  • What is the attraction with Dumaguete in Negros? Why do so many expats/ foreigners live/retire to Dumaguete? In this video whilst strolling the Dumaguete Boardwalk and also ruminating over breakfast I contemplate what the attractions are for foreigners who choose to retire here.
    This is my third visit to Dumaguete City over the past 20 months and in that time I've warmed to the place. There are a few new diners here that have materialised recently which offer a better dining experience, including Indian and Vegetarian cuisines.
    I also attended the Sandurot Festival 2024 which celebrates Dumaguete's rich culture and history.
    You must also visit the Silliman University Campus. A prestigious University in downtown Dumaguete, Negros, Philippines. Appears to be a wonderful environment in which to study. I was a University Photographer in west London photographing students, staff and dignitaries for publicity purposes for ten years.
    The Philippines should be on everyone’s bucket list with its beautiful white sand beaches, fabulous idyllic islands, turquoise sea and stunning scenery. The Philippines is a traveller’s paradise and regularly included in top ten favorite places to visit in Asia and affordable, favorite world holiday destination.
    Many foreigners/expats choose the Philippines as the best country to retire in Asia and live in paradise. The Philippines is one of the cheapest countries to live in the world with its low cost of living and all year sunshine. Retiring in the Philippines is affordable on a budget of less than $1000 per month.
    Filipinos are welcome and warm people. Filipinos are often regarded as the most friendliest nation in Asia and nicest people in the world. English is widely spoken throughout the country. The Philippines is included in the top ten English speaking countries in the world. The majority of Filipinos are highly proficient in English, so it is very easy to strike up a conversation and make new friends.

    Philip, you should go back to Cebu for the Sinulog festival this January. I know you have lived in Cebu for 3 yrs since during the pandemic, but I don't think you have attended the Sinulog festival, have you? It's the biggest and grandest festival in the country, so what you are seeing there is triple or quadruple the festivities, so do come again during that time if you have the chance. They have moved the venue to a new location or the seaside area / SRP, but I heard that next year they will return it to the main venue. More festivities, more fun.

    Just a quick question Phillip, as an avid watcher of your travels and life, walking around with your arm outstretched holding your camera phone, does it not get tiring holding your arm out all day, or are you just used to it now, appreciate your time and effort to keep your videos functional and entertaining, that’s all my friend…. Hope your health stays good and strong..

      Good question Pat! It used to be tiring when I was using the Canon GR7 on a mini tripod. But not so much now I've bought the DJI Pocket3 which is lighter and easier to hold. Just need to make sure I don't trip over! Thanks for your continuous support and kind words my friend!

    Nice to a see a society with traditions, although those dark hooded characters looked a little spooky, like sand people. Quitting alcohol is an achievement but it helps to know it's poison.

    Absolutely amazing festival dancing....if that was in Australia before a huge audience at a sport or olympic event...with 80,000 spectators....we couldnt do any better or even close....choreography brilliant...no doubt all students and doing for nothing.....

    Thanks for the video! I'm arriving in Cebu City soon and so I've been checking for a Facebook expat group. It seems there isn't one?? Are there expat groups on other sites? Do you by any chance have a contact for Mabolo Garden Flats as liked the look from your videos? Thanks, C

    Dumaguete looks boring compared to other places. Good place to have coffee with other geezers. I'm a geezer myself. Been to Cebu, Bohol and Siargao. Going back in January. I have a lot going on in the states in the warmer weather.

    Can you spell out the type of rice that has low carbs?

    • @John_Smith777
      @John_Smith777 23 часа назад +2

      he's talking about basmati rice, which has a low GI (glycemic index), but is not low carb. if you learn how to control your caloric intake properly on a balanced diet centered around protein, there is absolutely zero reason to avoid carbohydrates for 99.9% of the population.

      @@John_Smith777Exactly. Low carbs is the new low fat. It’s bullshit. Exercise. Eat in moderation. Jobs a goodun.

    Dramaguete. Too many expats, each thinking they are God's gift to the vlogging world, and e- begging (super thanks) to survive. The advice they don't tell you: if you need to vlog for the pittance that youtube gives you in order to live here, you did not make enough money to move here to begin with.
