I remember when my daughter asked me if she could stay out until 2:00am for a party her friends were having and I told her no. Of course she got angry and told me I didn't have the slightest idea what it was like to be a 16 year old girl and still treated like a baby. I looked her in the eye and conceded, "you're right, I don't have the slightest idea what it's like to be a 16 year old girl." Then I quickly added, "but I do know what it's like to be a 17 year old boy (same age as her then boyfriend) and remember what I was thinking about 16 year old girls and late night parties... the answer is still NO!"
Absolutely agree maybe I don't know what it's like to be in your position but I know exactly what I and my friends were thinking about girls in those situations back in the day and I wouldn't be much of a man if I let my daughter be the focus of that
Me and my 22 , 8 and 3 year old daughters and 14 year old SON watched this together !! My son said DADDY you ain't gonna take up for me ?! My wife from the kitchen hollered , SON YOUR MOMMA HAS A SHOVEL FOR THE BAD GIRLS YOU MEET ! 🤣🤣
This Mama too! And her boys have been married almost 20 years… Daddy’s got the girls. Mama’s got the boys. And personally, I would be more afraid of the Mama. 😉
Father of two girls here. They are married now but i still remember one of them coming to pick up my daughter. He was standing at the door doing the yes sir thing and I looked him right in the eyes and said to him, "you see that little girl over there? he said yes sir then I said I'm willing to die for her, are you?" It didn't go over good with my daughter at the time but he knew I was serious. She got home on time after that. LOL
My Daddy was just like this until this one boy walked in the house and Daddy knew he was the one. As usual he was right, next month we’ll be celebrating our 39th anniversary! My husband retired last year after a little over 45yrs in law enforcement. I’m sure if Daddy was still here he’d be proud of “that boy”. I know I am…we’ve shared a lifetime of love and happiness.
Buddy is the only artist out there who is truly making music that touches on everything us country folk think. The only way he can do that is by being independent. The very BEST artists are all independent and not bound by the shackles of corporate music. Keep being true and telling our stories and thoughts Buddy.
I listened to the radio all through the late sixties and to the millennium, because it was current and relevant. Corporate control of the media is simply insane at this late date.
When my daughter got picked up for a date I threw a 12 gauge shot gun shell at him he caught it I told him the next 2 will come a lot faster and he won't be able to catch it if he ever. Hurt my little girl now I will play. This song when he pulls up next thanks buddy for all the great songs and inspiration
I don't have a daughter yet, but when my niece brings home her first boyfriend I'm gonna greet him with my Ithaca Mag ten ten guage shotgun. It's going to be great!
Every time I am doing schoolwork and my step dad (who is more of a dad to me than my biological father ever has or will be) walks in I blast this song and he just smiles and gives me the biggest bear hug of all time
I've got a dad and FOUR older brothers and they were protective but my husband is a marine so they had instant respect and he's still earning it everyday! But I'm sure they still keep the shovel ready lmao
You think 4 is bad? I've got 9 (biological) brothers and all my friends are guys that might as well be my brothers. I also have like 30 something uncles, and my dad. On top of all that, I'm the youngest
Definitely understand this one, 23 years ago my dad asked my now husband "do you like to be hunted?" Now we have a 16 year old daughter, I feel like I might be worse than my husband about it... So glad I stumbled across this channel!
Buddy, my daddy raised 10 girls and one boy,. And proud to say I think we all turned out pretty good . Of course I could imagine his nerves while raising us..but he never let us see it if he was scared or worried. He stood proud and strong. Loved our mama, and us kids , worked hard to keep a roof over our head and cloyhes n our back and put ifood on the table he taught us how to live off the land by growing our own garden vegetables fruit trees and such. My mama told us out of can for the winter they even taught us what greens were safe to eat what mushrooms were safe to eat out of the woods all kinds of stuff my daddy was a proud man and loved his children and was proud of all our achievements..but I'm telling you ..I raised four boys and just ONE girl and that one girl gave me more worries when she hit puberty than my 4 boys put together.. I don't know how my daddy or Mama did it but they did it and they did it well, they taught us at a very young age to be good kids for starters, respect our elders to love the lord, to be honest to help thy neighbor and not take any wooden nickels lol. they ttaught us that it takes hard work to earn an honest paycheck.. we were holler bread and spring watered lol . I'm next to the youngest of 11 they had a lot of practice at being a great parents with the older siblings before I was born but I never hear my older siblings say anything more than what I was taught so they knew it was hard being a parent they wanted a big family actually I think they wanted that boy and that's why they had so many girls cuz that one boy was 9th in birthing order .. then they had 2 more girls after him but he got his boy LOL I'm proud to say that they instilled in us very good values that I passed on to my children and I never put worry on them except for once when I was a teenager.. I didn't get home on time and I never did it anymore ..lesson definitely learned.. but I swear I don't know how my daddy and mama and daddy raised 10girls and survived it .... I'm sending this song here o him.. lol
I laughed so hard when I seen this on my RUclips notifications. This song reminds me so much of my husband when my daughters were younger. They used to come to me and say mom why is dad like that and that they were to scared to bring guys around because they didn't know what he would do! Till this day he still has that shot gun and shovel ready😂😂😂!!!

It’s all in fun but seriously some of those boys grow up and love our daughters and become some of the best friends us as dads have for the rest of our lives if we’re lucky🙂
I know exactly what you are sing about I got 3 and one is 19 and one just turned 16 and my little girl told her boyfriend my dad is nuts and he has guns so I don't have to earn them I just set back look at him and smile while I watch the sweat run down his forehead lol
My Dad thinks he can still do this with his now 46 year old daughter 😁 He's been my Daddy since I was 7 and we finally got the adoption done when I was 44 yrs old 😊 Best day of my life! My Dad is a Navy Veteran and living in the military world is tough on kids especially but I can say I survived it or think I did 😁
Man! I love that song! My little girl started meeting all of her friends at the park because, apparently (and this is the way my wife and daughter described it), I gave them all a special grin. 🤪😁 Lol. Just another old vet. I heard it called a "scowl" back when I was a kid. Lol. Sometimes it was hard to keep a straight face when I was greeting those boys at the door. (I had a long black leather duster back then, and used it with some face paint and some homemade fog on Halloween made up like the guy that played as The Raven. I don't know how to describe my laughter. Some of those kids would just take off screaming down the road when I answered the door for "Trick or Treat". Lol. The good old days. She met a guy when I was working lots of hours and on call. He knocked her up and everyone was trying to keep me from knowing. I got a wonderful grandson out of the deal and Frank is still alive and healthy. Grandson born in 2009. They still worry about that special grin when I get a little onery and show it once in awhile. 😁👍 Old school 50s, 60s military brat, respectful, Presbyterian turned Baptist a long time ago, freedom lover, hunter that scouts before hunting season and don't use tree stands or hunting blinds. My wife used to hide the keys to the gun safe when she knew our girl had a date. I taught her to use a rifle when she was around 13 or 14. Beefed up an old 10/22, gave it that "AR" look with mounted scope and see through scope rings. (This was before red dots and lasers). Then I bought myself a lever action Henry, and she wanted it. After I saw her temper towards her husband after they were married, I sold that little Ruger. I still have my Henry and a fine grandson that I don't get to see often enough. They got divorced some years back. And I still have that special onery grin. Lol God bless us, every one! Y'all have a great day!
My daughter just turned 17. I've recently learned to appreciate good whiskey and Buddy Brown. Soon to be 67. Different world today but fortunate to be a farmer and cowboy.

I do not have daughters yet. But this is a good wake up call. My first date I picked up at her house I walked in and her dad was in his usmc shirt cleaning a m9. It's actually very good, I'm glad to see that the parents care for their children so much. Unfortunately you have plenty of parents that don't give af now days.
Buddy B.. Hell yeah! I have 3 daughter's... so, I'll not truly say what I want to in this comment.. Just in case! 👍👍 Great song and I barely like country my friend! Trump 2020
Love it. I'm a daddy's girl with all brothers. Now I'm a mom of all boys, if you think dads with daughters are tough then you've never seen a boy mama when her son gets his heart broke.
Wyoming Girl ~ Amen, we gotta watch for those split tail man eaters that hurt our sons, they make those boys loaded for fun for our daughters look tame...
Been with my love since I was 16, and I remember my dad sitting on the porch. Waiting. 😂❤️ And now we have a almost 10 year old girl of our own, and we got the shovel ready 😉
I don't have kids but if I did, this would be my philosophy: If I'm not willing to protect or defend my son with a gun, shovel, etc., I won't use them to protect or defend my daughter either. Guys can be hurt/harmed too. No double standards.
..I don't think he meant any harm to anyone's sun but lets face it..A boy is stronger than a girl..A girl can get pregnant not a boy..This song is meant to be a daddy girls song..
What a good song. I have a 2 year old daughter. I am not looking forward to the day that she start date. She has dad wrapped around her finger. I have friends to that will put the fear of god in some guy.
I've got a very young daughter and Im already dreading the day she brings some young boy(he will probably be just like I was) to the house for the first time
Reminds me of the time my daughter was dating while going to college. My pass has a professional rodeo, cowboy bareback Bronk event and then age 48 erased a motocross for 18 years was very good shape six pack and all my daughter would bring her date by her boyfriend, and to meet memost the time they never came back she says dad you run around with your shorts on they look at you and you’re scaring all the guys away I said thank God she married now her marriage grandkids and a great husband. God bless. I’m the lucky one.
Omg.. I say all the time God knew not to give me girls and so he blessed me with w sons as well... But like you I have nieces and grand nieces that I protect like my own..and this is definitely my new song for them.. Thank you.. Blessings and much support... Keep the great songs coming
I have 3 daughters... Youngest one is only 12 and keeps me on my toes she's definitely into boys already. My 15 year old is more worried about school and sports thank God my middle daughter is 14 she's not much in to the whole boy thing yet. I know one day they will start bring boys around and I'll damn sure keep the shovel ready
I Am So Grateful I Found You. I Love The Way You Think. I Love Your Song's. You Talk Like We Think. Your Such A Welcome Piece Of Fresh Air. Thanks For Being The Man You Are Mr Buddy Brown. AMEN
As a father of 3 daughter's and one on the way. I find myself chewing my nails waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl I can appreciate this . Thanks Buddy Brown
I love it! It's better than what I had: an accident with an eight pound maul, followed by some cinder blocks and cable going in the river to feed the catfish. Yes, I have 2 daughters, and yeah, I've thought about it
Is it just me or did I randomly find him and can’t stop watching

I found him with his corona song and can’t stop watching

He seems good with a acoustic but he should make some more heavy stuff like rock or metla
Hes even said that he wont sit there and get on his knees to get on the radio. I hope that one day we can get back to music like this on the radio

I have 2 daughters 1 son. My girls wonder why the boy don’t have the same rules they do but I tell them he is another fathers problem not mine. Lol

Luckily my girlfriends dad knows she’ll take care of it herself if I were to try something so he’s totally cool with me
Yepper he's a hammer and hits the nail on the head
Police quit taking my calls and pulling the boyfriend over for stealing his own car ;-)
@@williamschott219 I have got to remember that one. Having a kid pulled over for stealing his own car. That is classic.
I think you are the future of real country music!!
Family of 5 brothers and 1 sister, they are def intimidated when we gather as a family 🤣 love this song!
Cool as hell Buddy Brown can make a country song about anything. I like it!!
You speak to the majority! So down to earth! To Keeping it REAL!
I don't have any kids. There were too many signatures on the petition. LOL!
I have to thank Candice Owen's channel for my introduction to this guy
LOL ~ Same here. 🤛
Good very good songs you do
Listen to this while driving my little girl to her first day of school
It also helps when you have a cop in the family to provide a rock-solid alibi.
Mine is only 3 and the shovel stands ready
Yes my brother. So glad that I did not have a daughter. One son that I am so proud of and thankful for.
Love the song. This man is an amazing artist who deserves all the support we can give.
and more
Reminds me of the time my daughter was dating while going to college.
You should make an album with your truck session songs there so amazing
2 grown girls, and the boys that were brave, they were ALL scared!
It's the same for us brothers
I really like his song & voice -9 out of 10.
This song fits my son perfectly!! He has two beautiful daughters!!!He feels the same way
Thank God i got a boy.....👍🇺🇲
I Am So Grateful I Found You. I Love The Way You Think. I Love Your Song's. You Talk Like We Think. Your Such A Welcome Piece Of Fresh Air. Thanks For Being The Man You Are Mr Buddy Brown. AMEN
As a father with 4 sons and one daughter. I seem to be more protective of my daughter just because of what buddy song is about.
I have 3 girls and you got it
my dad was always my protector, until he went home to be with the Lord, and he liked my husband! Daddy's and little girls never change!
Amazing song. Keep up the good Work.
As a father of 3 daughter's and one on the way. I find myself chewing my nails waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl I can appreciate this . Thanks Buddy Brown
I learned to call in predators, yotes, etc. in my hunting days. = Sometimes a shovel won't break ground.
You are America's voice keep it up
Buddy, I have two girls, and I thank God every day for them, but this song is spot on! My shovel is always ready! LOL! Keep up the great work!
Both my daughters got married after 27 years. No pregnancies, no alcoholics. Still got my shovel! Just in case. Bwahahaha
I love it! It's better than what I had: an accident with an eight pound maul, followed by some cinder blocks and cable going in the river to feed the catfish. Yes, I have 2 daughters, and yeah, I've thought about it
The greatest moment in any daddy's life is when his little girl's husband comes to him to talk about their alibi.
Buddy Brown song always bring a smile to my face and Heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don’t always need a shovel if you got a real good buddy with a backhoe. I got two daughters and so did my best friend. Had it covered.
best songwriter of out time and may I add Buddy your property is so GORGEOUS!
