Do you know that 99% of reactors to this song NEVER catch or mention when j-hope raises his foot up and basically kicks his own head -- I don't understand why so many people miss this insane moment of flexibility and it drives me nutso 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I'm sure because they were focusing on the lyrics which is a very good reason to me 💜🙂 Also he was trying to kick himself in the head to clear his mind(to snap out of it) like hosts said but he also kinda blocked his kick with his own hands too....which shows the struggle perfectly imo 🫡
Hobi's interpretive dancing is another beast to behold. You can feel every beat and emotions in his every moves. I just wish it was a bit longer cuz I want too see MORE!
This song and MV is my fav... i feel like this song is so underrated cause there's too many BTS songs and as a result people hardly react to this masterpiece.
There is a dance practice where you can see his coreograph clearer. It is fantastic. There is an award show when he did this song with Jimin, oh boy, 2 amazing dancers. The Wings era is about the dark side, the appetites, the bad things luring, the .......recognizing this dark side in each person.
The quote at the beginning is from the book "Demian," and there's another quote in each of the MVs and short films for this album. This album all comes down to that book, which at its core is about the loss of innocence in the naturally destructive process of becoming an adult ("The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born first must destroy a world."). So, you're right, and there very much is a natural progression from their school and youth trilogies. This album, visually at least, is also very tied to their fictional storyline. Yes, BTS put themselves in the lyrics of this album (to varying degrees in each song), but some lyrics are also fictionalized to a degree to tell the story. I would just keep that in mind instead of trying to figure out what dark breakups or temptations the guys were going through at the time of making this album. 😊
WINGSSSSSS!!!!!!! Welcome to bangtan’s angsty adolescent album :’) there are so many relatable themes with this one and insane visuals and allusions and music and just art. The birth of my favorite Jimin solo song. A top tier era for sure, very exciting!!
I think the underlying story is about temptation . I am not a person who gets into the BU very deeply, it gets very complicated and I just want to hear the music. This is one of their best albums. I love it whenever the dance line is featured. Good reaction, can't wait for the next one. See uou soon.😊💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Interesting! I've seen a lot of people compare j-hopes most recent solo work with linking park too. I love the production of this song. There's so many interesting and unusual sounds in mix
I love this video, especially bc we get to see Hobi do his style. There is a live version of Hobi and Jimin doing this at the 2016 MAMAs and it’s insane. (I would not watch until you see Jimin’s short film #2 Lie. ) This album is one of my favorites. 💜
Do you remember the text "boy meets" at the end of the last MV? That was a teaser for this comeback trailer, so this album is very much part of a planned journey.
Pocos artistas tienen el talento para componer bailar y ademas interpretar sus propias obras !!Hobi es tan versatil autentico es un talento del tamaño del universo!! 💜💜
I am completely in your discovery of the BU. I believe you are the first to really do it. What you are offering us is enormous. Especially since I discovered BTS late (2020), in complete disorder, and I had to go the opposite way. I particularly appreciate your proposal. Sorry for my english. Love from France 💜
Just to let you guys know the Wings Short films are purely for the fictional storyline and barely have any music in it, they are very abstract and can be very confusing especially if you haven't seen the "On Stage: Prologue" which is a short film you watch after seeing the I Need U MV (there is a whole list of things to watch in order for storyline). The official channel doesn't have Eng subs for "On Stage: Prologue" or the "Wings Short Films" but it's really necessary to understand things more clearly so search for vids with added Eng subs. The solo songs on this album are fantastic but you don't really hear much in these short films. Some people never get into the storyline because it's a lot, confusing, and very heavy subject matter. It took me half a year before I got up the nerve to dive into it, I learned the members real personalities very well and could easily tell the members apart by then which is really necessary to keep people straight in the storyline. A lot of stuff still went over my head and I had to watch explained videos from army much smarter then myself lol. Personally I would skip the short films for now and just stick to the music, if you want to do an album listen that would be really cool but I'd do storyline later. Be careful with lyric vids though there is a lot of ones that aren't great with translations or get things wrong so I recommend using doolset lyrics even if it's just to look over it after the lyric vid to check the accuracy and "af taehyung" channel seems ok for lyric vids. I would have said the channel "enjoy bts more" but looks like their channel is gone now can't find it anywhere (might be copyright issues just a guess tho).
Hi there! I’m their lovely mod! And yes I have them reacting to not only the short films but the songs as well 👀 so next video should be jungkooks short film and a color coded lyric video to begin (just a sneak peak for you)
@@weisvivi22 Thank you for letting us know. I'm super glad they are doing the actual songs too, many reactors don't do that or check out their solo album songs.
I Iove that you’re going song by song. I’ve been ARMY FOR 3 yrs but still haven’t checked out some songs. Love your excitement and respect for their talent!
I'll second the comment from sandydebord somewhere here. This album is all about the theme of temptation. The part that makes BTS so special to fans is this kind of creativity. They don't just sing. And they don't just dance so incredibly well. But, they make every project a work of perfection; attention to every detail; it's music, it's dance, it's poetry, it's storytelling, it's acting, it's concept creation.... Not every song is a full song. There's intros, outros, concept trailers, all to make one perfect album of art. Anyway... I love Blood Sweat and Tears MV. That has some imagery in every frame to analyze !!! Lol
Wings is one of my favourite eras as it was when i became ARMY 😊 I adore the BU, the concept and ties ins are just so intrinsically woven. Its fantastic! The short films grabbed my attention after seeing Blood, Sweat and Tears and then down the rabbit hole i fell 😂
Glad you’re reacting to all of the short films! Since they are shorter than normal MVs, you may want to combine a few each time… but, I’m only saying that so we don’t have to wait so long for you to watch them to get your reactions 😂.
This album is wonderful, but I am addicted to you that it is nothing compared to their upcoming albums and that they are developing crazy like Proof ( 13 billion streams on Spotify) , map of the soul 7, love yourself answer, love yourself tear , you never walk alone ,Be , map of the soul 7 the journey and so much more but I can't remember all of them 😂 all of those albums has surpassed 4 billion streams on Spotify st least and of course the king of these albums is proof with over 13 billion streams on Spotify Can't wait for another reaction to BTS don't wait for too long ❤
Please keep in mind this album is inspired by the book Demian by Hermann Hesse which is a semi-autobiographical Bildungsroman or coming-of-age novel that follows the life of Emil Sinclair (Hesse) from childhood to his time as a soldier in World War I. This album is the transition from youth to young adult, which includes themes of loss, chaos, temptation, etc....You dont have to read the book, but youre going to be confused if you atleast dont know the storyline or elements incorporated. And yes, Armys do read the books incorporated to understand the messages. For the next song "Blood, Sweat and Tears", Jin kisses a statue with black wings, which indicates he fell into temptation, in the end he is cracking when looking at his reflection.
You need to see the 7 WINGS Short Films, it is a vital part of the album!!! They're very very short, it are basically a concept film for every member individually. I believe there is an compilation of them with English Translation. Please search for it!!
@@TAHBofficial Just letting you guys know it's mainly for the fictional storyline so you probably won't understand them as they are a bit abstract (the storyline that started with I Need U MV and there is another longer short film called "On Stage: Prologue" that comes before watching "Run" MV that's purely for story). The storyline can be a lot, confusing, and heavy subject matter. Each members solo song is personal to them in real life but they were able to also make some aspects line up with the storyline characters by drawing parallels from real emotions they've felt in their own lives. Eng Subs will help a lot, it's even more confusing without it. I didn't dive into storyline until I knew the members really well and could tell them apart easily cuz that's actually important to keep peoples storylines straight. Also time is not always exactly linear in the BU storyline (ex: many of the events in the "Run" MV feel like they happened before the events of the "I Need U" MV) so that can also be confusing. I usually don't recommend people new to bts diving in to the BU storyline, I've seen reactors be so confused thinking these events actually happened for real when it's all fictionalized characterizations. They imbue some aspects of their real personalities & emotions so the characters feel more real but the rest of it is fictional.
Fantastic reaction - really enjoyed your analysis of the lyrics, dance and music. I am so looking forward to you watching Blood, Sweat and Tears. Wings is in my top three of BTS albums but is not my favourite. There are so many more great songs for you to discover.
My comment is part from an investigation of an ARMY from the Catholic University of Perú her name is: Fernanda Mía Chávez Eyzaguirre. This will help you to understand the meaning behind this video. "Despite many analyses of the Wings era by ARMY omitting the Comeback Trailer "Boy Meets Evil," this research underscores the importance of understanding how it functions as a bridge for the ongoing narrative initiated by the short films and continued in the "Blood, Sweat and Tears" music video. The trailer presents itself as a new solo song, featuring J-Hope as both sinner and redeemer in this era. Ktaebwi (2017) notes, "There was no doubt that J-Hope would be the guide, the guardian of the world," owing to his spontaneous and versatile personality capable of blending sensuality and innocence in a desperate character." "Similar to the short films, this video starts with a narration from Demian: "My sin was not this or that; my sin was having given a hand to the devil. [...] Now the devil had me by the hand; now the enemy pursued me" (Hesse 2012: 26-27). This quote belongs to the first chapter of the novel, "Two Worlds," where Sinclair comes into contact with the dark world for the first time through deception. The title of the video and the accompanying song is literally "Boy Meets Evil," making it a perfect reference to this story. It might seem contradictory to use a quote from the beginning of the book in a video from a period in the era where the true journey towards Abraxas had already begun. However, it serves as an apt device to indicate that it functions as a bridge not only between different stages but also between BTS and the audience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the Wings universe. As noted in the "WINGS Concept Book," the trailer, "Boy Meets Evil," is the invitation ticket sent by BTS. Between the short films and the music video, the trailer served as a guide to enter the world solely through dance without further explanations. In less than 3 minutes, J-Hope achieved it. He was in pain, but he danced as if he couldn't stop. In the midst of emptiness with nothing but dust, J-Hope dances as crimson smoke rises, and the ground cracks as if foreshadowing the entry into a strange new world. He swings between the glamorous world of temptation spread by colorful paintings and his ego." "As if unable to control his desire, as if seeking redemption, his movements turn the void into a place covered in colors and create a sensual atmosphere. Like the saying in , "Evil held me in its claws, the enemy was behind me," J-Hope portrayed the anxiety of youth through an exciting and dynamic performance. Just like the lyrics written by J-Hope, "Too Bad It's Too Sweet." This trailer is another proof of temptation, where viewers cannot look away until the end. As J-Hope said, "This love is another name for evil" ("Boy Meets Evil"), you can't help but be drawn to as if possessed (Ktaebwi 2017). Thus, "Boy Meets Evil" acts as a bridge and introduction to this symbolic world and the continuation of the story, both for the other members and the audience, culminating in the "Blood, Sweat and Tears" music video."
Very perceptive comments. This whole album is about growing up and the temptations that brings. I believe the "wings" that tha album name and appearance of in several MVs are in reference to Abraxas - seen as a pagan god or demon. Jung's explanation was that Abraxas is the driving force of individuation, both the sun and the devil. You need to accept both parts of your character, good and bad, to truly achieve individuation. Abraxas is depicted as a creature with black wings. These comeback trailers further the BU story.
