I am Autistic. I am not a "Person with Autism." I cannot take my autism off like a jacket. It cannot go into remission, like cancer. It cannot be cured, because I am not ill. It is a part of who I am. I see that you mean well, however, you need to ask the individual how they wish to be referred.
Thanks for letting me know your point. I do not think that calling someone by their name and also thinking about them/ referring to them to others as person first, need to be separated. My brother Chaim is exactly that- Chaim, who is in 9th grade, loves sports, and has DS. And it is extremely hurtful to him and others if he is only seen as a Downs kid. Which is a real problem- even today (years later after the speech).
Another well intended but in many contexts annoying (and even patronizing) idea from the experts. Most shocking is when they insist and even correct the individuals with the condition themselves that prefer not to utilize these "PC approved" guidelines.

It’s done by calling me by my Name, Not by using person first Or identity first labels

What about people who are offended by person first language?
elaborate!
@@arahata1 Some people prefer identity-first language. For example, a deaf person who is part of the Deaf community.
Wow. Amazing.
