"There is no such thing as too much Mellotron". We have the M400 (W/4 tape frames) an M4000D, and two Mellotron Micro's. We also used several Mellotron Apps on our 1st album. Long live the Mellotron!

Given that the Mellotron samples are now in Garage Band and Logic Pro, there's absolutely no reason to own a hardware Mellotron. And yet, wow, do I ever want one.

UKの1979年日本青年館とスティーブ・ハケットと来日した1997年厚生年金ホールでのジョン・ウエットンを思い出すなあ。後者ではこの曲も演奏したはず。
デジタル・メロトロンなら7秒の制約はないんでしょうね。個人的にはサンプリング音のイミュレーターのストリングスが好きです。
生でキング・クリムゾンを聴かれたんですね！本当に羨ましい限りです♪
デジタル・メロトロンですが、メロトロン社が所有している当時の録音テープをそのままそっくりサンプリングしていますので、鍵盤を押し続けるとアナログ同様に6〜8秒で音は止まってしまいます。
更に「メロトロンらしい」表現を可能にするリワインド機能を搭載しており、これはテープ方式のMellotronやChamberlinのキーオフ時に発生するテープの巻き戻しのメカをシミュレートする機能で、例えば5秒ほどキーを演奏した後に一瞬手を離し、再度同じキーを押すとサンプルが先頭からではなく途中から再生されます。この機能により、あたかもテープ方式で演奏しているかのようなリアルなフィーリングを得ることができ、単純にMellotronの音色をサンプリングしただけのサンプラー等とは比べものにならないほどのリアリティを実現しているそうです。

でも巻き戻しのスピードを上げて速いパッセージが弾けるようにしちゃうとメロトロンの「らしさ」がなくなっちゃいますね😅

この曲にはこの音ですね。曲と楽器が不可分であることが判ります。アタックの無いやさしい音がピッタリ。
本物のメロトロンはアネクドテンのライブで初めて見た。演奏前にトラブルがあってエンジニアが苦労していました。故障が多いって本当でした。

おおこれはいいですねえ。本物でなくてもちゃんとキーボードとしてメロトロンなのがいい！聞いてて音の違いは全然わからないですしね。プラグインとかでPC場で同じ音は出せても、やっぱり違う気がするんですよね。こんな楽器があるの知りませんでした。有難うございます！
