    About our Guest :
Prateek is the Founder of a leading physical accessibility start-up called RampMyCity that aims to improve the quality of life of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and the elderly population of India. He founded RampMyCity in 2020 after suffering a paraplegia due to a spinal cord injury in 2014, which motivated him to work towards making cities that are more sustainable, inclusive, and accessible for all.
As the Founder & Managing Director of RampMyCity, Prateek oversees the end-to-end delivery of infrastructural solutions for public and private sectors, ranging from ramps, accessibility audits, retrofitting recommendations, implementations, urban planning, training, and awareness. Under his inspiring leadership, RampMyCity has made more than 500+ public places accessible for PwDs in less than four years, earning recognition and appreciation from international bodies such as UNICEF, W.H.O, World Bank, and a growing list of reputed clients.
RampMyCity is an accessibility start-up which provides simple infrastructural solutions and adequate human training in public and private sectors for the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and Elderly Population.
Started, in 2018, as a simple appeal to get restaurants accessible for wheelchair users, RampMyCity now has made mainstream places of public usage like workplaces, residential societies, schools, colleges, public parks, police stations, ATMs, supermarkets, places of sports and leisure, eateries, hotels and government buildings accessible.
“Our motto is to make accessibility in India from being "idealistic" to "realistic". RampMyCity aims to improve the quality of living of PwDs by creating opportunities for them to fully participate in the socio-economic-cultural life of India and have a life at par with able-bodied citizen of our rapidly growing country.
To begin acting in a direction, we need to start thinking and talking first. Hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did having it. Let's keep working together.💫

    LESSER KNOWN FACTS:
*There are 7000 known rare diseases in the world.
*Only 5% of them have a known line of medical treatments which are astronomically priced.
*In India, these treatments are unsupported by Insurance or by the Government.
*The only way to access these treatments which run into lacs and crores is through medical crowdfunding.
*The success rate of medical crowdfunding in India for rare disease treatments is less than 2%.
    * A simple way to prevent rare diseases is to undertake a genetic screening test well before conceiving a child.
