    Today I review the Pantasy Sherlock Holmes Baker Street 221B Apartment set 85014. Find out what I think about my build experience and thoughts about this modular style building. The set retails for about half the price of other modulars but is it worth it?

    Looks like there are a lot of great references in that model to both the books and TV show. I've read about half the stories and seen most of the show, but I've forgotten a lot of the details. Building this set would probably motivate me to start reading again. I think the treasure chest is a reference to The Sign of the Four. Thank you for sharing this!

    Love the look of this set Jason. Thanks for the review! It seems such a luxury to get 60+ printed pieces. I have not purchased any phantasy sets but they are very tempting. I don’t even have enough room to display my Lego sets. Which is why I haven’t gotten the bakery. But I do own a few third party bricks that are licensed sets for anime that Lego will not make.

    This is really very good and looks exactly like the shop and fake address for Sherlock Holmes.
    The building captures the tourist trap that has established itself on Baker Street, even down to the green Sherlock Holmes signage. All that’s missing is the Bobby dressed in his Victorian uniform and cape!
    I was a LEGO purist, but I’ve been finding out for myself that there are cheaper and good quality alternatives to the Danish leviathan!

    Nice review. It made me order it. I'm blaming you 😊. I might just skip using the sticker on the awning all together. Kinda seems weird having his name on the front of the shop anyway.

    Finished the set. Have to say I love it. Honestly the quality is just as good as Lego. All parts are identical with perfect fit and finish. There are four reasons that actually make it better than Lego. First of course is it's half the price if not less. Second is all the printed parts as opposed to stickers. Third is the printing on the mini figs. It's more than any mini fig you've seen before. Fourth is the instructions. Every part addition is highlighted in red that makes it easy to see and the parts list on each step is labeled. Hence 2x8, 2x10 etc which makes parts identification super quick and easy. It looks great with lots of detail and fits in perfect with all of my other modulars. Don't let Lego bias make you pass up such a great set. I give it a ten out of ten.❤

      @@jasonsbricksin5 I just finished the first floor (bags 1-5) and I gotta say that I'm really impressed. The quality of the bricks is high with good clutch power. The design and details are very good. And the build process is very consistent with Lego. The only negative is that it seems to take more force to push elements together. I had a small fracture in my thumb about a month ago and it was really hurting after building for an hour, but building with Lego has been fine. I'll reserve final judgement till its finished, but so far I'm really happy with this purchase.

    Do you place these in your city or not since it’s not “LEGO”? I’ve purchased some of the ones from the Popeye theme and am very happy with them.

    • @jasonsbricksin5
      @jasonsbricksin5  Месяц назад +1

      I have not added them to my city. The biggest issue is my space is already filled and I have some Lego sets I can’t even add. For now I keep them on a separate shelf but maybe one day I will get more space and see what happens. I’ve seen a few of the popeye sets and they look nice.

    That name of theirs though, Pant Ass Y...really? And also the "British Flag" is called the "Union Jack" for some reason that ive never known, dare say its something from 1600ish when the Union Jack was created, I want to say 1605, but I wont because im not sure that is correct, but it was something to do with King James the Sixth and First, around that time. Great review.

    Looks quite neat. I am however a bit of purist when it comes to Lego, so I don't see myself buying this, but a nice review on your part.
    I thought it was funny how you very obviously avoided saying 'Lego' in the whole video. 😄I get it though.

    • @jasonsbricksin5
      @jasonsbricksin5  Месяц назад +3

      I completely understand about bringing a purist and I have no issue with it. The main reason I do these reviews is just to show what’s else is out there as there are some people who may be looking for different build ideas or need items that are more budget friendly. I understand that it’s not for everyone, I just hope it is interesting content. Lastly yes I do try to limit the use of the word Lego and sometimes it is difficult honestly. But I try.

    Its sets like this that make my Lego Only prejudice start to really look ridiculous to me. I had a bad run in with some not lego 15 years back and it has made me a lego only fascist, but it looks so good and if you say the bricks fit okay (which was a big issue 15 years ago) then I have to consider it surely.

      @@studebricker2845 That may be true, I don't know how much Pantasy pays their employes, but I'm sure you do! Irregardless I still think the LEGO company is greedy and their products overpriced!

    • @studebricker2845
      @studebricker2845 Месяц назад

      @@BrickTsar I was making a comparison that Chinese companies do not pay their workers what first world companies do, which helps explain why these knockoff companies sell so cheaply. As well as not needing part designers LOL...
      So your lame argument is I probably own something made in China.....and that proves what, exactly??? Me buying a phone that may have some Chinese components is totally different from someone choosing to buy a toy from a Chinese company that steals from another company. But nice try, bud. Don't you have some Duplo to play with LOL...

    • @studebricker2845
      @studebricker2845 Месяц назад

      @@MartinWangdell What is your best example of Lego being greedy? As far as overpriced, there are a few sets I would say are high for what you get, but most sets are pretty reasonable, especially if people are patient and wait for a sale.

  • @studebricker2845
    @studebricker2845 Месяц назад

    I'm surprised you would support a company that so blatantly copies another companies designs. The only original pieces I see are for the minifig. Lego should sue this company for patent infringement, but I guess it wouldn't matter because in China, they have no respect for that. Again, why would you promote theft from Lego??? Definitely NOT subscribed.

    • @jasonsbricksin5
      @jasonsbricksin5  Месяц назад +4

      If you are concerned with the theft or copying of bricks, I suggest you look into the history of Lego and Kiddicraft bricks. The original Lego bricks were copied from a British inventors company. Yes you are correct that many of the parts are very similar. However they do offer a few parts that Lego does not such as a plate with studs on both sides among others. Lego has not been afraid to sue other companies for infringement such as Lepin and the current litigation against HA bricks that is currently happening.

    • @BrickTsar
      @BrickTsar Месяц назад +5

      This is an original design and no copyright has been stolen or trademark infringed. Your statement is baseless and Jason said - Lego is the one that took another persons work and built on it. So if this topic is something that truly upsets you then you need your examine the Lego group as well

    • @studebricker2845
      @studebricker2845 Месяц назад

      @@jasonsbricksin5 I am aware of the history, yes. You are referring to back when toy building blocks were relatively new, with only a few basic brick shapes. That is not what is available now. Lego has created thousands of brick designs that are not basic blocks or bricks. And these new Chinese companies are ripping off 99% of Lego's creation. So, apples and oranges, but nice try justifying what this company is doing.
