  • This video demonstrates how to rig linear slides for FTC (and other linear slide projects), starting with simple string slides and working up to a cascading belt slide. For more information about slides and how to build them, see the following links:

Exceptionally helpful for our team - we are just trying to learn how to do linear motion.

Thanks for solving one of my running problems! Maybe my arm will work well this time!

I have a 4- pole telescopic antenna mast, total length around 10th fully extended. I want to add some sort of a internal slider mechanism so I just wind up via a pulley.
Do you have any suggestions, and maybe a diagram on how to construct.

Hello, good idea! We were wondering what you used for the rods and belts?

    Hi,
In the last concept with the belts how the first belt is connected to the second stage? The belt is not continuous right? It have a free end attached to second stage?

Does stringing it so it's cascading make the slides weaker?

Yo. When I downloaded the CAD files, they were super big. Is there a way to fix that?

Is the CAD for the slide available? And how robust is it? How sturdy?

Yep, link is in the description. It's likely not strong enough for a competitive robot, the concept is provided more for a cheap way to prototype slides or perhaps use on early robot iterations. I've also made a version for MISUMI slides, which is much more robust.
