Schecter has a good catalog of LP guitars with 25.5” scale length if your interested.
I got a Gus G esp eclipse that has that scale length, great guitar, just needs a pickup change because the esp stock ones are a bit meh.

After years of playing 11's, I recently backed down to 9's, and I have to say I really prefer the lighter gauge sets. Aside from the obvious playability difference, there seems to be more string to string note separation, and a bit more harmonic consonance, perhaps due to an increased ease of achieving better intonation.
I prefer tens because I play in E, D#, and D standard. They just shine for me tone wise and don't require too much power to get the notes to sing
I just got an ML Select with a blue quilted finish for $500 instead of the $900 price all because it had a small chip in the back that can easily be filled. Very impressed by the build quality.
I own 3 dean guitars and they all play fantastic.
A Les Paul fan in our small town said that the white Thoroughbred X we had in stock ... just $299, played better than a $10,000 Les Paul he owned. I have to take him at his word!
Sounds like dude needs a pro setup on that Gibson or unless it's an Epiphone. But really, it took me 20 years to really appreciate the value of having a guitar setup. I bought some expensive guitars that seemingly played well out of the box so I didn't set them up. But I couldn't figure out why I kept going back to my $500 Schecter when it came to the best playability...but I had that one setup right when I bought it. After the setups my more expensive ones played way better than they did prior.
Own 4 Dean's and I love all of them. Never had any issues with them feeling "dead" but if I had to complain about something it would be the Dean branded DMT pickups and their stock tuners. Never had any real tuning stability issues, they just felt kind of light and cheap. The pickups were just fine in the clean tones and pretty decent if you threw a little dirt at them, but if you really pushed them they got muddy fast. Swapped out to Grover tuners on all of them and eventually some new Seymour Duncan pickups and they play and sound great.
To be fair, my stock Jackson, Epiphone and Washburn pickups felt the same way too. All of them got changed. Oddly the only guitars I haven't swapped pickups on are all three Greg Bennett's and they have Duncan Designed pickups which sound oddly good
Otherwise the fit and finish, for me at least, has always been really good. They required minimal setup when I bought them. I guess I've been lucky that the frets were always smooth, the nuts were cut well and the other stock components like the bridges and pots were really nice. I like the neck profiles and all of them have a satin finish on the neck which is nice to play.

I have an old tiger eye Evo when they came out and it’s one of my mo dependable guitars! Deans are amazing and I love they are coming out with some new design.
Right on, I agree with you 100 %. I got my Evo back in 2006, really solid and beautiful guitar.
I like to root for Dean because I live near Tampa where their HQ is. That's a really good looking guitar.

Always been a Dean fan, but I haven't held a guitar newer than about 2004. I really do wish they'd bring back the EVO and Soltero. The good EVOs (like the select line) had the best neck heel on a LP-alike I've ever used. This Thoroughbred thing gives me some of those old school turn-of-the-century Dean vibes. I still have my EVO Noir, and I know a guy who has like 5 of them, even the Dragster, which is about as Kyle as you can get, but still amazing guitars.
And I don't care who you are. The Cadillac is F'n Sweet. You know you like it.
I’ve been debating on getting one of these but in the z (explorer) shape. I love explorers and it would be my 8th. I just love that finish.

That’s nice man, the Dean Deceiver is also very nice. I have a deceiver in Black with gold hardware, it is awesome. Came with emg 81/85 set. It’s a beast and plays as good as a Paul.
Have blue FMF with fixed bridge and 81/85. Great guitars. Very underrated

I agree! I just bought this one last night and I LOVE it, and it's GORGEOUS, and I love that my headstock doesn't have the wings, only the name Dean. The only thing I wish it had was that slightly pointier horn, a la an ESP - but, I'll take it!
I've heard that since Evan Rubinson took over as CEO that Dean has really up there game.
I've had a big gripe for a long while about Tune-o-Matic equipped guitars let alone ones with a break angle on the headstock of at least 12-ish degrees or more. I hate that everyone leaves the stoptail piece bolted down even though it IS adjustable for a reason but also, I just loathe that horrible break angle. It puts so much stress on the strings & hell, even among a few other headstock shapes, the tuner placement makes them veer off diagonally & adds even more tension & no matter how "in-tune" you think it may be, I just don't think it's an acceptable method to purposely make strings be uneven like that. Those design cues are why I prefer Fender & even the Yamaha SGV guitars because those models make the strings almost perfectly straight. Also love PRS stuff because of their badass & perfectly engineered wraparound bridge as well as the evenly spaced tuners due to the headstock shape. 😍
I've never understood when people say Dean aren't that good, I got a Dean Deceiver about 7/8 years ago and it's been one of my most loved and gigged guitars
Actually the first Deam guitar I've liked the look of aesthetically. And the Duncan pick ups definitely make it even more enticing. I'd at least compare it to an esp 1000 as that's my standard for single cuts.

Whenever I think of Dean, I think of the ML, Razorbacks, Dave Mustaine V, and that Dave Mustaine Explorer. Any time I see anything else, I need to remind myself that Dean makes something other than Dimebag or Dave Mustaine stuff. Dimebag and Dave Mustaine, that is what Dean is to me.

This is a good looking Dean! I think one thing that hurts Dean is how absolutely hideous their headstocks tend to be.
A lot of their head stocks are ugly, but some of them somehow work with their guitars, like the Dean ML. The only one that I think can be considered good are the Head stocks on the Dave Mustaine V guitars.

Yeah, this might be the only headstock of theirs that I like. The headstock on this Thoroughbred would look great on the Cadi guitars too.
I love a lot of their (classic styled) V guitars, but don't like the headstock that's also a V shape. I would like to see some of these V's with a more traditionally inspired V headstock shape. As close as they can get without Gibson coming after them at least.

@@freezingCode Im the other way around, i think the optimal headstock for a classic V is a V headstock like Dean´s, i have been playing classic shaped Dean V´s for pretty much exclusively for almost 15 years now. It may not fit some other guitars that well though.

Well I've been using some Dean guitars for several years and never regret it! They plays awesome! Try a VMNT once and compare it to the Jackson Mustaine used in the 80's and 90's and you'll see how incredible the VMNT is. The neck is awesome! Same with my MLs same with the Eric Peterson V Skull that is perfect for Thrash with its EMG pickups and that gorgeous graphic.. seriously, Dean is way more than just Dimebag's original guitar brand.. and even for that, we deserve a lot from these guys! looks at the chicago series models for example with super distortion pickups, it's an incredible serie! Just perfect for most of the rock standards. This Thoroughbred and the Soltero are perfect for something more modern. But really, most of what they propose is fantastic.

Yep. That's a Les Paul...Very pretty and great sounding guitar, but it doesn't even attempt to hide it's heritage. Would love to see dean bring back the Cadillac Straight Six

I’ve owned 3 Deans in my life and I can honestly say I didn’t shed a tear when I traded/sold them on. The only one that I can say I didn’t hate was an acoustic and even that one had its issues. Granted this was 20 years ago but those 3 guitars left a bad taste in my mouth and I’ve avoided Dean guitars since then. However I’d reconsider if the circumstances were right. Good work, Ryan.
Hey fluff would you review the Marshall mode four in retrospective . I had one and I believed at the time the tone from it was amazing in places not through out. The clean crunch channels were top notch from such a powerful amp at a lower/bedroom playing level.

Hi...can you tell me whether the greenish / turquoise color of the ocean burst is visible in person? This is the first guitar I'm ever going to buy based on looks, and I read one comment that a dude saw it in person and it was all blue/white, no green. It's so hard to tell from a computer. Many thanks in advance for a reply....
For anyone interested, I bought this guitar and indeed it's very greenish/turquoise in the middle, and hella-blue on the edges. Beautiful guitar, sounds great, looks great, plays great.
This is my list for this and next year: 1) Schecter Apocalypse Red, 2) Charvel Joe Duplantier White, 3)DEAN Thoroughbred Blue, 4)Esp Ltd Andromeda, 5)EVH 5150 and to close my studio a Peavey MH 5150. Because of the MXN takes a big shot in front of the dollar I need to work hard, but conserve this comment, next I close my collection.

Did you use a cheap distortion pedal for this demo? It sound like the high gain tone was lacking fullness and was very boxy.
It was his dual rectifier with the boost off and no EQ

It's a copy of a Gibson Les Paul, so yes you can play everything from GNR, to Les Paul & Marry Ford, to Manolis Chitois, on this thing.

To be honest, Dean has built that body style long before the lawsuit as well as many other companies like PRS, ESP.. etc.. The Thoroughbred was not part of the lawsuit and G hasn't filed any lawsuits that I know of on the single cut away type guitars since they lost their case in the Supreme Court with PRS.
