- Level 13 of Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast titled, "Bespin Platform". Played on the "Jedi Knight" difficulty with 100% secrets. This is the first boss battle.
Kyle is nearing the landing platform in the hope of finding Desann, but to get to it, he will need to mind the traps that the Remnant has put in place and be sure to eliminate all Imperial troops including any Reborn. Things take an unexpected turn, however, when Kyle encounters only Desann's apprentice, Tavion. It will be a tough duel, but if Kyle can defeat her, then he will be able to learn more about Desann's operations at the Valley of the Jedi.
On a separate random note, we get an unlikely cameo from two old friends!

The Flechette weapon is pretty much the same as the Flak Cannon from the Unreal Tournament games.
I'm partway through the level, and I'm glad I watched this because I had completely forgotten about Tavion from all those levels ago. I'd have been awfully confused at the end, heh.
Also, I was very proud of myself for having found this level's secret on my own, lol. I'd been starting the previous levels by going to the secrets' timestamps on your walkthroughs to see which parts to watch out for. There's been a lot in dark corners, so when I saw that room with the stairs and whatnot I knew to get down to look under them. Thank you, Master!
You make Tavion look like cakewalk! And major developments here!
The Cairn Installation sure is going to be a long part of the game.....
I honestly think I got lucky here right from the beginning with that Force Push. She usually gives me a rough time. Even during practice runs, it was crazy tough. And Cairn's gonna be a long part for sure, but there's definitely plenty of new stuff to be seen there. Level 14 isn't as big as I remember it being for some reason, which is good I suppose, haha.
The Repeater Troopers are actually Storm Trooper Commanders, you know the guys with the orange shoulder pads
but awesome seeing more Jedi Outcast.
Starscream91 ShockTroopers don’t have orange shoulder pads, they’re the guys with the red and white armour from Ep3 at Mustafar. And yes SandTroopers also have shoulder pads on their armour.
However these guys are Commanders because the SandTroopers are dirty where Commanders are clean like normal StormTroopers.
Two interesting trivia:
- If you watch a Dexter's Laboratory episode, you'll realise that Kyle and Tavion are Dexter's parents. :D
- Last year there was a 20th anniversary developer interview about this game. Raven Software employee, Eric Biessman told a story that LucasArts was adamant that there can't be any gold Threepios in the game because C-3PO is the only gold one and he shouldn't be in this game. But Biessman pointed out that there is a comic with another gold Threepio, except that's an assassin droid. After that, LucasArts let it slide. So, at 5:05 the developers intended them to be R2-D2 and C-3PO, but officially they are not, they just look the same. That's why the Threepio's voice isn't Anthony Daniels or a soundalike.

Yea, he's an amazing voice actor.
I recognized him as some of the Reborn and stormtroopers, but not Fyar.
Steve Blum was also the voice actor for the Tank-bred Krogan named Grunt in Mass Effect 2☺

Tavion only hurt Jan to trick Kyle into thinking that she killed her. Because it gave Desann, and Galak time to cover their tracks on where to keep Jan for interrogations.

It's kind of a shame that to be a good Jedi you have to constantly be letting people who are trying to kill you live.
(I mean cutscene-level people, not mooks [who can be killed by the thousand without any thought])
Joshua Brooks Kyle is more of the Chaotic Good kind of Jedi, like Anakin Skywalker once was.
When I hopped on top of the vent thing she tried to jump up there and accidentally jumped to her death lol
lel, i recently replayed this game and defeated tavion by just force pushing her over and over again when she tried jumping from the lower ledge thingy up to me on those crates. eventually it triggered the "fall to death" animation and that was it. kinda funny :D

It's good to see others also use the "jump on the reborns' head" tactic to defeat them :D Though later on the "choke them until they push you back and then cut them while their saber is locked" tactic will be easier.
You should have used the mines on the door the Stormtroopers were coming through, that would have taken some of them out.
Door jedi is brutal! Every dark jedi to this point is a chump until the guy in the door then suddenly BAM now its hard af
I learned Tavion was voiced there by Kath Soucie (Betty Deville also Phil and Lil on Rugrats, Dexter and also Dee Dee's mother on Dexter's Laboratory, the second voice of Janine Melnitz on The Real Ghostbusters, Morgana Macawber on Darkwing Duck)
The problem with tavion is that she is just a stronger reborn, in df2 the bosses were fun because they were the only enemies with lightsabers, but the cutscenes are fun
I never thought of it that way, but you're right. I guess having the Reborns around takes the "oomph" out of lightsaber battles since they're more frequent in this game as opposed to DF2.
So do you guys use the function keys for force powers? Have you reassigned them? Do you scroll through the list and use F? Maybe it’s because I’m on a laptop, maybe it’s because I waited till this late in the game to start using them, but I’m having a hard time hitting the right function key and not hitting a weapon key on accident.
The Flechette gun fires shrapnel pieces, if I remember correctly.
In other words: it's a shotgun 🤣
Protip: At 7:26, you can see Tavions platoon. Pressing the button to unlock the door will cause them to rush inside. They don't seem to be aware of your presence in the control room. Perhaps they were waiting for one of their own to unlock the doors to help deal with you?
In any case, if you wait until the whole platoon has retreated, pull your electrobinoculars out again, and keep them trained on Tavion. She'll have her back to you, but she'll be looking off to the side, as though she's sensining something?
Sure enough, if you keep staring at her, she will turn around and stare back.
EDIT: You may need to stand on top of the control panel for it to work.

Flechette gun shoots shards of hot metal in a wide spread. I looked it up on Jedi Knight 2 manual.
This level is even easier lightsaber and Force only. I love the battle with Tavion here and she actually isn't that easy of a boss as she seems. I really like this fight.
You did great in this level as well. I never knew that secret was there and got hurt by those trip mines at the elevator when I took it the first time. That's a nasty trap, but I usually slice them off with throw and then heal myself. I usually do Tavion's battle the way you do it and the key is never stop moving. So sad you have only three bosses in this game. (Four if we count Reelo.)
This is where the game starts more fun. My favorite level is coming up soon and maybe you know it already. And you'll know why it is my favorite.
I like it too, although it's a really tough fight. I really think it's based on chance. I just never seem to know when a good Force Push or Saber Throw will work against her because it seems like she blocks just about everything. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I dunno. And your favorite is coming up? I'm trying to remember what it was if you told me...

No need telling except that it's one of the Carin levels.
This fight was very difficult for me, I thought it was like the first fight with Desann that whatever I did I couldn't hit him. The strategy I used (after many defeats) was to trick her into getting into one of the small tunnel were she couldn't jump and the it's payback time! In the extra content you can fight her again. She is more powerful this second time but Kile has all upgrades, so that time I didin't see her so fast, I think it was easier there.

I think folks just like hearing ya talk while they watch their favorite SW games :) But straight up, I think in a duel(jedi outcast or Jedi academy) I got you. You're on that Yoda ataru jumping style. I just stand and fight with my cursor facing my enemy always! Haha fr do a play through of Academy
I see Kath Soucie is using her Maddie Fenton voice for Tavion Axmis.
So the best strategy for lightsaber duels in Jedi Outcast is going full-Mario on your enemies. Gotcha!

Dang I remember when I battled Tavion's but she was so hard to kill which took me a few levels to do which is kinda like 6 reborn bosses in one Tavion

Overconfidence makes for stupid decisions. Tavion figured since Kyle hasn't touched a lightsaber in some number of years that she would beat him... she thought wrong, obviously.
