Terrific video. I don't think I would have figured PhotoPills out without your videos. With each one I watch I get more proficient and now feel like I can create and execute a plan. I have a great location in Maryland with a lighthouse in the foreground planned but a snowstorm is forecast to block the view. Thanks for the well thought out tutorials.
Thanks so much for this video and it was so useful. I hope everybody gets clear skies for this event. So happy to have your app as it's fantastic plus RUclips channel. Keep up the fantastic work your doing and I hope you get some great shots of the eclipse!!!!
Thank you for the video, that was extremely useful. You made me consider trying shoot the eclipse. Photopills has so many features that I always learn from your how to videos.
That was great. It inspired me to start planning for the eclipse locally, but in my area (near Philadelphia) the moon will be about 70 degrees above the horizon during the eclipse, so I need something very tall to provide a foreground.
This is great! Thanks so much for posting the tutorial! Where I'm going to be, the moon will be too high in the sky to place it next to landmarks during the eclipse, but at least I know when the full super wolf blood moon is going to rise in a spot where it will be next to the landmarks. Thanks again!
@@PhotoPills I've also posted this video on the KelbyOne Community where there is much interest in the event. Would love to see you teach a KelbyOne class or at the very least, see you on The Grid! Cheers!
This has been really helpful as i spent a few hours last night trying to calculate for the moon shot on Monday in Leeds but the thing I'm struggling with is the distance i need to be for a 300mm prime lens?
On the Planner, tap on the Map Settings button (next to the + map button) and then tap on Map tool. Use the Field of View tool to see the FoV on the map. Check this link of our user guide: www.photopills.com/user-guide#map-tools
If it's even possible, can you show a plan for shooting the eclipse from Jersey City, New Jersey (or surrounding area) with the New York City Skyline ( or Brooklyn Bridge; Statue of Liberty) in the background?
Hi David! I'd love to... but I can't make it before the eclipse. In this video you have all you need to plan it... follow the same steps but with the Red Pin in Jersey City. Also notice that in that are, the eclipse will be very high in the sky (70º above the horizon) and it'll be happening due south... so it won't be possible to shoot with New York Skyline.
@@johngardiner3312 You have to send the file to your device (using email for example) and open it to import the plan with PhotoPills. It won't work if you try to open it with your desktop computer
hello I would be greatful if someone could help me. When I select "total eclipse 21/01/19"I cannot proceed to the next step as I do not have "done" button showing
The app is fantastic , but it lacks one important aspect , "Weather" .. please Add weather information of the Locations in the future updates , also it should include the Clouds and their altitudes ..

@@michaeldow3220 Wow! Thanks so much! That would be awesome! Haven't met Scott yet... hope to do it one day!
Learned a lot by watching this. Thanks.
Thanks!
you are the best!
Thanks so much!
I hope one day you will design a windows based planner. I would like to work off my large computer screen when I'm doing my planning.
Thanks for the suggestion!
You could run the planer in an Android simulator.
A web based one would be better so non-windows users can use it!

Fantastic. Thank you Raphael.
Thank you Bella! (need to improve my video skills though :P)
Presentation is fine, Raphael. Maybe change white balance a bit as it is too warm.

Assume plan! This was my first time going thru the planning steps. I'm not familiar with KMZ files, it did not work for me.
Do you mean you couldn't import the KMZ file from the link in the description?
I could download the file but when I tried to open it tried to open in Photoshop and then it failed there.

frank b hi! In android you have to tap the back button (top left). The done button is the way modal views are closed. In android is the back button.

What about the weather?

I have not: Map Setting Dome on the screen.
Are you on Android? iOS works with the Done button, on Android the default way to do it is the back button at the top left.
Grazie. Dome.
