    I personally love the colour. At the end of the day it strikes me the builder buit the car he wanted regardless of what anybody else thought so I have nothing but admiration for him.

    Great to see how Jack has picked up phrases from Derek, the business will be in good hands, and Derek's comment about Stevie Wonder doing the colour!

    The Mk 6 chassis and wheels have the proportions of a 50s car and so a 30s style body is never going to look right. That said, this Special looks far better than most and if the take home price is agreeable to a new owner then I think that he will have a lot of fun with it. I can understand that many Bentley Drivers Club members are against specials like this one. A fine Mk 6 has been turned into a pastiche of a 30s car, but pause to consider. The Mk 6, like every other car, goes through a price cycle that starts high and then reduces with age and wear. There is a period when its value is very low indeed and if it is in poor condition restoration makes no economic sense. At that point most cars are scrapped, lost forever. It looks as if the previous owner took what was probably a basket case and created this noteworthy car at great expense and with countless hours of labour devoted to making it practical to drive and a lot of fun, whilst saving the chassis, mechanicals and wheels from the scrap yard. I applaud that man.

      David.Welch: And I applaud your observations : However ,speaking from 7 decades of experience, if the builder goes the extra mile to fit 18"-21" rims, and adjusts the ride height accordingly , a chassis frame , double dropped or not , can be made to look right. And £80-90k is , or was, spot on ;

    You have to laugh because 80% of vintage Bentleys started life as saloons and we're given a replica body.

    No thanks. I couldn't ever get into it. But a lovely car nonetheless.
