The red aoe 3x3 square marker will always go to the lowest HP unit in your team. Sometimes the tank will have to stand in stigmata tile to reduce his HP to make it the lowest.

Yup yup, the 3x single target attack targets the closest unit. After a unit gets hit with it, it will have [The Magician's Crimson] debuff for 4turns. Next round, gotta switch to another unit to be closest to the boss to take the 3x single target attack.
