Long John Baldry, here in a mere supporting role, one of Britain´s greatest blues voices as well as a real pioneer. It´s hard to match the line-ups of his own bands shortly after this recording: Charlie Watts, on drums, Jack Bruce on bass, Brian Auger on organ, Elton John on piano & Julie Driscoll, Rod Stewart, and Mick Jagger as back-up vocalists.
Amazing to see an actual visual recording of those early days when I used to regularly attend Long John Baldry's concerts on Sunday evenings at the Eel Pie Island venue in Twickenham. Rod Stewart also toured Scotland in 1963 with Jimmy Powell & The Five Dimensions, with Rod playing more harmonica than Jimmy by then. Pete Hogman came in and played harmonica after Rod left, and it was Pete who played the riff on Millie's hit MY BOY LOLLIPOP rather than the urban myths that it was Rod or Jimmy. Rod also joined Long John Baldry just two days before Cyril Davies passed away, having already been asked to join the band the week before. They changed the name then from All Stars to The Hoochie Coochie Men. Visiting bands would change the posters in the venues to read "Ida Baldry & Her Hoochie Coochie Ladies" with Rod Stewart gaining the nickname Phyllis at that time. THE pioneering UK blues band. Who the hell was doing this in 1963? Plus a girl trio? Dear Old Carlo. So nearly a permanent Stone, which would have kept him off the burger stall and the bread round.

THE pioneering UK blues band. Who the hell was doing this in 1963? Plus a girl trio? Dear Old Carlo. So nearly a permanent Stone, which would have kept him off the burger stall and the bread round.
Somebody knows who are the chorus singers? Are the Velvelettes?
Played with Cyril's nephew Bob Davies who moved up from London area to Nottingham and was into blues big time , he used to tell me stories of Cyril and Alexis corner and how the stones and others used to follow Cyril and Alexis around to jam with them .
I think Jagger and Jones learnt Harmonica from Cyril Davies or at least took note on how he played and copied his style .
Not according to Jagger he didn't, Jagger claims davies (nice chap) told him fxxk off when asked 'how he played any tips'?
@@astragreen Jagger did glean off him he says that in the interview you saw of jagger speaking of Cyril Davies , also the part where he got on Cyril's nerves always following him around asking him for tips on playing , Cyril got on with Brian jones and of course Charlie watts much better than jagger , he did have a short fuse he was also an alcoholic and had lung disease from welding ...my Mate Bob Davies told me all the stories of Cyril and pie island club and Marquee and Alexis corner the people who where following them around , who he liked who he disliked .
