It's ironic when this program was run it was leading up the second game in Perth. Because State of Origin was invented in Western Australia by the marking manger of the Subiaco Football Club Leon Larkin. Rugby league and Arthur Beeston got the idea from Allen Aylett who was the head of the VFL. He and other VFL commissions had joined the SCG Trust, to get access to the SCG, so South Melbourne could move to Sydney. After the first AFL State of Origin game, Allen Aylett said to Arthur Beeston, you guys should really give this a go. Kevin Sheedy talks about it in his book.
