One more point I would like to add for credit card usage is the bill cycle. If you know exactly what's the bill cycle of your credit card, you can have more financial control. For example if you are making big transactions in the start of the bill cycle, you will get 2 salary credits before the due date of your bill payment(if your salary credits every month on same date)

This makes sure 1. You always have the actual money which you spend through credit card 2. You never miss the credit card payment due date and avoid penalties/ late charges. 3. Keep earning interest at saving account rate ~3.5%. Enjoy 😉
Also can do one thing of you dont have money to pay credit card bill so transfer emi amount to your bank account through paytm and pay your emi but in next emi you have to pay it with your money it is only for taking time to collect money to pay emi i know it charge 4.07% at paytm but it is less than panalty charges

But now after nearly 11 years of completing all my dues I am at CIBIL Score of 850 from sub 600. I still use variety of Credit Cards, Loans etc. but now I know how to use them. This kind of lesson that I learnt the hard way is now available for all youngsters. Dont fall in this trap..... All the best.

However, I would like to bring to your notice that CRED's rent payment is actually a loss, since it charges 1.55% as service charge. Which means, for every 10k rent I have to figure out how to earn back the Rs.155 in 30days, which although is possible but not guaranteed by any short term instrument as per my knowledge. If you happen to read this comment, kindly do share your view on this. Thanks.
I highly recommend to put amount equal to your credit limit in a fd or seperate account as a security. This will save you from not paying full amount and getting into a debt trap.
Which credit card and how much points you did redeem for washing machine?? For me... To get a 500 rupees voucher.. I need to wait for 6 months. That to with 10 to 15k spending per month.
He uses Standard chartered credit card and gets a 5% cashback for many transactions along with some points. We had to save these points and money from cashback for a couple of years to get a washing machine and spend on other items.
Additionally, it gives you the required support when you are stuck in emergency/medical situations where big amount is required to be paid upfront. Even your best friend or relative will take some time to arrange that money..CC does support you there.

I agree with all the points except 1 that paying rent with Cred using credit card is beneficial. Cred charges 1.5% extra on Rent amount. So if you can earn more than 1.5% in maximum of 45 days go ahead. Otherwise you will be loosing money.
You get the benefits in reward points and milestone benefits which if used correctly can create a lot of value. You should never use those points for cash value. Use it for travel or hotels. If you dont travel or shop much then its of no use to you.
Hello Ankur, Really thanks for one more good video. I was trapped in this cycle during my 20s .. that taught me how to use card and I am availing the benefits of credit cards. In video, you mentioned cred can be used to pay rent and also video was not sponsored by cred. But you forgot to mention that cred charges some service charge for the rent payment. In my case, my rent is 23500 and cred is charging a good service charge of rs 255, which per year is rs 3060 and if I pay by Netbanking, it is free. So in my opinion, paying rent is not good use of cred and shall not be advised. if you advise in your video, I guess you should tell about service charge also, so that user can decided if he want to pay service charge or not. In case of emergency, it can be used but as a regular mode not a good method

You've not covered one more important fact on withdrawing cash from credit card. Once you withdraw cash from credit card through an ATM, it immediately imposes interest from the very next day. It doesn't matter whether you've fully paid your credit card bill just yesterday or 2-3 days back.

Hi, I would like to ask three questions. 1) What is the credit utilization ratio and it's significance? 2) Does having two credit cards instead of one has any impact on my credit score, given my expense stays the same? 3) How does the bank assigns the credit limit? (My friend has been using two credit cards with over 2 lakh credit limit on each of them. Then he took a third credit card and I was issued the same credit card as my first one. But the thing is that, for someone who has been using credit card for a long time his assigned credit limit was just 10,000, but for me I got a credit limit of 40,000 on my first card. )
Even I was on the lookout if he would talk about credit utilization ratio, but he just told us to cover most of our expenses by our credit card, which is actually against the idea of 'Credit Utilization Ratio' if I'm right. Note: To all those who don't know what this ratio is, it is the money you owe/ your credit card limit. i.e you owe 1000 rupees and your credit limit is 10,000 rupees, you have greater ratio than if you owe 1000 with a credit limit of 1000 itself. Hope it makes sense. I've got to know it helps you gain good credit scores. it'd be helpful to get some in-depth info regarding this topic!

One more thing which I experienced is that NO COST EMI is actually not fully no cost, it charges you the GST amount on the interest. I am using 2 to 3 cc from almost 14 years... and i have scheduled each CC for specific billing date (e.g 7th , 17th and 27th for 3 cards) so i can plan my purchase in such a way where i get the maximum benefit , e.g if the billing is on 7th i use that card for the next 10 days to get the maximum benefit then from 17th the other one... then the next one .. it gives almost 2 months salary before i need to finally pay the bill :-) .. Credit Card is a great thing if used with smartness and discpline... my CIBIL is around 850 plus... as i have not made a single default till date for any kind of payment till date....
@@VarunPratapSingh22 in case your parents use a credit card then an add-on card can be requested in your name (provided your parents approve of you using a credit card). If you get the card then you will become the secondary card holder and the primary will be your parent. The credit card company allows the primary card holder to set a credit limit to the secondary card holder. As and when you use the card make sure repay your parents in full. Also you should keep track of the billing cycle and plan your expenses around it to enjoy the interest free period. Hope this helps!!

That's true but that charge is 1-1.5% whereas some cards give you 3.3% reward rate. So overall it gives you interest free period and some rewards (which accumulated over a long period can give u amazing vouchers).
I'm 25 and it's been 3 years that I've been using credit cards. Never I have missed the payment by due date for once. In fact, many of the times, I made the payment only a few days after the billing date. Also, never taken cash out of an ATM from credit card.

Hey Ankur, thank you so much for providing awesome information about the credit card usage I would like to correct you that by using the CRED while payment of the rent they will charge 1.5% which is pretty high so we can do nothing with the interest free period so it is the worst decision to make the rent payment through the credit card via CRED app. .

I have spent nearly 6 years of my initial working days in credit card trap. I made all mistakes that Ankur mentioned here. But now after nearly 11 years of completing all my dues I am at CIBIL Score of 850 from sub 600. I still use variety of Credit Cards, Loans etc. but now I know how to use them. Hi Ankur, I have been following ur channel for quite sometime. Great advice on credit cards. However, I would like to bring to your notice that CRED's rent payment is actually a loss, since it charges 1.55% as service charge. Which means, for every 10k rent I have to figure out how to earn back the Rs.155 in 30days, which although is possible but not guaranteed by any short term instrument as per my knowledge. If you happen to read this comment, kindly do share your view on this. Thanks.

He uses Standard chartered credit card and gets a 5% cashback for many transactions along with some points. We had to save these points and money from cashback for a couple of years to get a washing machine and spend on other items.

I agree with all the points except 1 that paying rent with Cred using credit card is beneficial. Cred charges 1.5% extra on Rent amount. So if you can earn more than 1.5% in maximum of 45 days go ahead. Otherwise you will be loosing money.
You get the benefits in reward points and milestone benefits which if used correctly can create a lot of value. You should never use those points for cash value. Use it for travel or hotels. If you dont travel or shop much then its of no use to you.
Use redgiraffe instead for rent payment. Very minimal service charges

Hello Ankur, Really thanks for one more good video. I was trapped in this cycle during my 20s .. that taught me how to use card and I am availing the benefits of credit cards.
In video, you mentioned cred can be used to pay rent and also video was not sponsored by cred. But you forgot to mention that cred charges some service charge for the rent payment. In my case, my rent is 23500 and cred is charging a good service charge of rs 255, which per year is rs 3060 and if I pay by Netbanking, it is free. So in my opinion, paying rent is not good use of cred and shall not be advised. if you advise in your video, I guess you should tell about service charge also, so that user can decided if he want to pay service charge or not. In case of emergency, it can be used but as a regular mode not a good method

You've not covered one more important fact on withdrawing cash from credit card. Once you withdraw cash from credit card through an ATM, it immediately imposes interest from the very next day. It doesn't matter whether you've fully paid your credit card bill just yesterday or 2-3 days back.

Hi, I would like to ask three questions.
1) What is the credit utilization ratio and it's significance?
2) Does having two credit cards instead of one has any impact on my credit score, given my expense stays the same?
3) How does the bank assigns the credit limit? (My friend has been using two credit cards with over 2 lakh credit limit on each of them. Then he took a third credit card and I was issued the same credit card as my first one. But the thing is that, for someone who has been using credit card for a long time his assigned credit limit was just 10,000, but for me I got a credit limit of 40,000 on my first card. )
Even I was on the lookout if he would talk about credit utilization ratio, but he just told us to cover most of our expenses by our credit card, which is actually against the idea of 'Credit Utilization Ratio' if I'm right.
Note: To all those who don't know what this ratio is, it is the money you owe/ your credit card limit.
i.e you owe 1000 rupees and your credit limit is 10,000 rupees, you have greater ratio than if you owe 1000 with a credit limit of 1000 itself. Hope it makes sense.

I am using 2 to 3 cc from almost 14 years... and i have scheduled each CC for specific billing date (e.g 7th , 17th and 27th for 3 cards) so i can plan my purchase in such a way where i get the maximum benefit , e.g if the billing is on 7th i use that card for the next 10 days to get the maximum benefit then from 17th the other one... then the next one .. it gives almost 2 months salary before i need to finally pay the bill :-) .. Credit Card is a great thing if used with smartness and discpline... my CIBIL is around 850 plus... as i have not made a single default till date for any kind of payment till date....

@@VarunPratapSingh22 in case your parents use a credit card then an add-on card can be requested in your name (provided your parents approve of you using a credit card). If you get the card then you will become the secondary card holder and the primary will be your parent. The credit card company allows the primary card holder to set a credit limit to the secondary card holder. As and when you use the card make sure repay your parents in full. Also you should keep track of the billing cycle and plan your expenses around it to enjoy the interest free period. Hope this helps!!

That's true but that charge is 1-1.5% whereas some cards give you 3.3% reward rate. So overall it gives you interest free period and some rewards (which accumulated over a long period can give u amazing vouchers).

If you getting By FD you will get 80% of limit for your credit card the amount you make of the FD.

Hey Ankur, thank you so much for providing awesome information about the credit card usage I would like to correct you that by using the CRED while payment of the rent they will charge 1.5% which is pretty high so we can do nothing with the interest free period so it is the worst decision to make the rent payment through the credit card via CRED app.
