- Detroit’s Hart Plaza was transformed into the perfect venue for a brand new street skateboarding contest from the mind of Ryan Sheckler: Red Bull Hart Lines.

The format features two lanes, each with its own unique set of skateable features. The course incorporates a mix of existing stair sets, rails and ledges, along with features designed by California RampWorks. Athletes get to skate each lane once, then for their third run the choice is theirs. The top score from each lane is averaged to determine the skater’s overall score.

This competition is brilliant. Time trials but with skateboarding. Faster finish and better tricks wins. So cool!

That Torrey Pudwill interview is hilarious
The scoring system definitely needs work. When you fall on the biggest section and still end up with an 88 because of 16 extra points for simply skating fast, that doesn't make sense. I loved this contest though, looking forward to more.

that course looks sick. i dont think a skater's time should count for much tho. its all down hill anyways so i think it would keep people from trying to rush to the finish and they would try harder shit. and i just think if a skater goes fast it will be added to his style points and someone going super slow will get points taken off...i think shit usually looks better when its done with some speed, but i dont necessarily think the faster it is, the better it is.

Really awesome, it does seem to be the most natural type of competition. Like the area is being skated exactly how a couple friends would skate it. I think maybe the time element should count less though. I like the idea of it, it keeps the flow and stops skaters from getting off and setting up for each trick, which personally I think kills the flow during park sessions.. but, maybe not have it carry so much weight in the scoring.

Dubbzzy+ Or you can tackle this course with the idea "Ill just do basic ass boring tricks i can land every try". not saying its a bad idea but you have to admit, everybody is pretty much doing basic tricks. You can make the same points you made about this course format or Street League format. Some of the points you made im honestly not sure if you are saying they're a negative or positive, or which format you are referring to because they can apply to either one.

I'm confused. curren caples 72 with 26 seconds. adjusted score was 88 hrm. Ryan 85 with 25.7 adjusted score 45... completely fucked

the timing element shouldnt be counting so hard. its ok its get counted, but its so important that they rush and dont care about trying harder tricks. the course is good, but they shouldnt have to stop beofre doing the last trick. curren is a beast holy fk. makes it look so effortless such style.

The scoring is pretty stupid. I think that if they finish below 30sec they should get a higher score and finishing after 30sec then they should get a lower score. Because even they guys that were going fast still ended up getting points deducted from their score.

this is f-cking great. but i don't agree with the description--- detroiters have been skating hart plaza (especially the underground part they blocked off) for years. ducking and dodging those homeland cops every night :D
