Björk on 'Vespertine - "It's about not speaking for days and daydreaming
and it's snowing outside. It's about zooming in and finding heaven underneath
your kitchen table. Most people think that the life they lead is boring
and the noises they hear every day are ugly. But if you take those same
noises and make them into something magical and out of the ordinary, I
think that's brave." text: Spin 2001 by Thomas Beller, "Into The Light"
Björk has stated several reasons why the album was called "Vespertine" One of these is the prayer aspect of the album: "vespers" are evening prayers. The other reason is that the word "vespertine" relates to night time, for example things that come out at night. Björk felt that this theme was also present on the album. In the song "It's Not Up To You", she sings "The evening I've always longed for, it could still happen".
i love vespertine. its a wery sweet and Beautiful record. its one of my favourite records from #Björk
Stenheart my favorite also.
But vespertine literally relates to afternoons, not evenings
A lost love introduced this album to me. When I think of him, I play this album and reminisce on our time together. 😪
Vespertine is the best album in the world !
Legit
Truly yes!
it really is
An ex-lover left this hanging from my doorknob in the plastic bag from where she bought it. While I've not spoken to her in a decade, I remember her kindness, and would love to thank her for this excellent cd. Sensual, erotic, and beautiful.
Did you thank her?
Yes, just ran into her awhile back for first time in a long time. @@guadalupequinones7951
It’s Not Up To You is my favorite of all bjork’s offerings....through the years I’ve grown with her....and this visual is charming but does not represent how this song makes me feel. Like when you care about a book you’re reading and then someone decides to make a movie about it. No one humanly possible can ever capture our interior life and the thoughts that feelings and impressions create.
When brokenness becomes an everyday schedule
This song is great but never stood out to me much from the rest of the album until recently and then it got stuck in my head and it's just yet another gem of hers to discover
"There's too much clinging. There's too much pressure."
again a wonderful movie - it impresses me to tears ... really nice
I'm happy you enjoyed the video :)
this video is so marvelous thanks Bjork. Love you!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Such a strange feeling to be reminded that we're not in control of anything and everything was already set up to happen since the big bang.
We're just eyes smh 😔.
i believe its supposed to be an empowering thing. just like how nihilism was supposed to be
I wake up
And the day feels
Broken
I tilt my head
I'm trying
To get an angle
'Cause the evenin'
I've always longed for
It could still happen
How do I master
The perfect day?
Six glasses of water
Seven phone calls
If you leave it alone
It might just happen
Anyway
It's not up to you
(Oh, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Oh, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Well, it never really was)
It's not up to you
If you wake up
And the day feels
Ah broken
Just lean into the crack
(Just lean into the crack)
And it will tremble
Ever so nicely
Notice
How it sparkles
Down there
I can decide
What I give
But it's not up to me
What I get given
Unthinkable surprises
About to happen
But what they are
It's not up to you
(Well, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Oh, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Oh, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Oh, me share)
It's not up to you
It's not up to you
(Oh, it never really was)
It's not up to you
(Well, it never really was)
It's not up to you
It's not up to you
It's not up to you
It's not up to you
There's too much
Clinging
To peak
There's too much
Pressure
When that base sweeps in at 1.36 and 3.24 its just bliss.
Jestem zauroczony tą historyjką , aż łezka w oku się kręci.
Bardzo udane połączenie obrazu i piosenki.
Cieszę się, że podobał mi się film. Tak, obrazy działało bardzo dobrze z muzyką.
I love this keep up the good work björk ❤❤❤🔥🔥‼️‼️💯
wow just seeing this - bjork is amaizing
This song gives me a *Kingdom Hearts* vibe from their opening songs... don't know why, but I like it.
Actually, Sanctuary (KH2 opening) sounds pretty much like Björk
@@Iriy0riiii So who copied who first?
@@InfiniteTony I know that Utada, (the openings' singer) has stated once that Bjork is one of her favorite artists. Wouldn't say 'copied' but it is noticeable that she was highly influenced by her in this one. 😅
You can also notice it in some of her songs besides Kingdom Hearts series. (perfect example of this is her first english album called 'Exodus' , I believe Hotel Lobby and The Workout could fit in Post álbum)
@@Iriy0riiii Wow, I never knew Utada even knew of Bjork or that she loved her music. What a fun fact! :)
Wonderful!
true...+ excellent!

The tragic truth about the heartlessness of the universe and our powerlessness to change our fate
Interesting take, and very different from my reaction. This track feels freeing to me in a realization that we can't control everything but our own actions and even then things are absurd
@@th3lo right one thing that is being made clear to me when I was expressing dark thoughts and depression was that I was taking like too seriously. And this message continues to be shown. It's a balance of being int he passenger seat and driver's seat
Let go and let God 🙏 what you want may not be what's best for you for God sees more than we can.
@@josiecamilo7098, okay. And God sees that cancer, Parkinson's, neuropathy, ALS, and the Holocaust are best for us, but we simply are too near-sighted not to realize it? You may keep that ilk of faith, sir.
The air in mobotica is entropic
Lisa Gerrard is still the best with human emotion. Study her. She is the superstar. I liked her music, too and it got me killed. I like being deep. I like human wisdom. I do not like being unhuman.
is this the official video
+Leon Tarkshina No, I edited a short film to make this music video. The name of the film is in the video description.
The full in the hill of The Beathes?
Not up to yoyyy!!!
Horrible Video. Made Me Cry .It's To Sad What Kind Of Ending Was That.
Hahaha, mojigata
This can't seriously be a Bjork video. It's terrible.
I came to this via the excellent cover by Stornoway and can see they did a great job with it.
