- How I performed an update of RNS-510 firmware with a newer version and newer, more recent maps.
If you want to perform this too, you do this at your own risk!
I cannot be held responsible if it fails or worse, you brick your RNS.
I just show you in this video, how the update proces works.
Nothing more!
Firmware I obtained at that time from my-gti.com but that site seems to be down.
Which is really a pitty because a lot of resources were there to find :-(
In the meantime I switched over to an Android 10 based head unit so can't help you anymore with specific questions.
I do NOT have firmware updates so I can't help you with this!
Please use Google or another searchengine a look for 5238 Update by Josi if you want that specific firmware, or visit a dealership and pay some money (and get warranty ;-)

Do you maybe know who this Josi was (maybe if you have his contact information still somewhere), that created fw cds like recovery CD and Video in Motion CD?
No I don't know. I've found the software at my-gti.com, but that site is down unfortunately. But on German tx-board.de there are some people who might know him. Regards
Great, we know it works now. But why is everyone posting videos on how to do this, but no one is pointing in the direction of where to get the damn firmware! can't do an update if you dont have the damn software.

Hoi. Wat is het onderdeelnummer van je rns 510. Welke firmware heb je er op gezet? Niet iedere firmware kan zo maar op elke RNS510 gezet worden namelijk.
Met een beetje geluk en de juiste firmware voor jouw systeem, zie daarvoor ook my-gti.com kun je je systeem wellicht weer goed werkend krijgen. Kaarten kun je nadien er weer opzetten, bijvoorbeeld de meest recente versie. Maar eerst moet je radio weer stabiel worden. Lukt dat niet, dan kan er technisch ook iets defect geraakt zijn, bijvoorbeeld een eindtrap van het versterker gedeelte. Groeten en succes

Ik heb HW:H73 SW:5238 maar werkt niet goed en scherm blijft hangen als ik op Media knop druk.

This is due to being older firmware version...
If you have VCDS, you can code older firmware version to display the information button.
Hey man i got Passat B7 2013, my display used to be black just like yours until today. When i turned on my car the display is now white like the older ones. Whats the problem please help
Have you performed any changes or updates which could cause this behaviour? By the way, I'm not a helpdesk, just somebody who filmed while updating my system, that's all :-)

ik laat hier zien hoe het in zijn werk gaat. Niets meer en niets minder. Als je denkt dat je dit allemaal kunt downloaden, prima, maar je bent dan hoogstwaarschijnlijk illegaal bezig, en daar werk ik niet aan mee..

Heb je enig idee waarom ik "versie informatie" niet zie staan als ik op de knop Setup blijf duwen?
Ja, je moet de knop na een paar seconden loslaten en dan pas via het menu moet je het wel kunnen zien. Het is dus niet meteen zichtbaar tijdens knop in drukken.

Im looking for south east asia (Brunei/Malaysia/Singapore) version 7. Its really hard to find it.. mine currently is 2012 maps. So sad plus the firmware is old.. if i get this dvd for mine, how happy i am.
Hi wen you did this up date was you still able to watch DVDs on the stereo? I’m looking at buying a up date CD (not really sure what one it is) as it’s now 2021 but I’m guessing for my car mk6 golf edition 35 I should get the 2020 one that iv seen on eBay ?
I never watched DVD'S on the unit. Not before and not after the update.

I don’t know if my head unit is faulty or what but mine just keeps rebooting over and over again with no info displayed.

Mijn 510 blijft in “Setup software loading application” met een progress bar maar dan gebeurd er niets heb je enig idee
