A few years ago I reduced caffeine by half because it wires me but I love the taste and want two 14 oz. cups. I am not brand loyal but prefer local organic coffee. I encourage people to drink organic to reduce overall toxic burden and support small farmers.❤
I’ve drank coffee since I was five years old with my great grandma. I’m 75 with too much calcium and have never stopped drinking coffee. I take K2 and it’s helped with my spinal stenosis. No longer wanting to walk bent over. Also started peptide collagen with bovine all organic grass fed powder. After three months my energy level spiked. It’s been a year and feels great. Still work 12 hours a week. I love coffee. Organic coffee.
I’ve been drinking half/caf for several years. Best overall decaf for me is Whole Foods 365 Buzz Free Decaf (organic and Swiss Water Process decaffeination (no chemicals)
I drink Peet's Italian Roast and am usually disappointed by other options. And agree, I think most people can report their coffee intake with a very high degree of accuracy. I once read a study done with data from the Women's Health Study II (I'm a participant) that showed that coffee drinkers don't commit suicide as often as non-coffee drinkers. That was enough for me to continue my 24 ozs daily consumption. 🥰

Very true. I experienced morning legs cramps every single day for almost a year without knowing what the heck happened with my old body. I am 71, very active athletic woman with no health issues. I blamed on my aging. It's very annoying that I had to jump off my bed every early morning to stop my leg cramps while still in the sleeping stage. Then i doubted my caffeine consumption that i normally had at least 6 to 7 cups daily, hot and cold, matcha tea and coffee (i used decaf coffee to prevent sleep loss). I use only organic products and bought the best brands possible on the market. Organic Domatcha ceremonial grade and Mount Hagen organic decaf instant coffee as they are co2 processing. First I stopped matcha and used only decaf coffee. The morning cramps still happened. I stopped both, matcha and coffee altogether. Only after one day, no cramps in the morning. I feel amazing although a bit lazy and low energy as the result of withdrawal effects. After a week with no cramps i took 2 glasses of ice decaf coffee yesterday. Woke up with legs cramps again!!!! But i still took a hot matcha cup this morning, i guess i crave for it. They are really addictive, specially after 20+ years daily habit. It was ok until last year to experience cramping and twitching legs muscles. Will see how it feels tomorrow morning when i wake up after a cup of matcha this morning. I also wanted to make a remark, decaf coffee still interrupt your sleep. It still has a little amount of caffeine that affects older people.
I love coffee! However, I cut back from 40gr/day to 20 when I researched it about 3 yrs ago. At that time I was dx'd with Osteoporosis (T score -3.4). I've improved my T score to -1.2 as of last Dec. I only drink organic coffee beans to avoid pesticide residues. Coffee is the most heavily pesticide laden crop in the world. I grind them by hand with a manual burr grinder just before brewing. I use a pour over with a non-bleached paper filter to reduce cafestol. I add vanilla whey protein and glycine for bone health and flavoring. My favorite beans are med-dark roasted organic beans from South America. BTW, I admit to a serious case of confirmation bias when it comes to evaluating the health benefits/risks of coffee consumption. ;)

I tend to drink decaf most of the time when at home. If I go out, I seldom get decaf because it tastes awful at most restaurants. There are a couple of exceptions here in Milwaukee where I live. Typically, these serve coffees I also make at home, which are locally roasted. My preferences are decafs from Collectivo, Valentine and Stone Creek Coffee. There are a few other roasters in Milwaukee but I haven’t tried them. Usually, I get beans and grind them myself before making a pot. I also have a Keurig for making single cups if I won’t be around to drink more than 1 cup. For K-cups I use several brands , mostly purchased online because finding a strong, dark roast decaf in the local supermarket is practically impossible. Basically, I drink coffee for the flavor, not the caffeine. I get that in energy drinks (sugar free of course) so I don’t need it in my coffee.
Wow-I'm an ELDERLY woman at 68? Go figure. I'm down to one big cup of Lavazza espresso (maybe two) a day and that's as far as I can go, osteoporosis or not.
Coffee has benefits. Yup a K-cup of Starbucks Cafe Verona but I sip on it all day. But the caffeine is in the k-cup, so what difference is it if I choose more or less water? I set my water setting at 12 ounce.

I avoid coffee like the plague. I once had several cups of tea at a ski event and skied up the same steep hill three times. My wife says I was wired. So I occasionally have a cup of tea and a little chocolate. But I ignore the alcohol warning on bone loss, as I won't give up my one to two glasses of wine per day. Seattle's Best Organic Coffee, using a non bleached filter, pour over method, two cups in the morning and not at the same time as calcium. I do have organic kombucha at lunch for gut health. Recently had a DEXA and for the first time the technician asked a series of 20 questions which included: "how much coffee do you drink?" I asked if they were comparing the information with others and DEXA results for a study and she said no. Currently, trying to do 1/2 decaf. with 1/2 caffeine. Concerned about loosing the benefits of caffeine such as cognitive function as I get older.
I don’t want to give up on my coffee in take! However, I try to get organic coffee, medium roast and some times decaf in the afternoon. Also i reduced my consumption to 2-3 cups a day.
I drink one cup in the morning. I make it with Organic Ethiopian coffee. If I need a "pick-me-up" in the afternoon, I drink one cup of organic green tea, but this is not daily.
I buy my coffee by the 10lb bag from the Green Coffee Co. here in Canada which lasts me well over a year. I buy organic green beans, roast my own and hand grind. It's fantastic and can't imagine going without. I add powdered bone broth to my first brew of the day which ups my protein and collagen intake a bit.
What about caffeine in energy drinks? or directly in pills? Those won't typically have the other compounds present in tea or coffee. I carry caffeine tablets as part of my first aid kit for hiking, along with calcium and electrolytes (and ibuprofen, and bismuth subsalicylate, and and and...).

I eat coffee grounds every day, starting as soon as I wake up. I don't drink it but I love spooning and eating it as it is. I should try to get rid of coffee if I can as it may lead to osteoporosis or at least limit it to drinking a cup maybe.

I only drink Bulletproof coffee brand because it is tested for toxins. I’m highly sensitive to mycotoxins from mold and here in the US coffee is not routinely tested for mold toxins. We switched to another brand that was a gift and I had horrible trigeminal neuralgia at the temple for about a month before I realized what was going on. When I switched back to Bulletproof brand my symptoms slowly went away.
the study 300 mg caffeine is “a lot of coffee”..-(at 80-100 mg caffeine in 8 oz)..3 cups? And, seriously, what coffee mug actually holds JUST 8 oz?? I’m sure people get much more than they think!😬 I started 3 years ago mixing same coffee-1 lbs decaf with1lb regular-this has helped me cut my caffeine in the 2-3 cups I get a day. After AM, I’m a decaf green tea drinker… no caffeine past noon. My sleep has become so important. And I’m up at 5am to walk. Thanks for this video… I guess it is/ isn’t harmful 🤷♀️ As with most addictive things, less really is more!
I drink one latte per day that I make at home. My partner roasts his own beans. My lattes are 30 grams of coffee with 1/2 cup of steamed whole milk...not giving it up!
I have always drank decaf! I do not like the withdrawal symptoms when coming off of caffeine. I've never experienced them myself, but the stories I've heard....sheesh.
I love Birds & Beans Coffee - absolutely the best tasting in my experience AND it’s certified by the Smithsonian Institution to protect 100s of rainforest bird species. It’s also organic and fair trade certified!
I roast my own beans, Colombian purchased from Sweet Marias, enough for a week, so coffee is always “fresh.” I grind and brew one cup at a time, a “pour over.” One cup hot in the morning, one cup iced in the afternoon. No caffeine past 3:00 pm. Karen

Thank you for sharing this!
Yep...2 black cups a day & done.
I always laugh with my husband, we’re 70 and 67, when people say “elderly “. I’m thinking we have a good 10-20 years before we qualify 😂
@@janedough6575 Yep! Not until 80, at least!
@@janedough6575 When I worked at the VA, you weren't considered elderly until you hit 80.

We all have our preferences/biases.

I have heard that caffeine leases calcium. So add milk to coffee and it helps.
Thank you for sharing!
Its also the oxylates in coffee. Milk is the solution..
Favorite coffee? Not any particular brand, but definitely whole bean! I am very leery of pre-ground coffee and what fillers there might be. Also - prefer organic, well, just cuz. .... And thanks!!! I love my morning coffee routine!
Thank you for sharing!
I have 2 cups and half and half. So far so good. I don't drink alcohol, lowered sugar, I'll go with the "coffee good for you studies" :)

I love coffee ❤ I don’t smoke or drink 😊 I am 76 years old!!!! My coffee is a must for me in the mornings !!! I drink 2 cups in morning only . God has been good to me 🙏

I live in the UK and drink Kenco Rich instant coffee. I tend to alternate it with Darjeeling tea. I drink both black, no milk. A little sugar (demerara) in the coffee.

Thanks for sharing!

Oh my gosh!!! I've been trying to figure out if tea has done this. I drink a couple of big glasses of tea from McAlister's every day.
Do decaffeinated with lemon! Problem solved
@patriciadrank6543 Thanks... caffeine might be an issue, but what I've been reading about are tannins and other natural tea ingredients.

I drink organic cold brew concentrate which means you soak the grounds for 12 hours and run it through a thick filter which makes a concentrate kept in the fridge and add hot water to it as needed. Supposed to help reduce acidity. Same amount of caffeine and tastes delicious.

I eat coffee grounds every day, starting as soon as I wake up. I don't drink it but I love spooning and eating it as it is. I should try to get rid of coffee if I can as it may lead to osteoporosis or at least limit it to drinking a cup maybe.

How about the sugar with the coffee? That will be the problem for the bone. Bizz that there is no studies about the two combined!

I use an organic coffee roasted in Scotland, I look for the highest altitude coffee, it's fantastic. Mixed with MCT oil in a bullet proof. It's great
Nice! Thank you for sharing this
I only drink Bulletproof coffee brand because it is tested for toxins.

I’m sure people get much more than they think!😬
I started 3 years ago mixing same coffee-1 lbs decaf with1lb regular-this has helped me cut my caffeine in the 2-3 cups I get a day.
After AM, I’m a decaf green tea drinker… no caffeine past noon. My sleep has become so important. And I’m up at 5am to walk.
