Love going back to your old vids about this camera. I have a ETRS and at this point I think it will be my main camera for years. There are so many add on's I can get for it. Just need to pick up a few alternate lenses. I can't find this film back anywhere but id definitely love to pick one up some day.
@@ChefAlexSocci you get 24 shots with 135W back using 36 exposure 35mm film, whereas 120 film gives you max 15 shots per roll which you can crop down to the same aspect ratio as the 135W film back as you suggest. So it probably works out cheaper in terms of film with 135W back but of course 135W back costs much more than a regular 120 film back.
Great video. I am off to Poole tomorrow (Saturday 10th Sept) and taking the new to me ETRS with the 135 W for its first outing and the 120 back I used yesterday. Going to Mixed up the film stock to see what happens. I wish you well and keep up the great video photo work.
Word u man these are what's up. Would be cool if it exposed the sprockets. I notice you said the back is more than the camera, I have an m645 and the waist level finder is sometimes as much as a good body.
This is my go-to purchase for 2022 for my ETRS. But the price man, it's worth of mint ETRSi. Anyway, good shots, I loved the car ones because of the same reason you mentioned. Getting close, get the details and a lot more into your frame.
1.5 times size means roughly 55:24. Still not as wide as xpan (65:24), but overall I can see it as a convenient package. BTW, I've also seen people using 3D printed 35mm adapter on their Mamiya RB. Not exactly a fun process because dark cloth is needed for film unloading.
Yeah I believe it is a 56:24, as 645 is 56mm wide. Still, I'd rather have this than change out film in a dark bag, because that sounds like a royal pain. If you did want the 65:24 aspect ratio, cropping this frame just slightly would get you there. The only camera I can think of that shoots native X-Pan or wider aspect ratio is the Mamiya 7, but I don't have $3000 dollars. Personally, I think the Bronica SQ system is a better system to do this with. You get pano backs for them too, plus the added novelty of the square format. I've got one in my cart right now
when you look through the view finder does it actually give you the crop to frame the image perfectly as well? im guessing when loading the roll - it rolls like any other 35mm film camera but with that back. is it possible to switch backs as well and what lens did you use?
Those backs are so expensive that I’ll definitely continue with 120 and just crop it on my ETRS. My ground glass already has the markings for 35mm so is just a question of being mindful of it while shooting. Would love to actually use 35mm but it is hard to justify that price! 😅
Nice video and nice shots! Would you say that Zenzanon 50mm lens is closer to 35mm lens or to a 50mm lens when shooting on a 35mm negative? I mean, i know 50/2.8 is a wide lens on 120, but how wide does it feel on 135 film?
I’d say the lenses don’t feel like they change. The 135 negative is still the width of a typically 6x4.5 shot, despite missing part of the top and bottom
I guess this is cool, but if you do the math, without even including the cost of the back it's actually cheaper per image to shoot 120 and just crop the image in post than to shoot 35mm in this way. Realized that with the Mamiya 6 and the 35mm conversion kit.
you could rationalize a lot of things about film this way. at the end of the day, we are all paying money per image and the prices keep increasing. jokes on us
$400 for a film back which just masks off the top and bottom of the image to give a panoramic image dimension? Seems pretty silly since you can make the same image on normal 120 film for free. So you can use cheaper 35mm film with the back? No enough savings to justify a back which is just a novelty to be shelved after a few photo trips. Remember that the image perspective is determined by the lens, not the back. Otherwise, IMO the Bronica Etrs is the best 645 SLR out there. Although I use Pentax 67, If I changed to 645 format, I'd go all in for the Bronica.

thanks for the encouragement. this is precisely why i shoot film - because of the ability to mess around and be creative. cheers 💪🏽
Beautiful camera and gorgeous hots! I’ve learned from you in wide angle shooting. Thank you!
glad you liked the video 😊
How did you scan the film frames?
Digital camera I think

thanks for watching! that is VERY old haha. the film back is super expensive now on ebay
Just got an ETRSi recently. I do love the idea of the 135W back. At the moment I have the 75mm 2.8 PE and motor winder.
very nice! thats' a good kit
its actually cheaper per image to shoot 120 and just crop it, not even including the cost of the 135w film back

enjoy! and thank you 😊
Awesome video man keep up the good work!
thanks for the support! will do 💪🏽
My 135N back is on the way to me from Japan, that was almost impossible to find this back film 🙈
Haha yea. The W is even harder
Word u man these are what's up. Would be cool if it exposed the sprockets. I notice you said the back is more than the camera, I have an m645 and the waist level finder is sometimes as much as a good body.
haha yea the film back is wild expensive. these accessories get crazy prices sometimes
It’s the resolution! Cropping a 120 film is not the same as shooting panoramic with two 135 frames.

Haha good luck! When I owned it, it was half the price

@@_shreyash_anand Yep I think it's a very acceptable compromise. Well, blame those social media influencers that XPan/Mamiya 7 prices skyrocket :D
This would be cool for full body portraits! I think u should give it a go :-) Nice photos btw!!
thanks! i don't have it anymore tho

is it possible to switch backs as well and what lens did you use?
Nope. The viewfinder stays the same. Altho some have some lines there
@@ribsy I see thank you very much
do you know if Bronica made something similar for the SQ-Ai? thanks...
i'm not sure, but i think they do
Yes, you can get a 135 back for the sq-ai
I’m sold. I just my bronica ETRS. Gotta get this next.
Oh hell yea. It’s fun … but pricey af lol

I missed the boat, those film backs are $600+ now.
lol yup

you really hate that film back don’t you?? 😀 thanks for watching

Well, the 135W opens the door to 35mm film stocks not available in 120.
