from Z1 Motorsports. Click the links for more information.

Lol, just like RoboCop, 🤣. Love the videos brother.
Honestly, I have no idea why I said that but it sounds pretty cool lol.
Baf great content. This should help lots of guys that going through the same issue
This is a part of it but still have to make sure if no blown head gasket, check the fuel and oil mixture, and turbo seal. Best to my knowledge, white smoke is blown head gasket/turbo seal, and blue smoke is fuel and oil mixture.
Hopefully that does it for you. I've noticed that mine will blow a lot of white smoke when I first start it after sitting for a few days. Not a lot though. Mine did that even when it was NA.
Yeah, maybe it's been sitting for few days and those are maybe just carbon build-up?
@@doubleclutchin6860 so far I don't think mine has smoked while driving it though. I have been taking it easy on it. I've got a baby turbo compared to yours though.
@@DIYAUTOCAR If I drive it normal and casual I'm good. Just when I full throttle while drifting then it will smoke out. Since I replace the oil restrictor now it's okay for now. 🤞 I have to lower my boost to 10 psi to conserve the lifespan of my turbo lol.
Did restrixtor fix the smoking?
I thought it fixed the white smoke issue but it happened to be the turbo seal went bad. Turbo has some shaft play. After replacing it with a new turbo, the white smoke went away. I hope this helps you if you're chasing white smoke.
@@doubleclutchin6860 did you have a good crank case ventilation oil catch can or anything?? sometimes excessive crankcase pressure will cars oil to see through the turbine seal into the exhaust, causing the white smoke even though the seals technically good from what I hear I’m currently dealing with white smoke out the exhaust
@@BulliKid I do have an oil catch can and I think I might of overboost both of my turbo. That's all I can think of that might cause turbo seal goes bad and cause the white smoke. The new turbo is set to 13 psi on the internal wastegate and the boost controller is disconnected. So far, no sign of white smoke after doing hard pulls. When I have the boost controller connected the boost spike up to 1.5 bar (21psi) on my HKS GT2530 capable max 14 psi and OEM RB25DET max 10 psi.
Bro if that is a stock skyline turbo I'd fucking replace that bicth especially if you running 20+psi boost I've seen those stock turbos catastrophically destroy an engine when the turbo shaft snapped and the impellers disintegrated and on others I've seen the intake impeller brake off and disintegrate also, once saw one that had been pushed to the limit lol the turbo completely shit itself the exhaust impeller gauged and bite chunks and scores and dug good enough to write off exhaust housing
I'm not using a stock turbo on this motor. Besides, I wouldn't be boosting at 20 psi on a RB20/25 turbo anyways lol. I'm using a HKS GT2530 Kai turbo and at 15 psi. The oil and coolant lines kit I bought is from Mamba and they provide the oil restrictor that is 1mm. Since I replaced it with a .035 oil restrictor no more smoke.
