Poncho started his career playing congas with Cal Tjader , now he carries Cal's style and sounds very much like the way they both used to play many decades ago. If Cal Tjader was alive today, he would not only give high five but high ten to Poncho. Cal Tjader played and loved the latin rythm with pure love, and had an ample list of tracks in Latin jazz, style and rythm. The vibraphone played by Mr. Samuels is just spectacular. Sounds much like Cal Tjader himself.

I love Poncho! I got to play with a jazz group at the Long Beach Jazz Festival and he came on later. I got to meet him and he was great, super cool, down to earth, and man is that guy talented. I watch him frequently at Steamers in Fullerton California, the man always delivers.
