Subbed, because of that fade in to Love Action, brings back so many happy memories of my crazy nights in Nottm, back in the day... Remember them so vividly.. Wow.. lol. Pmsl.
The Human League is one of the best bands from the 80s era. I love Phil Oakey he is so talented and has a voice like no other. This mix is legendary. Those synthesisers are iconic. Great UK band.❤❤❤
Put this on at any party and it's guaranteed to get people dancing or reflecting back to the 80?s, the fade into love action is immense......worth the wait, nearly 10mins of perfection...
Thanks for this. ❤ I had this vinyl 12" as well as others in a vast collection, until my ex dumped my whole collection at the tip/dump for no reason but for pure spite.
I can still remember the holy shit delight of Phil showing up on Top Of The Pops (Thursday night I think) with that asymetrical haircut and lipstick FFS, the complaints line must have been red hot. I have nothing but good memories of them. I used to spin the 12" of Hard Times/Love Action when I DJ'd, it worked every time, got the punters moving, without fail.
Love action is such a badass tune its from 1981 just as the disco era was finishing up but could easily have been a hit on the dance floors in the 70s disco clubs xxx
Fantastic record, that makes you feel great. First time I heard it was watching an episode of Bergerac one Sunday night back in 1982. He was looking for a criminal in a Night Club, and I couldn't believe this incredible sound, and I had no idea it was by the Human League. I soon purchased it.
I don't think that all the great music is in the past, but listening to this kind of music I realize that musicians and producers can create a new wave of sound and records that will last into the future..🤔🤔🤔
It's never too late to pay tribute to this talented and providential man, who through to him, all and even several generations was able to feast on this period new romantic, and the emergence of a music style. Synth', swaying hips of a dance typically new wave. Initially 80 ', it was a revolution to hear this style of pure and clean music. A lifestyle. So, here, i also pay him tribute.
Haven't listened to this for years. Just got goose bumps. Reminds me of so many beautiful people from the fabulous past. I was 18 when this came out. Wonder how Liz, Lindsey, Lisa, Alison & all the rest are.
I had this on a cassette tape back in the '80s. What a great groove. I remember them opening up one of their live shows with this song. It was fantastic. Way to start a show.
first time I heard this I was getting a lift home from a party or something , , , I made the driver keep going around the block until it finished . that was 1982
I put Hard Times on a Jukebox in a pub in Holmfirth UK in 1981, I was instantly cool, it WAS the B side to Love Action and not well known, got some right stares, copped off as well.
El mejor tema del traspaso de la era analogica a digital....el inicio de la nueva era de sintetizadores digitales un hito y una obra de arte....fantastico un antes y despues marco este tema que data de 1982.
Thanks for posting. I had this '12 back then. Seeing Joann Catherall in a wedding dress in the video for "Love Action" broke my heart....then I fell for Suzanne a few months later hehe..
great times , still got all the vinyl , all the albums and every 12" from the eighties even being boiled and dignity of labour , brilliant tunes & times.
I Love to Play Along with my Casio-VL1 tone/ it's the same damn micro synth from the early 80's that they used here. SO COOL, so simple. Just a great riff from a toy instrument!
> Totally love this mix :) There is so much going on musically and it brings back a flood of fun memories ! Thank you for finding this and sharing it !
60 years old and still listening to the music I have loved all my life , along with Kraftwerk , Gary Neumann , erasure And blancmonge . Basically all things regarding electro pop,
It makes me wonder if the Human League were the first artists to fade one track into the next, as they have done here....you hear it all the time now in the clubs and on Ibiza?Ministry of Sound/Creamfields CD's and stuff like that but you didn't hear it done in the early 80s...or at least I think you didn't! Whatever, it's a brilliant song, Hard Times is so addictive!
Seattle's Sheikh Idriss Mosque, the first mosque in Seattle to be built as a mosque, and the first west of the Mississipi River to be of a Muslim archtecture design, was opened in 1981, the year this song came out and music like it topped the charts.
Ah, memories..at the time my brother & I shared a joke, that whenever "Hard Times" was played, we'd say "I know all the words to this", & see who could say it first...lol btw, ever heard anything by "The Men"? it was a pre-League band with Phil on vocals, only released one album, a friend had it, & it was pretty good from what I remember
@Maverick747uk Not the only one, mate. Andrea and I at Smokies in Bardsley, Friday nights; Romeo and Juliet, Oldham, Saturday nights. The music of the 80's was so much better than that of today, in my opinion anyway! xxx

Greek Islands on Cassette, September, 1989...lying on the beach on Pathos, Naxos and Santorini, aged 18 listening via a walkman...constant rewind...
