What could possibly go wrong. We have a dismantled Go Kart strapped to a shipping pallet with an old Cummins diesel turbo welded to some sheet metal from an abandoned house with lots of fuel cans and vapors with guys casually smoking and turning things on and off with no planned sequencing. Kapow!!!!!
Robert Bradley I'm sure they would have had a Safety crew and ample fire extinguishers on hand. Wouldn't they? Please tell me they were all just off camera. Oh no. This is what they call a Mickey Mouse operation isn't it. The camera wasn't for scientific purposes. It was for coronial evidence. All of a sudden I am reminded of Wylie Coyote's ACME rocket launch attempts :)
Heinkel He 178, the world's first aircraft to fly purely on turbojet. The "turbojet", was invented in the 1930s, independently by Frank Whittle and later Hans von Ohain. The first turbojet aircraft to fly was the Heinkel He 178 prototype of the German Air Force, the Luftwaffe, on August 27, 1939 in Rostock (Germany).
A classic example of the modern British engineer. Rickety setup, no safety precautions, cigarette out the mouth, neighbours popping over to add their two cents worth. They then stopped for a cup of tea after his. These guys are Britain's finest after Brexit working on their latest prototype Rolls Royce engine to go into the next generation Airbus aircraft.
You could be right but if you replace the word tea with coffee or beer it could fit lots of good old boys in the US from the early days of racing to moonshine runners

Depends on what type of fuel, and the ignition temp or flash point. I was more worried about the smoke then flame at the bottom by the pallet. Even more so am explosion. I’ve seen many RC jets go up in flame or an explosion.
you need a combustor liner in the jet pipe, or is that a bit overkill on this project? awesome jet though, any idea on thrust numbers? also, what are you using for a flame holder?

1956 Willie Coyote acquired one of these defective models from ACME co. and there is footage it didin't turn out well for him, I suggest you try the batman outfit, that worked better until he hit the side of a rockface mountain. cheers and good luck ya bastards
I am sorry you mite have to explain your self a little more, I don't think i quite get the essence of your comment. Is it ? That as we are clearly poorly dressed that we are uneducated, Or ? That the homemade gas turbine engine we have built, is of such poor quality we are uneducated . the brits invented the CENTRIFUGAL FLOW turbojet, the germans invented the AXIAL FLOW turbojet. they were both invented at about the same time. the centrifugal jet (Frank Whittle) ran cool and was more reliable (most gloster meteors that still fly today are still on their original engines) but was quite bulky and the only way to increase thrust was to increase the diameter of the compressor (thus creating more drag) the axial flow jet (, Hans von Ohain and Anselm Franz) ran much hotter and had a very short service life (+/- 40 hrs.) but all you had to do to increase thrust was to stick in more compressor stages. most german ww2 jets that still fly are on their 7th or 8th sets of engines.

Yes that is the technical name although referring to cigarettes I've only heard the term hots.

Ok!
No not really the germans did all the time with the v2
Yeah smoking is the most dangerous part about this sure
not if your a pro.........like willie coyote
